Just love your mission Mindy...I was so touched by your testimonial of your Father and Grandfather...it is so wonderful that a company like yours exists that has the best health interests of it’s customers in mind...thank you thank you thank you😊🌈
I learned a lot from this video like the trace minerals. soil conditioning and growth hormone. Since I will be starting a container garden this year, I also loved seeing just how little goes a long way
Great video. It should be noted that the amounts and strength of pesticides used today is nothing like tthose in decades past. I do not use chemicals on my farm BUT this means a lot more work because plants must now get their nutrients from the soil instead of artificially. We have enormous worm bins (in the ground) and make hundreds of pounds annually that we put on the soil. We also compost between rows (burying all manner of bio material) and this attracts worms,
I am so happy with your mini series; feeding your garden. I just bought my first work castings. I can still return it, so I'm hoping to now buy vermisterra thanks to u. I learned that they funner them normal, aged for 7yrs, and organic, no fillers. Sounds like a great company. I love family owned, & chemical free. I'm new to indoor and outdoor plants since my recovery from a 2 month coma i was in. It is my saving grace. My best therapy is watching them grow. 😊 thanks
I learned that you can't use too much. What an engaging video. As a family battling cancer, we are glad to see Mindy's committment to the environment--and to your commitment CaliKim.
I have never use worm casting in my garden, I am very excited that there is actually an organic fertilizer that can be effective for such a long time. The characteristics of the product are just so amazing being odorless and safe around humans and pets. Can't wait to try it in my garden this coming spring.
I am happy to hear that worm castings don't burn your plants, I have burnt a lot of my gardening with manure. Thank you so much for all the information. I am glad it is light and helps with air action.
The quality of those castings is amazing. I was using Home Depot castings before I started vermicomposting. The store bought variety is diluted at least 4:1 with inert bedding materials. The difference is pretty incredible. I use a blender to prepare my worm food from kitchen scraps. I don't even screen my compost - I just pick out the worms and larger bits of bedding and top dress my planters. Fresh castings will have live worm cocoons and a bunch of tiny beneficial insects that form a complex soil web of life - they break down rotting organic stuff so that plants can access those nutrients. They will help break down organic fertilizer amendments and make much better use of them in your soil. After the plant dies, the dead roots will provide even more food for the soil web. Just top dress with more castings, amend with organics and wait a little while before planting so the critters have time to do their thing. Make them work hard so you don't have to!
Thank you Miss Kim for bringing us Miss Mindy and all of the wonderful information about worm castings! We are starting our first garden (Organic) this year and this literally answered all of my questions...SO awesome! Thank you again and have a Blessed day!
Great video. I like the personal touch for this product by the family. Like your other product videos, I like the down to earth "experts" that you have to help you with these products. Some of which I then purchased. Thanks and keep up for the next 5 years and beyond!
I have difficulty keeping my worms through the winter here in Alaska. Good to know I can order fromj this company. I did not know that worm castings are better with age.
I learned that worm castings have an earthy smell unlike other manuer products which always grosses me out and is the reason I've never used in the past... so happy to hear that this organic way of fertilizing does not have that and lends itself as an option for me. Thanks for sharing such an informative video...You both did such an awesome job and I am even more inspired to go organic! Thanks so much! :)
I started a small worm farm last fall and am just about ready to harvest some of the castings. Now I know how to use them, and also to stop feeding them paper and cardboard. Thanks Kim!
You’re AWESOME Mindy! You’re dad and grandpa are looking down at you and are really proud at what your doing. I’m proud of you and I don’t know you. My dad has cancer and I’ve been making sure he is eating as clean organic as possible. Thank you!
I have always heard that you want to use it quickly so learning it can be composted for years and be great for soil was good to know. Glad I watched the video.
It's a learning experience to know about worm castings. We were able to see worms in a container in our local garden financed by the municipal govt. But there's no one who explained to us its benefits. How blessed I am for the info received from this video. Thanks.
