Today we are back with another hamster DIY. Join me as I talk through using moss in hamster cages and how to make your bendy bridges safer. Moss can be a great addition to any natural hamster cage, It helps add a pop of colour into your cage whilst keeping that natural look and is another great way to offer some extra enrichment for your hamster. To create these I used hamster safe glue and Moss fibres from "Rat rations" website. Let me know in the comments if you have used moss of your hamster toys and any other hamster cage ideas you may have. Xx

Yue was my Russian dwarf hamster. She was my first hamster and i loved her very much. From the moment i saw her i knew she was coming home with me. She started me on a journey of research and learning about correct hamster care and enrichment in attempts to better her life, my hamster education and make her the happiest she could be. She is the sole reason i started this RU-vid channel and i am so grateful to have so many videos and moments of her to look back on. Through lockdown, day to day life and mental health struggles she cheered me up and gave me a reason to smile everyday. She truly was a great pet and i will be forever thankful for the knowledge i learnt because of her. I miss you Yue, I love you always my little moon spirit. Xx
A L B U S' S T O R Y:
Albus is my male Syrian hamster. I decided i wanted to adopt a hamster in February 2021. i wanted to have the expirience of owning a different species of hamster so i opted for a syrian as i already had my Russian dwarf hamster, "Yue" at the time. I found an hamster adpotion advert for him on Pets4Homes and he came home with me shortly after. His story before life with me is not a sad one. He was very loved by his previous family and they also advocated for great and correct hamster care. He is a cheeky boy, more of a shy hamster and is incredibly friendly and i am happy to share his life journey with all of the hamster community. Xx

I use flour and water glue for attaching moss to bendy bridges, I find it works as well as the Elmers. For flat wood surfaces I apply some flour and water glue with a paint brush, pour sand on top, shake the excess sand off and let it dry. It looks sort of natural and decorative! I love getting creative and experimenting with making accessories for my hams lol! x

@@TianiSimoneX I honestly think the natural touch of green is perfect! Also I should be ordering a 11” trixie wheel this week for Sunday which will be good since I really want to go to pets at home and buy 3 really nice pieces of driftwood with their 3 for 2 offer. Can’t wait! 💛💛xx

I love this idea, it’s the first time I’ve seen it! Definitely going to give it a go myself! Where did you get the biggest bendy bridge from? All the ones I seem to find/order are the small ones. Those bigger ones seem great for creating sections in the hammy houses!

Thank you, I will go and have a look! Over the next day or two I am giving my Syrian, Reggie, the exact same upgrade as you did for Albus. He is currently in the Savic Hamster Heaven and will be going in to the Pawhut. I’m so excited to give him the home I’ve been imaging of and the home he deserves. (It was your videos that sold me on the Pawhut cage over an IKEA DIY)

I just buy the loung'n'logs from VioVet - they don't come with any holes or gaps in them. The colour is very different to the regular bendy bridges, but you can paint them using watercolour if you want to. I prefer these over regular bendy bridges since even if all the gaps are plugged, I still worry that a hamster will just rip out whatever you've used to plug them lol.
@TianiSimoneX
@TianiSimoneX 2 года назад
I’ve had a look at the Viovet ones too I actually prefer the colour of them so I’m likely going to get some soon. That’s really good to know that they don’t have the same gap issue 😊

@@TianiSimoneX They're absolutely fantastic - A rescue centre told me about them a few months ago, and I've never looked back lol. They're definitely a lot safer than the regular bendy bridges. I wish more companies sold bendy bridges that had no gaps in.

Hi, I'm new to hamster stuff and am a little confused. I've seen so many RU-vidrs use moss in their enclosures, but when I look up if moss is ok for hamsters on google, it says it's not. If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd really appreciate it! Maybe it's a dried vs alive moss thing?

Hi there. I was just wondering if I could use the moss that is in my driveway. Is that safe or will I need to ask my parents to order some for when I get my sweet little friend! Even though currently I have not got a hamster, I am collecting up tips for when I do happen to stumble across a breeder or a hamster close to me so one of my parents can drive me there to get her/him!

Hi! :) If it was me I would personally still buy it just to be sure there isn't any parasites etc. I bet you're so excited to get your little one :)
@C.Woodford
@C.Woodford 2 года назад
I would say no, just as you don't know what could be living in there or any bacteria that could be present. You also don't know what sort of animals could have peed on it etc. And you don't know what type of moss it is. Packaged moss usually grown inn a clean environment for the animals health
