My wife and I have a a36K gallon pool and it ate chlorine tabs like a kid in a donut shop!! I bought 4 of these chlorine dispensers and have been using them for a few months now. My chlorine usage has dropped by at least 25% and I am very curious to see what results we will be having now that our temperatures are dropping. These devices couldn’t possibly be any easier to maintain. All yo need is a net to scoop out a floater, open it, drop in a tab, snap it shut and replace it in the pool. It takes literally 1 minute or less!! The only moving parts are sure not to wear out…. Those would be your hands!! I feel very confident that just about any kid could do this….assuming that you are able to tear them away from the video games….lol

I’m curious. While using the pool rx do you continue to maintain the chlorine at the same ppm? If so, won’t you still be using the same level or chlorine? Or do you purposely have to make sure you use just enough chlorine for lower ppm (due to also have pool rx)?

@@aajeev I was having some traces of algae while still maintaining around 3-5 ppm of total chlorine and 2-3 ppm on the free level prior to purchasing the Pool Rx. I am a pool technician in Phoenix and out of the 68 pools I clean weekly there is one client that actually uses a pool rx and it is the cleanest pool I have. Never any algae and i literally have not needed to add any chlorine since last month. I’d say 50 percent of my pools or more are starting to get mustard algae due to summer heat out here and it is a battle and makes life and work a lot more difficult. Yet my clien with a pool rx is perfect occasionally needs acid but that is about it. There bill for chemicals last month was like 15 dollars compared to the other 60 ish there bills are in the 40-60 range each month just for chems. Pool rx is legit and saves tons of money.

Good to know. Thanks for commenting. I've always had an aversion to heavy metals (such as the copper in the Pool rX) so I've avoided it. I had a friend who has it tell me that the copper in it is "chelated" so it's not harmful but from what I've read the only thing the chelation process does is keep the copper "active" for a longer period of time. @PoolSchooler 2 года назад
Hi Dayna. First of all, I don’t want to say anything bad about any company but personally I’m not a fan of pool supply companies. I believe they mean well but I’m not certain that everyone that works there knows a lot about pool chemistry etc. I know my channel has a lot of videos I am well over 150 videos now and I know sometimes it can be hard to know what to look for. Two suggestions, first, I have a membership website that I started less than a year ago called poolschooler.com it is a paid membership annually, but I have things like pool filter/sanitizing type specific checklist that help DIY pool owners to know what they need to do specifically for their type of pool on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis. There’s also links to products that I myself use in my own pool service company, And other “cheat sheets“ to help people maintain their own pool themselves. You might want to check it out. Secondly, you were asking about clearing up cloudy pools A cloudy pool can be caused by many things. In order to more accurately help you I need to know the type of filter you have i.e. DE, cartridge, sound etc. How long you’re running your equipment, what’s your pool chemistry is etc. Unfortunately without more information about your pool and its system and filtration etc. I could not with any type of certainty make any kind of assessment. Feel free to email me more information and I’d be happy to help you as much as I can.

Not recommended. Tablets have acid in them and over time it will eat the plastic parts being directly in the skimmer. Just put tabs in a floater and add shock to the water and immediatly brush it until dissolved.
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 3 года назад
I would completely disagree with that recommendation. The chlorine and shock is corrosive and in direct contact with the plastic of your skimmer it will eat it away quickly, and because the chlorine is dissolving directly into the pump it can speed up the deterioration of that basket and other plastic parts as well. Doing it rarely (like in order to get chlorine into your pool quickly) is not horrible but not regularly. Hope you'll check out poolschooler.com and please subscribe to this channel.

Maybe a dumb question here but brand new pool owner (8000 gallon in-ground fiberglass). Does the chlorinator not provide enough chlorine from the tablets I put in? I just started using that, and I'm still using liquid chlorine until I get my CYA level on point, but after pH, TA and CYA are all good, will the chlorinator tablets typically be enough (big rains aside)?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 2 года назад
Typically I say that liquid chlorine is the best to use if you don't mind adding it daily. For convenience though we use tablets out here for all my pools. Cause you typically only have to add tablets once a week (and maybe less I the off season). The "Sunken Treasure" tablet holders work a little differently as they sink instead of float allowing the chlorine to not sit at the surface where it can evaporate more rapidly. However, because the chlorine stays below the thermocline (top 1' or so of the water) you will notice your chlorine reading is lower than if you used a floater. But I have a client who I have two of these in and their pool is around 20,000+ gallons and I keep 2 tablets in each of the units and have had no trouble with the chemistry.

I'm thinking those products released the copper into my pool. Now I tested my water before draining and acid washing the copper was at 0.2 which I've read is where u will begin to see staining.