🌱 Great! I learned that worm castings doesn't contain animal waste with VermisTerra so it won't smell horrible when i use it and it is safe as well. Good to know! 💫
I'm watching this again. I've been using vermisterra for a year since you encouraged us to when I found this video as well as others. It feels great to use a product that is natural on veg my family is eating.
wow it was so heartfelt when she was speaking about her dad but I learned so much I am new to gardening and I do not like outside creatures so I wanted to grow an inside container garden. I just learned the benefits of worms to the garden. I also learned that your plants use fungi to help them grow. Thank you for the videos I see me having a productive start to my garden
Hi Kim, OUTSTANDING video!! Love using worm castings! I have the Worm Factory 360 with Red Worms in it and it is going 365 days a year! Lots of fun watching them and feeding them! Been using these Worm castings for a couples years now with fantastic results! One thing I did not know is that you can use Worm castings in little trays and start your seeds in them! Thanks for sharing this video! Looking forward to the next series in feeding your garden!!
Hello Dan, they are super helpful for seed starting, and really help keep the fungus gnats at bay as well. I've seen such great results germinating my seeds in them. Thx for watching!
From this video I learned that aged worm casting are more beneficial to plants than fresh castings. As a new gardener(just started last year) these tips are very helpful and I will write this down in my gardening notebook. This tip also ties in nicely with information from a composting book I recently read which stated that unfinished compost can rob nitrogen from your soil, and therefore your plants, since it will be used to complete the composting process. This video was very informative and very helpful and it will change how I use worm castings. Thank you so much Kim and Mindy! :)
I love that they can be used in pots and that you don't have to use a lot as well as it won't burn your plants. Looking forward to hearing about the tea.
Kim, always a weather contrast between California and Ny, so I'm always trying to change my train of thought while watching your videos ❄☉🤔 I will be starting up MIgardener and Baker's Creek seedling next month, and I like how pure and concentrated this worm casting is! A little goes a long way! I didn't know it can be paired with cocoir as a seed starter, but will do! What a sweet girl to share her story. God bless her Grandpa and Dad! They would be so proud of her!!!!
Hi Kim! I didn't know that worm castings are better aged. Great video. I just wanted to say that I recently heard about you through one of Luke's live videos on Facebook and I'm so glad I did! So many new things to learn. -Danielle from Ohio
I’m only halfway through this video, and I want to just say THANK YOU! I’ve only been gardening for a couple of months and watching CaliKim has educated me sooo much! I’m a full time nanny and thought gardening would be fun to do with the boys I take care of. Preparing the bed, picking the veggies, and checking the growth everyday makes my spirit shine!!!
Aww- thank you for those kind words- I’m super happy your enjoying the vids and glad you are able to share your inspiration with the boys! Thanks for your support!
Great video!! I had no idea there were companies that made worm castings! That is so awesome! What a great product and great company! Thanks for sharing!!
GREAT VID! I just harvested my first batch of worm castings from a small worm bin I tried for the first time. I learned how to do it with various youtube vids.. THis one is GREAT for learning how to USE them in the garden for the best results! THANK YOU SO MUCH !! and thanks to BOTH of you on this one!
Thank you so much for this video it was very informative and heart warming. I have a little 4 year old nephew and I want him to eat as natural as possible. We have been growing our small garden and learning a lot. Definitely worm castings is a great way to treat your garden without the many dangers of chemical feeding products for plants and pesticides. Thank you so much Mandy for the work you and your family do to educate and help the farmers growing our food. I hope one day chemicals and pesticides won't be used anymore so people can live longer and healthier lives. I have used worm castings before and like Kim said, I noticed a huge difference in plants.
Forgot to mention that I had no idea that using cardboard and newspapers for the housing of worms would be considered a filler. I know many worm farms use this method, it's interesting to learn you can have an event healthier casting material 😊
Always thought the early you harvest the worm casting the better. I didn't realize that it is better to to let it sit longer. 7 to 10 years I was amazed. Good information.
