Thanks man. It took some work to do this one. I am glad you could get something out of it. Since everything is in a timeline you can skip the parts you already know. Thanks for the support, it helps more than you think.
@@XNBeatsMusic -- I'll be listening to all of it, even the things I already understand; if I had skipped the parts I "know" I would have missed your comment on the PWM/PW on Osc 1. And I am sure to learn even more when you go through the uniqueness of the "effects" section. Thanks!
I agree to watch the whole thing, but 2 minutes in? How? I mean, this is a board game from Burger....Mono Poly from Beh rin ger , not monopoly from Burger. Wait you are right, it is monopoly from burger. I DID LEARN something in the first two minutes.
IMO this videos are great, one example for it is that you explain in every video not only what the envelopes and ADSR are also how it works, on every synth is the same concept but may ve applied different and that is in a big way what gives a synth its sound and "personality"
I bought a KORG Mono/Poly in 1989 for £96.00 when all the analog synths were being dumped for digital: I remember being in the shop seeing Minimoogs going for £110.00(!!): I still have the Mono/Poly and it's one of my favourite synths. From the demos I've seen the Behringer is a very faithful clone and I'm going to be buying one and letting the KORG take it easy.
Luckt Cat, haha. I love the Behringer one. no doubt. But having the original is something else as a collector item adds a different value. I would do the same thing you want to do, use the Behringer for production and safekeep the Korg, because it's part of the history and a collector item.
@@XNBeatsMusic Yep: the KORG is going to get a well earned rest: It really is, in my opinion, a unique synth and I much prefer it to the Mini-moog. Still delighted with the purchase, even after all these years. All the best.
@Dandini Hey !!..Well, I have both and they are not comparable. I , personally would choose monopoly because I like to do synthwave. But, the MS20 is my Favorite classic synth, or maybe top 3. It has a different vibe, I would use it for gritty 90's/2000's daft punk old school....monopoly can give you this synth 80's vibe very quickly. So, my answer would be...depends on what you want to do :S
First comprehensive tute I've watched since hooking my new MonPoly up the other day! This synth is so intuitive that I didn't go in thinking I'd learn too too much, but it was in fact quite helpful. Cheers!
duuude! I can't thank you enough for doing this. I didn't even notice that I watched the whole thing, and somehow didn't want the tutorial to end. thank you thank you thank you!
Hi, nice video but you didn't mention that the MonoPoly has a peculiar portamento behavior: it is polyphonic in the sense that each oscillator's portamento has a slight time difference from the other, this gives a distinctive character to the sound. Try it in Poly mode. Behringer has implemented two portamento options which can be chosen with the SynthTribe app: original (as in the Korg Mono/Poly) and improved (standard portamento), that's a smart move IMO.
Just fyi your voice is cutting the audio of the synth in a very destructive and glitchy manner. For anyone considering this synth they may hear this as a problematic synth which of course is not the case. Of course the instruction is spot on.
Thanks !! .,.yeah, maybe I did too much gating. Sorry for that. I am using less on the newer videos, the problem with letting the voice and synth go out at the same level is that you either clip, or YT will compress the hell out of the video. But a couple people told me they prefer less ducking, so I am using less now. Thanks for the observation.
Great tutorial! Just got my B. Monopoly yesterday and i love it. A real proper old skool sound making machine. I'm ordering a white lab coat a tuning fork and half rim glasses . Did i miss auto damp? It was coming after trigger but you skipped on to key assign. 👍
What a good video tutorial! Do you recommend this synth for the second synth? I have a microkorg and thinking in go for something like that. Thanks for the tutorial!!
Wow, thanks man. It really helps. Half of the synths you see on this channel I get them to create the content. So the 10 bucks really help in keep this going. And getting more coffee...so thanks Mike !!!
@@XNBeatsMusic I literally just received my MonoPoly yesterday, so I watched your vid a second time. I make videos too, so I know how much work goes into such a thing. Thanks for the hard work you put into such a complete video overview. I’m digging the MonoPoly and am so happy it integrates easily into a CV-based system, too (as opposed to my MS-20, and many digital synths).
congratulation !! Yeah it's a good instrument.I am a fan of that era so access to a clon, because getting the original is practically impossible, it's great. Yeah, it is a lot of hard work. Thanks for appreciating it :)
I don't think so, unless I get one. All the synths I cover is because I own them. If behringer want to provide it, I'll do it, but i think we are very far from that :S
@XNB Have you ever found an (official / unofficial) fix for the widespread VCA bleed issue which plagues many of the Behringer MonoPoly re-issues? I love the synth and use it on many projects ... but this is fast-becoming unmanageable, especially for live use. Mine's started to behave quite badly in this respect, to the point where I've temporarily fitted a noise gate to resolve the amount of bleed! This is not ideal. Given this will likely be a calibration issue, as someone who is competent with electronics, I'd like to attempt it myself rather than risk being without the synth for several months following a service RMA.
Hi guys, i just bought my monopoly this week, and having big troubles :/ I turned on, waited for 15 minutes then I can’t trigger notes via the keyboard. I mean, it triggers a note but it only sounds a simple tone that doesn’t keytrack, only plays the same note over and over again. The VCO’s lights are always on as if i was triggering notes non stop. It’s weird because everytime i reset the synth the “sound” only comes back like if i were on 16’ (lower octave range) on the VCO. But if i move it up it resets and transposes one octave up. Strange. Also, the Key Assign Mode remains unusable i don’t know why and its only on Unison Mode , the effects section is Off and no matter how i press it it doesn’t lits up, leaving this section of my synth unusable.
@@XNBeatsMusic my Behringer Monopoly arrived today so will be rewatching this a number of times this week. Have you considered doing a top 5 presets for this synth?
@@ciaopete hey congratulations !! Oh yeah, a lot more than 5. But maybe in a few weeks, uploaded a lot of heavy content. I am on a timeout right now. But I will, of course this is one of my favs.
Hey men, thanks. As fas as I know, no, you cannot. So, yeah, you need to go old school on this one. But that's the idea right ? But I cannot argue it would be useful to have the option to do so.
How do you transpose to C0? At the lowest setting on the panel, it only goes down to C1 at 16'. I need at least one octave lower (two would be even better). The PolyD can do this.
I’m absolutely loving my monopoly but I have a problem that is driving me mad, when I use the arpeggiator it only plays for like a measure then stops,if I select ‘on or latch’ it doesn’t play constantly, any ideas ? I’ve copied all your settings but it still doesn’t work and I’ve updated the firmware too. Thanks for the video!!

Hey dude! So I got mine new today but the ship me it un calibrated, I cannot play it because no pitch from the keys when I press them :( Any idea how I fix this?
Uhh,...sorry for the late response. Could you fix it ? Make sure you are on a default patch. Check the manual, the part it says first sounds. The calibration is super simple, you can do it minutes, that is not a problem. But if it's not responding to incoming signal from the KB, use the warranty.
