For those that might like the mirrors, I think placing the bottom edge "above" the baseboard would make them hang more flush against the wall and take away from that bent look. Otherwise, great video with good ideas.
I thought the same thing when I saw how the mirrors were placed! Great idea but it needs to be placed above the baseboards! Love the faux brick though! So pretty!!!❤️
Great tutorial for the faux brick. This would be good for people who are looking to add more industrial/loft vibes. I really think that mirror needs to go. It looks like it’s about to collapse in on itself
I have to agree. Before it even went to the full shot I said to myself, how is that going to last overtime? The mirrors are going to bend. And sure enough, the full shot looked exactly the way I thought it would. I don’t think you’re going to get away with not using plywood for that project. Great idea though😉!!
Yes, I agree re the mirror. She would have been better off putting them together to heavy duty duck tape first, then adding a thin sheet of plywood glued to the back using a heavy duty glue. That would have turned it into a really lovely sturdy piece.
I noticed that too but it’s not hung up. She can hang it up shooting nails into the frame around the very very edges. And it would look great if she was able to make more “partitions” on the mirror maybe by cutting up another mirror frame for the job.
The dinning set, organic, wood, enhances the believably in the bricks, and I love the paint job too. I don't care for the mirror, but overall the wow factor of the wall really makes the dining area special. 💙💙💙
My father in law did this to the remodel of his garage and turned it into the den. The realtor told us it was the best garage remodel he had ever seen. That style of paneling looks so real especially with low lighting. It also brought the value of the house higher. Great job
I’ve been eyeing these brick panels at Home Depot to put on one of my living room walls too. Was thinking about painting them all white. Yours looks great!
@Lisa Garrison yes except for the seams, you would have to patch that area then paint over it and add the white paint then dry/wipe but I think it would be easier to do most of it first
Your faux brick is AMAZING ! Instead of the mirrors I would have added a wooden floating wall shelf with a mirror above it that was in an old wooden window frame = 4 squares 🙂
Steel plated corner flat brackets for holding mirrors together OR remove the mirror frames(remove caulking around mirror with blow dryer heat & pull it off carefully), use clear mounting mirror clips to hold on wall... Making you own mirror design..
Thank you so much I saw those panels at Lowes a while ago and though just what I need but not sure how to do it. Thank you a million times for this video and your measurements are just for me !! It really doesn't take a ton of money to decorate just imagination and your end result proves it yet again !!!
This is by far one of the best hometalk tutorials I've seen in a while. Something new and different instead of the same thing over and over slightly changed. The tedious paint process was like the cherry on top 🍒 beautiful!
I did something similar in my bedroom but used a good quality, removable wallpaper in a brick print. Even from just a couple of feet back, it looks like the real thing (and much easier to install!)
I did a tutorial for these panels awhile back and you did it really similar to how I finished mine! Love these panels they can completely change the look of a space.
Looks fantastic!!! Your creativity and imagination for that space is incredible! I very much like your respect for the drywall behind, as you used finish nails instead of liquid nail. Thank you for sharing your process and incredible results!
When I was rehabbing a 1970 mobile home, I wanted to put this stuff over the fake wood paneling. In the end, I used brick wallpaper, more cost effective for me. Love this! Thanks for sharing! Love your shirt too!
A few years ago, I tackled a wall with 35 yr old red brick board. I lightly brushed over a coat of thin white paint, leaving red accents lighting up through. One & done. Refreshed, quick, easy & cheap.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful project 🥰. I've been wanting to do the brick on a couple of areas for sometime, as we have 1950s wood paneling in our living room and MUST do something! Thank you again 😊
This looks great and your color mix with the Apple Barrel paint was right on target. I am getting ready to move into my own home in Monday and I have an electric fireplace to take and right now it looks great inside the fireplace of my present home, but there is not a fireplace where I am going. I told my dad just yesterday I want to watch some videos in how to make an authentic hearth. I never thought of also making a brick wall. Funny timing because I did not go to RU-vid tonight with the fireplace in mind. I just ordered a couple home accessories from Amazon and thought I wonder what the RU-vid world is doing today. Your area is awesome and you cannot tell that your brick wall is fake. Awesome job! Sincerely, Rebekah in VA
For all that is holy attached those mirrors to the wall LOL - they look like they are one slammed door or gust of wind from being a "shattered mosiac mirror project"
While watching the trouble you were going through to connect the panels I was wondering how this was going to come out you are an absolute genius this came out beautiful
You can also use peel & stick brick face wallpaper. It comes in assorted brick face designs---red brick, variegated, white brick, distressed look, etc. The panels in this vid look like they are thicker and have a more realistic raised 3D texture. Gives the room a cozier, earthier feeling. I would stiffen the mirror piece with a board, it looks like it has a bend. Overall, great ideas, very creative, and nice results from a DIY project.
To be honest, when I saw you spackling over the seams, I thought it would look like complete sh*t; however, I never thought about painting them! In addition, when you wiped the paint away, I was floored. It looks awesome! I am going to do that in one room of my house Thanks!
Great work! you were blessed that your end walls were evenly straight. did the similar project and had to do a wood moulding to hide un-eveness love HD panels but used Lowes type has a dark red brick type with black mortar (it was for a theater room so it's a man cave thing) great again!
Very esthetic, pleasing to the eye. Increasing the value of the space, nice ... I think the candle flickering in the mirror adds to the abeince...thank you for sharing your work, great inspiration.
Changing you!! I gleaned the best ideas from this video! In fact I got 2 gears ideas for bedroom fireplace and a t.v. room also, to hide an unused door....I'm so excited!😂
Good for you. It doesn’t inspire me (couch potato that I am) but it does my heart good to see people like you using your imagination and creativity to feather your own nest in a delightful way. Bravo!
I had a couple of these panels in the cellar of a house we bought and wanted to use them creatively so I hung them on the wall that my kitchen stove and range hood were on. I painted them a gorgeous semi matte charcoal and the look was amazing!
I saw another post, they install piece of wood 2 inch wide x 8 feet Tall to separate each pannel, so they don't have to fill the crack. They paint the panel and the wood sas stain. Or if could be paint the dame color.
Gorgeous transformation! I do think hanging the mirrors above the baseboard would have been a better option to avoid that bend or bow near the bottom. If you're going for a leaning mirror look, glue the mirrors to a sheet of plywood and lean that against the wall. Overall, a great job done affordable. Brava!
