#ilovervlife #TST770TPMS #RVtireMonitor We are always on the lookout for ways to make our RV travel safer. Finding a way to manage our tire pressures became critical having experienced not one but two catastrophic tire blowouts that caused extensive damage to our previous 5th wheel. When we purchased our Montana 5th wheel in 2022, we made sure it was equipped with a Truck Systems Technologies tire pressure monitoring system. In this blog and attached video, we share the features and ease of installation of the TST 770 tire monitor in our RV to improve safety and tire longevity as we travel in our Montana 5th wheel.

I bought my GeoPro 20FBS last month and wanted to set up my system because our first trip is coming up soon. Your video popped up and I decided to view it to give me an idea before starting. It was a great video, thank you. After reading the description, I could not believe you just posted this video an hour before. Talk about timing and coincidences. Thank you so much.🙂

Hey Jerry! Thanks for all of the great videos. A TST is a MUST!!! Just this week, our TST showed one of our motorcycles trailer tires was 25 degrees warmer than the other. Come to find out that we had a bearing failure. Without the TST we surely would have lost that wheel off of the trailer going down the highway! Catastrophic damage would have occurred. Thanks again for your advice. May your roads be smooth and camp sites level!!! Brendan & Lena

Thanks for watching. This is a very good system to catch those tire and wheel issues before they become bigger problems. Great to hear it work when you needed it!

I had a blowout in Louisiana in January. I think my Tireminder did help and alert me. I stopped and looked at it and didn't see anything but then it held air for an hour before it blew and it did alert me beforehand. I would caution you about using the cap type on the truck. I really liked having them on my truck, but I had 3 tire stem failures on the truck. Never had a failure on the camper, but after all those issues I took them off the truck.

I’m using metal stems on the truck. I’ll let you know how they hold up.

@@iLoveRVlife i couldn’t find a metal stem pack compatible with my ram. I will say if you haven’t seen it there is a great metal stem replacement for trailers called the Colby extra short. Tireminder recommended them for my previous 15” trailer wheels as the contour wouldn’t allow a normal metal stem. It’s great to keep for emergencies too as it is installed without removing the tire

I have the tst on my 5th wheel and I did have a blowout with no warning. Just a tire failure. By the way these tires were less than 600 miles old and in date.Tire temp and psi were in range. So tst does not have capability to catch everything. Still love my tst and except some things can not be prevented. Thanks for your video!

Unfortunately, If the tires aren’t over or under in pressure or temp, there’s nothing to alarm. I had TowMax on the Gateway. Wish I had done the research on this brand before travel and has a TPMS. Separation occurred over 3,000 to 3,500 miles. Heat build up blew them to shreds.

Not covered in ANY TST 770 video I have watched. Nice unit. It can take up to TWENTY minutes for the device to recognize your tires once powered up. Don't think the device "forgot" your pairing (Learning) when you turn it off. You must give it time to reconnect with the tires.
@TonyBenton0728
@TonyBenton0728 Год назад
One thing you didn’t cover is the fact that you can rotate the tires and resetting the location. That’s why I got it three months ago. And Techno RV was who I got it from. The only thing that I have had a problem with it will lose signal on occasion with a single tire but will regain it in a few minutes. I will be interested to see what it shows when we get into northern New Mexico the second week of May the town of Eagle Nest elevated 8250 ft. I looked at the temperature yesterday it was 19 degrees in the morning high about 56. Should be warmer when we get there.
@iLoveRVlife
@iLoveRVlife Год назад
That is a nice benefit. I don’t rotate the dually. I know….big debate. Hope warmer weather comes to your travels.

I have a TST unit on my fifth wheel. Last year on are way home from Florida and lost a tire on the fifth wheel. I didn't know it till a passing truck flaged me that I lost a tire. After 5 hours later and a mile walk back for the tire, I was back on the road. PS the tire monitor didn't tell me the wheel was missing.

Sorry to hear that. Interesting. I tested the new 770 several times, turning off and on. It took around 5 minutes to refresh.

