Squarespace integrates with Mailchimp. But if you want your subscribers to be tagged with a specific tag in Mailchimp, the integration won't work. Here is a workaround that will help you automate tagging a lead in Mailchimp, adding them as a subscriber to Mailchimp, and automatically sending out an email to deliver the lead magnet to the audience member.

You are a legend! Thank you so much for this. At first I had a issue as my mailchimp interface was different, but when I found the button to use 'Classic Automation' (going back to the old style) not the new upgraded Customer Journey, the interface matched your video and worked a charm.

Oh good! Yes, they changed the interface since I made this video. You can also use a Customer Journey and scroll down to where it says something like "tag a customer" and you can get started that way too.

Amazing video! I followed step by step and I'm so thankful but I have a major issue. When I test, the custom journey email from Mailchimp aren't getting sent out. The new tagged contacts are getting added to the Google Sheet and the Mailchimp audience, but the email isn't going out. Any tips?

I figured it out!! Instead of choosing "Tag added" as the starting point, you'll choose "signs up for email" as the starting point for your automation. Then -- before saving starting point -- you'll choose "add a filter" and choose "tags" from the menu on the left. Choose the "contact is tagged" and THENNN choose the tag you want the automation to send to! The emails will then automatically send! Just a few small changes, everything else she said is accurate. IF THIS HELPS ANYONE PLEASE LIKE SO OTHERS CAN SEE THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT!

I've been searching for a solution around this for days! And I think your method might work for me. Would this work for growing a tagged list via multiple lead magnets (and customizing a nurture sequence for each tagged group) from Squarespace into Mailchimp? I just upgraded to the basic paid membership in Mailchimp so that I can create automations. It all feels so complex and overwhelming at the moment. Thanks so much for your video.

I absolutely do this. Yes. I set it up in Mailchimp to tag the person with something like Social Media Checklist (or whatever) and then I set it to trigger the automation in Mailchimp based on that tag.

Mailchimp asks me to have a paid basic plan to set up this email journey. You refer in your video that you don't need to pay for it. Am I missing something?

You can't follow her instructions any further if you have a free Mailchimp plan. I think she forgot to mention that.

Hmmm. That's strange. Do you have two factor identification on? Perhaps that could be slowing down the process?
