Using Prezi in Zoom Meetings and Presentations

Quick review of Prezi for Zoom meetings. I downloaded and tested Prezi during my lunch break. It lets you show your PowerPoint presentation to the side as you speak. You can also go from side-by-side to full presentation display with the click of a button.
Bottom line? I'm on the 14 day free trial, but I'm not sold.
There's certainly a wow factor. But is it worth it?
The cons: the templates are downright goofy. The animations and transitions are typical Prezi -- a bit too much, if you know what I mean! (i.e. -- can cause your audience to become motion sick!) You have to use Chrome: no Safari or Explorer. Also, my computer's fan was blowing like crazy while I used Prezi + Zoom! I felt I had to disconnect my mic to try to keep it from overheating! I prefer a better mic to better graphics, so that might be a deal breaker.
The pros: the price is right. It's $5 a month. You don't need a green screen. It works with Zoom, WebEx, GotoMeetings, Google Meet, and more. Prezi is kinda cool, but I dunno. I'll keep playing with it over the weekend to see if I'll keep it or not.

Thanks for the demonstration. I too am on the fence with it. Your real demo video is a balanced view of it. The promo videos always makes it so dynamic, fun, and easy to use. 😂

Thanks, Jenny. I wanted to like this so much, but in the end, it was too glitchy for me to consider moving forward with it. Maybe they'll improve in the coming months! Fingers crossed.

lol, had just downloaded Prezi and wasn't sure if i should go ahead with it for a class project (student). But yeah its a little dramatical especially with the templates. Thanx Laura for the review. I doubt I will go ahead with it.

Great tip! Complicating online meetings is just not good. It adds unnecessary stress and you could lose your audience in the process. I use Prezi, but I would not use this feature.

How do you change the background of the video presentation? I am having soo many issues...tbh I think just using zoom and share screen is easier.

First of all, you indicated that you were using the “free”version, which cost $5.00 per month. I’m wondering if the have a truly “free” version. Secondly, you’ve nicely gone through the templates and given us a great overview of the service. My main problem is the fact that you need to have both the Zoom and Prezi windows open in order to conduct a session. It seems like a lot of moving pieces to have to deal with for one meeting. I think I’ll pass. Thanks for your valuable input!

Your fun personality kept me engaged! I agree, those templates are horrible, but the last one could work if you sit at a nice angle the whole time, which could be uncomfortable. -_-

Has Prezi gotten those issues you pointed out fixed 8 months later since you recorded it? I am curious if they got those templates fixed?

Thanks für the Video; my question is: is there a good alternative? Presenting graphics while being seen speaking to the audience; and maybe throw some Video or a Full Screen Pic in there every now and then without having to navigate through your computer?

I'm still searching for an alternative that is modestly priced. You can get into switchers like El Gato to switch from one video source to another, but everything is a bit patched together and a little wonky right now.

It's awkward to use because because you neee to focus of two apps on the same time + there is too much animation instead of this there should be only fade in and fade out animation will look good & templates are also not very good.

Gigabyteservice I disagree. If using Zoom for remote teaching Prezi Video is FAR more convenient and effective than screen-sharing PowerPoint or Keynote via Zoom. Those two apps reduce you to a little rectangle in the corner AND take over your screens (even in dual monitor mode) so that you lose sight of your audience. Simply avoiding having to fumble around with selecting screen-share is a blessing. That Prezi Video operates within Zoom as a virtual camera is brilliant and contrary to being awkward is very smooth and streamlined-it’s screen-sharing through Zoom that is awkward. Finally, you are not restricted to the templates if you create from scratch on the Prezi website.
