UPDATE - One year later I can confirm that they completely eradicated the red mites, and it's only now that I've ordered another tube of poultry defender mites - they went a whole year without getting an infestation which I think is pretty good!
We use it too...Totally recommend it, we sprinkle in spring...we never even get them anymore. If it's seeming slow, just get another tube. It's so great I ordered a bioforce bug (I forget the name) to get rid of mealy bugs on my houseplants. It's working!
Thanks! I was actually looking for a video showing them before I ordered and couldn't find anything, so glad I managed to capture them doing their thing 😊 ... that's a great idea ordering in spring before they strike, I might do that next season!
Just piping in here sorry lol. They do seem to last..we top up in spring just as a preventative. But from the first time we ever used them, we never ever got a bad infestation again. We don't have to use poisons on our chooks either.
I found out the hard way, DO NOT use pine shavings or pine sawdust as a bedding material in the chook house if using Poultry Defender. The mites in Poultry Defender do not survive in the presence of pine shavings or sawdust.
Oh that's interesting - they still worked really well for us even with the pine shavings ... I'll having to do some reading on that, thanks for the tip 🙂
It doesn't seem to - of course the arrive in soil and you put them with the soil they come in ... I guess you could scoop some soil from outside as well for them maybe?
@@CheaperWaysNZ cause they are the devils animals freaky eyes, pecky beak, weird feet. They truly are horrible until dipped in egg wash dredged in flour and deep fried.
😂 ... I won't tell Muddle, Dotty Duck, Sky, Blackie, Bob, Panda, Sparky, Cinnamon, Nugget, Gumdrop, Snowy, Pakeo, Tinkerbell or Twinkle you said that ... (but they are delicious!)
Hi there - yes so Poultry Defender is another kind of mite that eats the Red Mites, and they don't bother the chickens so they're not a pest - it's certainly the most effective thing I've used to keep them at bay long-term!
@@ivanaveliskova3201 oh sorry I'm not sure if they're sold in Europe - I had a look but can't find anything. Here's a link to another method I use that's a spray that also works well at getting rid of them - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s26c5NIUB6U.html
