I have scoured the internet for a video and this one was the one I loved the most. I have watched this video probably 5-6 times in the last two weeks. I just started my painting on a panel and I love it so much. Thank you for making this video !!!!!!
Cool project. One of the challenges with using drywall spackle is it doesn't flex as the panels expand and contract. For future reference, there is a latex caulk with fine sand in it, used for "grouting" lines between floor tile planks. At Lowe's it's found in the flooring section by the grout mix, and comes in different colors. Because it is basically a latex caulk, it will flex as the panels expand and contract.
I enjoyed this video very much. You did a beautiful job with the white wash paint over the brick. Really makes the brick look more authentic. I may give this a try. I’m looking at doing a entry wall. This would be outstanding! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the video. Looked at others and they just seemed to tedious for the final effect. I kept thinking, couldn’t you just get that effect with some chalk paint? Finally, I found yours and I love the different example you’ve shown.
That was my weekend project last weekend we left it like it was and it turned out awesome if we get tired of the loom we will whitewash it later....looks awesome
I love this! I just got this same panel for my kitchen bar and I thought it was too dark. I am using the chalked paint to lighten up the brick panel. Thanks 😊🙏
Thank you so much- we have it over the entire bottom portion of all our kitchen walls and this is a great way to update it before a complete Reno can be done. Your project looks amazing in your kitchen
looks good but terribly slow technique , probably averaging 30 seconds per brick ...... I would paint all the grout joints , let them dry , then paint all the bricks with a roller and wipe with a large , flat , maybe dampened sponge , get the whole thing done faster
Absolutely, love it. Thank you, so much for such a wonderful video... I’m definitely going to use the faux brick panels in my kitchen and an accent wall in my bedroom. Thanks again Deidra. Your video was very helpful. =)
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Brecken Briggs I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Instead of having a straight edge for a seam , cut the 1/2 brick out the sheet , so it ends up looking like a jigsaw piece, then the seam should disappear , it's a little more work but worth it, love the wash look, but then the brick is really neat anyway .
Deidre - Restless Mind such a shame, it doesn't have to be a perfect cut , you can cover the join with tile fix, all purpose filler ex and paint . Love the outcome though , the panel I've seen so far in UK are pretty expensive unfortunately, or I'd have this just about everywhere with ship lap .
Thank you 🙏🏼 just what I needed!! I loved the video so much !!! Ps: I don’t know what kind of person hits the unlike button to a channel who’s trying to help others
Love this. Do you have a link to the brick panels? I find it's really hard to do a search for proper raised brick panels. So many companies try to pass off photographic prints for proper texture.
I love it! You mentioned you used brads for a less permanent upgrade in case you change your mind. What do the brads look like? How are they applied to affix to wall?
How would a horizontal seam within the mortar compare as it relates to the appearance? Also, did you have to move the outlet in the wall forward in order to put the face plate back on?
I would think you could use it for floors BUT would need to put a durable sealer on it. I've seen people do plywood, stained and sealed and made a beautiful floor so I don't see that this would be that different. Just LOTS of floor sealer. Good luck!
Awesome tutorial. Exactly what I’ve been looking for for my kitchen backsplash. I need 4 panels, I’ve only got one painted so far. Although a slow process, it’s the best way to achieve the look I want. So thanks for sharing! Ps. What did you use to seal it? I definitely want a few coats of some sealant, to protect from splatter from my range and my kitchen sink.
What color have you painted your cabinets? It’s the exact color we want in our kitchen! We also want to do your faux brick technique for our backsplash. Just found you! Im binge watching!!!
On the most noticeable outside corner, I mitered a small section to wrap around the corner so it truly looked authentic with the appropriate brick depth. On a couple of others, i just lined up the edge carefully, and painted the edge the wall color on the 90% wall. No one really notices.
Not a problem. If you over caulk or make a mess, just use damp paper towels or rags to clean off the mess you make. Make sure to use only latex caulking. Silicone is NOT to be used for this (is just rubber).
I found it online at Home Depot but it was under Hardboard Wall Panel, not Faux Brick. Here is the link www.homedepot.com/p/1-4-in-x-48-in-x-96-in-Kingston-Brick-Hardboard-Wall-Panel-278844/205683640