We ordered worm castings from Mindy at Vermisterra 2 days ago and received our order today along with a really nice note from Mindy. So excited to garden tomorrow! Thanks for the great videos. :)
Ya can't use too much nor can ya "burn" the plants. I appreciated Mindy meticulously explaining the differences between Worm Castings, it's usage and positive benefits to the soil and my plants. THANKS.
seedlings are ready in 3 days . very happy ! You will not be sorry. Bit I suggest you raise your own. Easy and very beneficial. Worms will eat your garbage
I just placed an order for worm tea and castings. I’m beyond excited! I’d heard you talking about it in other videos, but when I saw you two speak about it so passionately in this video, I was sold on the idea behind the company/product as well as the effectiveness of it. Did I mention I was excited? Thank you so much for your knowledge, Calikim! I’ve learned so much from you over the year and have grown my garden because of your tutorial videos. P.S. I LOVE your beautiful garden.
Great video, Mindy and CaliKim. I learned you use worming casting once a season....love that. That's Vermisterra for the opportunity for the giveaway. Love all your videos CaliKim.
Outstanding Kim, another great video. Your interview was Great! I did not realize that Worm castings can help so much. I will be adding more to my soil this season. Thank you and Thank you, Mindy from Vermis Terra, I will be checking out your site!
hello! my name is rio i'm 11 and my mommys garden could really use this because i learned that the stuff that the chemicals they plants can be really bad for you and i also learned that leafs help bring out worms, and how beautiful the worm castings made your plants.
Thank You for doing this video. I will try that starter mix next year for my seeds.I am using worm castings for my first time this year.I wanted to learn more on worm castings and how much to use as i am making my own potting soil mix this year to save money. You two have made me very happy today . You feed the soil, and it will feed your plants well.Good gardening wishes to all this year!.
My problem is i live in az so I have to buy worms. But, I didn’t know about the immunity to plants that can happen w the worm casting. I hear it’s fertilizer that won’t burn but not that part. That’s awesome to know. I want to have a raised garden that has worms in it fir excellent health of the raised bed. I didn’t know that adding worm casting to a worm rich soil can enhance it that’s great to know as well especially since I have to buy worms fir my garden here in az. I also bought a worm farm indoors thinking u had to buy way too much worm castings to make it affordable. Bc they ain’t cheap to buy so I didn’t know that I can just add them to each plant instead. Also didn’t know that worm castings may come w worm cocoons! So this video was awesome to help me plan for my future grow garden n raised garden in Arizona back yard! Ty
I just LOVE hearing stories as this where people are learning and applying what they've learned! GREAT JOB, Karen! Please, keep us all posted! So exciting!! Kim
Amazing video ladies thank you so much for all the information. I haven't started yet. The Cali Kim videos have definitely been helping me was trying to figure out where to start.THANK YOU!!
Hello CaliKim, thank you for responding to my question about the worm casting. After I posted that question I went on your video list and noticed a video you did about the casting.I guess I missed it because I've been doing a lot of traveling lately, but I really do appreciate you taking the time out to respond, and yes I did put in an order for sure, because I trust your word on products. Thank You!
You are so welcome, ragweed1217, and thanks so much for your trust in the products we use! I love the quality of these products and being able to test and recommend something that I know works is really important. Would love to hear what results you have in your garden! Happy gardening!
Great episode! I had no idea that you only have to feed castings once a growing season. That's awesome!! Just finished putting in the brambles today and added some castings at the bottom of the planting holes.
I bought the castings and the tea. I'm excited to see how much my garden changes this season. I hope that Vermisterra runs this special sale again in 2019.
i learned so much from this video. I like many always thought the fresher the worm castings was the better, i learned that the older it is it is actually better because when its fresh there is still undigested matter that is still decomposing. it is interesting that they have no fillers in this brand that the customer is actually getting a truly organic product, that is actually safe for the plant and we won't have to worry about any adverse effect from the foods we grow and eat. Keep the videos coming Cali.Very informative.
I will be using worm castings to start my seeds from now on! Such an informational video, Kim. I didn't realize how beneficial worm castings can be. Super job!
I started using the worm casting and the tea from Vermisterra and my flowers and my vegetable seedlings are doing great. Thanks for the help for a gardening newbie.
I had no idea worms only eat the dead in the garden and keep away from eating the living! This whole video was a learning experience for me. Thanks so much!