'GOLDEN YEARS TRAVELING' Thanks Jerry for another great informational video about an RV Accessorry that in my personal opionion is an essential product to have and use. Besides loosing a tire during a blowout, the extensive damage to your RV caused by the blowout can be rather extensive and expensive. Best wiohes to you and Joan on your upcoming new journey. Have a safe, comfortable time and God be with you.

Thanks Steve. Those blow outs can be catastrophic. Have a friend that had the floor ripped out of their slide out when the tire exploded. Small price to pay for added safety.

Thanks Jerry, great video ! Where can you find temp and psi limits for a tire in order to set the alerts? Safe travels
@iLoveRVlife
@iLoveRVlife Год назад
I run my pressure based on the side of the tire. As far as temp, TST has set the limits based on their knowledge. Most tire manufacturers have spec sheets online if a reference is needed.

Jerry, I own the 507 display. And I think new display is backwards compatible with just using my existing sensors. My main question, is that beside the bigger display and the second compass screen, is there any other warnings this newer units provides verses the 507? Thank you👍😎
@iLoveRVlife
@iLoveRVlife Год назад
No changes in sensors. Both monitors worked. Same warnings. Better display. Can set up one tow vehicle and screens for 5 trailers. Helpful for those who have RV, boat, etc. Does have the second screen with compass, trip mileage, speed, and altimeter which is nice.

Jerry, I need to get s new TPMS system for my RV. I used to have a EEZ Tire TPMS but after 5 years of occasional use, it stopped working altogether. I've looked at TST units, Tireminder units as well as another EEZ Tire unit. I reached out to all three companies for more information and why I should choose one of their units and the only company that got back to me was TST, by phone, and within 15 minutes of sending them an email as well! Because of their quick response, I'm likely going to choose TST but I'm torn between the 507 model and the 770 model. First, are you still using the 770 model and are you happy with it? Second, if you are happy with it, would you choose the 507 or 770 if you were in the market to buy one? Thanks.
@iLoveRVlife
@iLoveRVlife 10 месяцев назад
Both are good units. I prefer the 770. Larger screen, improved presentation, more mounting options. I had an issue pairing one of the internal units that was installed at the factory. Called TST, got a tech quickly, and he gave tips to pair and stayed on the line until all was working. Superb service. If I had it in the budget, I’d buy the 770.

@@iLoveRVlife Thank you Jerry. I trust your advice and love your videos. Keep up the great job you're doing! One more question if I may...My new truck doesn't have a 12V outlet but it does have USB A and USB C receptacles. Will I be able to unplug the cable from the 12V plug and plug that USB C connector in directly for power?
@iLoveRVlife
@iLoveRVlife 10 месяцев назад
@robh063 Thanks so much. You should be able to depending on the USB power rating. I’m running ours on a standard USB 2.1 amp connection. The 770 has rechargeable batteries so the USB connection is keeping the batteries topped off.

Great product demo. Considering a TPMS for our 22' TT, would the repeater be needed? what psi are these rated for?
@iLoveRVlife
@iLoveRVlife Год назад
Hi Tim and thanks. I would if nothing more than to ensure a strong signal to the monitor and eliminate any chance of interference.
@sealanderadventures
@sealanderadventures Год назад
It will work, as it works on 27' TT. But Jerry brings up an excellent point about strengthing your signal to avoid interferences. It is just too easy to just go ahead and install the repeater. Just remember, it's pulling power if directly attached to battery. I just pull the fuse when not in use. This product is a must for any rv and your vehicle, due to all the extra warningsit provides! Lease don't wait. Best investment in your safety and rv damage prevention. Safe travels friend 👍😎

How hot is too hot and how much is to high on pressure on your tires.
@iLoveRVlife
@iLoveRVlife Год назад
Hi Bill. It depends on the tire. The manufacturer has specs on tire performance and most can be found online. TST has standard settings based on acceptable ranges that are set as default if you can’t find you specs. I run my pressure at side wall specs found on the tire. Set that on the TST 770 and use the defaults.
