I've been working with this software for the past two months, I've been creating something everyday! I am soo impressed with this program!

I absolutely love it! I had to atop to make something else with blender hahaha it’s a little bit addictive.

How about to modify the profile before validate? for example, you draw 2 circles, put one above the other, if you validate the loft here, it will connect straight between both right? but if you want not to be straight, but curved, lofted but curved between the 2 circles..?how to do that?

great vid and great software. still trying to figure out the nuances of it. what i fond if i press select all curves a lot of the times it doesn't work, i have to select the curves one by one in the correct order, then it work perfectly. first time doing nurbs, but sure dont miss sub-d :)

Great, thanks. But one question: How do you adjust the shape after you modelled the Loft?
@AlbertoCGArt
@AlbertoCGArt Год назад
For what I know, once you apply the Loft, it's pretty much set! Unless the next update that it's coming soon has something to change this.

If you add vertical lines too, you can use those as "guides" and constraints for the shape, but the key is that their end vertices MUST be touching the start and end curves, which will be indicated by them being blue, instead of the usual red. Then, after hitting L to make the loft, you can shift-click them to make the loft snap to their shape, constraining it. I see it in a lot of car-modeling tutorials, because they often build a spline cage to make the various panels. Great technique tbh.

Gracias Alberto, buen tutorial!

@@AlbertoCGArt Genial! Muchas gracias Alberto, voy a seguir intentando entonces.

I want to see videos of those shapes being converted to a manifold mesh for 3d printing so I can see the workflow past modelling

Did you try importing that into Blender?
@AlbertoCGArt
@AlbertoCGArt Год назад
Yeah, it should work nicely. I exported as OBJ and imported in Blender.
@EvilMP5
@EvilMP5 Год назад
Ok, because I have tried complex models and trying to clean them up inside blender was a daunting task. I ended up dumping the OBJ into 3D Coat for retopo, which worked out a lot better but still very time-consuming.
@AlbertoCGArt
@AlbertoCGArt Год назад
@@EvilMP5 Not gonna lie, the topology is not perfect, if you export in quads, you will have some weird topology for sure or triangles. But, blender preserves a perfect shading with no artifacts. Check this out: streamable.com/nqxonp

To be honest I don’t really understand the excitement with the Loft operation being one of the most rudimentary features/techniques throughout most (if not all) NURBS modeling platforms. Could you also add some guide curves to have a better control of your shape?
@AlbertoCGArt
@AlbertoCGArt Год назад
I don't really use it as much, It's just a tool to use in some shapes, I do see that it's better for some complicated shapes to use Loft, but not really my go-to.
