I’m looking forward to the video to see how the Flomasta stuff holds up. I was all geared up to take the plunge with Loctite and then saw the price!! I thought my browser had made a mistake. 😀. It all comes down to curing times for me. If I’m hanging a rad, I don’t want to be waiting 3hrs for the stuff to dry. I suppose, on a rad job, I could do the tails first, before even draining down the system, thereby getting maximum drying time.

577 is over priced at £ 30 + per bottle , I use super power exactly the same stuff , it sets in a minute and is pressure tight in 5 mins , get it on eBay or Amazon about £ 10 a bottle.....happy days. 👍

PTFE is ok to pack out threaded fittings on rads bib taps or tanks but you really don't need any of these products for most compression fittings. Many years ago I did some work on my parents home that was built in the mid fifties. It was plumbed with compression fittings throughout and there was no sign of any sealant because it just didn't exist back in the fifties. Same thing with my house in the same street and my partners house in present time. Compression fittings just won't leak when fitted squarely so the olive can grip and seal as that's what they're designed for. PTFE was developed for the NASA space programme back in the late sixties and the first domestic application of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) was used for non stick frying pans because basically nothing would stick to it, especially water. I often used Petroleum Jelly when plumbing in taps, toilets and showers because it lubricated the fittings so they could be tightened without strain and it 's completely waterproof. Most of these modern sealants are just a money spinner for manufactures and are promoted by the plumbers on youtube.

Definitely need to grab another bottle to have half a chance of getting it out 😂

Never actually used laco one but it’s meant to be the best, I’ve just got some of the rapid blue stuff so will be trying that out soon. Thank you for the support 🙌

@@SmartPipePlumbing I bought a bunch of them to test (Laco, Flomaster, Tru Blu, Jetlube , Cura and Loctite) the Laco one with the brush in the cap was the cheapest by volume and best to use, the Tru Blu one from Toolstation is alright as well, but twice the price, they all held to 12 bar so that isn't an issue

@@stuarttthomas7847 plumbase do their own..plumb blue.. see same as the others .supplied with brush tub but tub is massive for around £12..better value than the others.seems identical to jet blue

@@pault3705 That is the one to go for then if you want a non setting one, I have given up with them, too messy and time consuming, the locking ones like the Flomaster one in this vid and Loctite 574 is where it's at, do you know if Plumbase do a good value locking paste?

Don’t use it that often mate, but it’s good for the price of it I know what you mean about the pencil marks, I try to do small pencil marks

I’ve done it with water in the rad and had no problems with it. I’ve used the flomasta and loctite 577 and had no issues from either of them

If a angle drill bit from middle of Lidl, I can seem to find it online

It’s good stuff to be fair, had a couple of leaks with this stuff not so I’ve changed to rapid blu

@@SmartPipePlumbing fair shout. But that’s what make me nervous, when it leaked where you able to remove it with ease and clean up the interior threads or did you have to say, change the whole radiator (as an example)?

Not big deal, you can add some boxing … that’s how people did it for many years , it hides the pipes if you don’t like them to see exposed..

I use a 17mm but I know some people use 18mm think it depends on what valves you fit most

Danfoss valves use 16mm ones

In the 21st century we use a Monument Rad Tail socket & a Impact Gun👍👍

Chisel is a its own brand and the big screwdriver I use for a chisel I’m not sure I found it in a job 😂

Just expensive compared to the cheap flo masta stuff

I buy a couple and put them in one bottle now
