I have that same mill, and I use the g660 for milling. In a year, I've basically had to rebuild the entire saw as parts go bad. It works ok as long as somebody doesn't mind fixing things as they break and buying OEM parts which can be expensive. I also have the mill, and found it to be really cheesy. they didn't send out washers for the coupler nuts and the coupler nuts were too short, so they literally couldn't be tightened. I needed to buy longer nuts and washers as well. Those wing nuts on the top rail won't stay tight, they can't clamp down on that chromed rod. Holzzforma has pretty difficult customer service, and after a few months of back and forth just stopped responding. I ended up taking the rails from the farmer tech mill and putting them on my granberg mill. The price difference between the granberg and the holzfforma isn't significant enough to risk it on that farmer tech mill. Granberg makes affordable and bulletproof mills.

As soon as I get a shop I can tinker in I'm going to get a couple clone saws for sure to round out my weak spots in the collection and to have an extra bar set up on others

I get it . We get what we pay for . With that said Farmertec sent me the G888 , bar , chain , and mill to review and make videos with . If I have to replace a few parts here and there I’m ok with that . I believe I actually watched your milling videos a few times . Keep up the great work !

I did want to ask how do you deal with the exhaust just blasting in your face the whole time you mill . That sucks lol

@@KyleHallwoodworker yea its like 10 min straight of it, a lot of saws dont like being on the top end for that long like that. I forgot to mention but you might be already on it so for anyone else reading this: position your logs slightly down hill to save a TON of energy hahaaa

Thanks for the video. I just watched it and Because of your video I'm going to order this setup. Put it together and mill some hickory. I'm hopeful that I will be able to make it look as easy as you do. Make the video milling 2 or 3 logs or a big stump. Love your video can't wait to check out the others.

Keep it as straight and sharp as possible, maybe even throw a winch on it if you're running it solo. Save yourself sanding time later with the no wiggle

Jack one end up and let gravity help out. My G888 is nothing but a disappointment so far. Working on it now. I think my clutch bearing exploded after less than 3 hours use, and having to replace a faulty ignition coil right off the bat.

Wonderful video. What fuel mix do you use? 25:1, 32:1 or 50:1? I just got a g660 and the instructions are not clear because the instructions says 32:1 and on the box 25:1. Thanks

Break in 6 tanks 25:1 then I run 32:1 . I looked up articles and did what a few others are doing with them

Hi I am interested in the chainsaw milling, Just wondering I only see a link for 660 not 888. Also I wondering if you can try the other way to chainsaw mill? Standing up beside log and cut down into log. (without mill)

The link will take you to their site where you can search for the 888 . You can definitely stand and cut the length of the log with out a mill . This is an ok approach for small very small 2-3ft long logs. With practice you can get a fairly straight piece . As far as milling anything long or wanting consistency in the boards your cutting a mill is the way to go .

@@KyleHallwoodworker Hi I seen someone show how to mill without a mill and they preferred this technique over a mill and they got straighter boards, and faster process that is why I wanted to tell you about it. You can cut long board too. You set your log up and go to the side of it then start cutting down into the board. moving the saw back and forth. you cut with the tip of the saw and it is less drag on the saw. You are milling and thought you would be interested. I seen the 888 on the site after looking but thought there was a discount from your link must have just been a sale on site cause no sale for 888. I heard people say dont get 888, 660 is better build from them what do you think?, Also will you please be honest and update anything that goes bad or you dont like about saw in future? I am looking at getting one of these saws but not sure if I should or not! Are you planning to do any part replacing with Sthil 880?

Just Dont. Save your money and buy a Stihl. I could have bought a new 880 for time down working on the farm tech G888.
