This is a very basic setup for using the IC-7300 as a shortwave receiver. This is not an exhaustive, definitive guide, it's the basic nuts and bolts of getting it done.

Switching the display to show the frequency scope

Bypassing the antenna tuner
Setting the audio filter
Turning down the RF to reduce signal noise
How to figure out who you are listening to
The video doesn't mention antennas. There are so many antenna options for ham use, shortwave listening is sort of a relief, as the listener can get away with using only a long piece of wire, and the antenna does not need to be tuned.
(Okay, if you think tuning your antenna before SW listening, that's fine, and it may help to some degree. But, it's not as important as it is in transmitting on HF. Remember, this is the quick and easy guide, not the comprehensive guide, so antenna tuning isn't needed for that.)
What kind of antenna am I using? This video was made using a home-made wire loop, 750' of insulated copper wire, about 65' off the ground. I have another receiver (Drake 2B) that connects to a 100' long copper wire tethered to a pine tree about 35' up. It works almost as well as the loop.
