Using Live Baits for Ocean Fluke. August 2023 

Good day of fluking there Capt. I was never an avide fluke guy but targeted them here n there. Mostly with live peanuts but the best fluke day i ever had was inside, off my dock just south of the Highlands bridge.( North Jersey😂) i had a fresh water rod, snapper snatcher with me. 6 to 10" snapper moved in. I got a few and pounded 3 fluke just like your 7 pounder here. Also got a couple of shorts no bigger than twice the size of the snapper they hit on. Snappers are like crack for fluke. Try em sometime if ya get a chance.

Hey Chris, no need to apologize for the Australian accent. Out fluking last Sunday in Raritan Bay. 3 generations. Me 78 years young, my daughter 48, my grandson 12. As my daughter tells me dad, your speaking Australian with an Irish accent and I'm 100% polish. Good times. As i tell my grandson, poppop never grew up he still thinks like a kid. Fishing the other day with my long time fishing friend 76 year old john around sandy hook in the ocean. John is outfishing me 5 to 1. So my last dog Candi who we lost 4 years ago Aug 26th chimes in " Pop you stink at fishing, John is outfishing you like crazy !! " We have a blast and me talking 3rd person as my dog Candi. Keep your videos just the way they are, be yourself, and and if people can't take choking around its their problem. Been putting a bucktail skirt on w the live minnow. Seems to slow the seabass down and fluke seem to not mine. More bottom time w the fluke. Nice job out there.

Ayyyyy mate! Good stuff! Really lot of fun watching your stuff inshore cause I fish in the Finsulation out of the same dock. Probably, hit a lot of the same snags. Your big one was about a clone of the one I caught couple weeks ago sure around the same area. Hope to run into you one day. Keep up the good content! Cant wait for the next one

10 lb fluke is over 30 inches. I still haven't got my dd fluke yet but hopefully this year

It seems to be less common courtesy on the water. There is no reason why people have to come flying up to a spot and then throw it in neutral and start fishing.

Congratulations on your big fluke. 30" is normally the 10 lb.mark. I still haven't gotten over 8 lbs but I netted a 9.8 and it was 29.5"

I so haired fluke fishing out of city island . Surprisingly their relative halibut is easier to catch . I prefer blues though any can’t miss them

Confused Florida panhandle snapper fisherman (originally from NJ). Am I to understand there is a 1” slot for fluke? That is some very creative rule making and frankly unbelievable.

Love the videos Mate!!! I have not had much luck hitting little egg reef this year, do you recommend looking for wrecks by themselves and not on the main reef sites? I would love to find some wrecks I can fish and not be with the huge crowds on places like LER or GSS.

It is nearly impossible to fish on the reef sites on the WE. Had a big Boston whaler with triple OBs and big displacement rock me bad. Worst ever. And some guys have no clue. Others grab your numbers. Not sure which is worse. Good vid.

Don't know if other folks would be interested but I'd like to see where you look for the particular type and size of bait fish you net. Seems like most of the live bait at tackle shops is limited to mud minnows.

The regs are definitely having the opposite result of what the intention is. I'm handling way more fish trying to find a slot and stay within the rules.

There should be a switch on the quantum real that makes you not have to hold down the button to let line out.

If I was you and that guy came in hot on the wreck and slid in, I would have dropped the trolling motor and spot locked right on the piece so he couldn’t fish it

I've been fishing absecon creek for 20 yrs and twice dragging live croaker on a Deadman caught a 10.2 & 9.8 in that little cut directly across from Gardner's basin , and misplaced a lot of brain cells in Brig in the late 90's