She is a cool guest you had :) That is neet to hear that the worm eggs sometime end up in there. This was something I had thought would happen. :) Thanks for sharing :)
I had no idea what worm casting or tea was much less the impact of having worms in your garden. Your video, as always, was very informative! Thank you Kim and Vermisterra!
I am very impressed by the benefits described from using worm castings. I had never heard of using them before. It was interesting to learn that this product is aged 7-10 years. Thank you for the wonderful information you give us.
Wow, I learned that fresher castings aren't better because they are not finished breaking down. I was thinking fresh was better. You learn something every day!!! Thanks,Great video.
I knew that worm castings provided good nutrients for plants and enhanced their growing medium, but i learned that they contain trace minerals, elements and even natural growth hormone and that they have taken the place of chemicals used by farmers who want to grow organically. Thank you CaliKim and Vermisterra.
I did not know you could mix coco fiber with the worm compost. I used to teach science with students using a worm farm. When I retired I brought it home. It is great for plants and now I will use it to start plants too. Thank you
I love worm castings! I didn't know it wasn't as good to give your worms newspapers and cardboard. I just recently bought my first batch of red wigglers. Thank you for all the great information!
I have worms in a couple of bins and I use them around my plants. I didn't realize you could use so much of the worm castings to 1 square foot. I figured that a few tablespoons would do. Thanks for the information.
I'm so excited I have a huge tote filled with worm casting from worms I ordered on line. it's been a year now. since I started. and I have so much for this year! can't wait to see the difference in my fruits and veggies. :) thank you for your videos.! you have inspired me.
Great video, thanks to CaliKim and her guest. I learned that worn castings provide soil with PH of 7 (neutral), also the worn castings are more than N,P,K, it has good bacterias for healthy roots.
Wow that was a very informative video. I knew very little about worm casting before your video series. I’ve been composting for years and usually just pile up my leaves and yard waste into a corner of my yard. I always got a lot of worms in my compost and found that the more worms in my compost pile the better my plants would do. Now I know why. I’m very curious to try worm casting and worm tea in my garden this year. Thank you for sharing a great video.
I love worms and all they give back to our gardens....I am starting to use worms to reduce our food scrap waste and between that and recycling, we only have a very small bag of regular trash per week, sometimes even less!! I loved learning about the connection between the wavelengths of the plant and pests. Worms Rock!!
I love this method of gardening. Very informative, I did not know to use Worm Casting in seed starting with Coco Core! I am so excited! I have a commercial greenhouse at our Ranch, we are moving there in about 5 months the house is nearly completed. I have been experimenting with various methods in the green house. Definitely doing all organic! I have already placed an order for some of the Vermis Terra produces! Thank you for this very helpful video!!
Thank you! We harvest them, store and screen them from any compost or wood etc. That way you get what you pay for; pure castings. Ours are organic and tested in Labs to make sure you don't get any heavy metals in your soil. Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for the great information! Haven't done much research on worm castings, so lots of new and good information. I was especially interested to learn that worm castings offer more than just NPK and that it is gently enough to use with seedlings! Definitely going to be buying some this year and adding it to my seed starting mix, as well as my garden!
I am new into growing vegetables and fruit trees in containers. And I been interested in learning about worm casting and how to use them. And you both answer my questions!
I had no idea you could age worm castings. I always thought they lose their microbial activity the longer they sit. Thanks to both of you for the informative video.
This had been a real learning video. I had no idea you could buy the tea, castings, or any of these products. I so excited. This is a while new world for me. I'm for sure going to buy from them. I feel so strongly about what I put into my mouth has to be organic if at all possible. I vitamix my compostbeforeputting it into the bins so that a lot of the breakdown is already done. A really fast process when I do that.
I was diagnosed with MS in Sept, 2014, since then I've tried to monitor what I eat. I have also tried growing my own vegetables, and I'm still learning. I love your videos, they give me a good foundation. I have been curious about worm castings so this has been very informative. I didn't know that the castings contains worm eggs and can help bring worms to your garden.
I too was Dxd w MS at 22 in '09 and through use of disease modifiers ive finally got it to settle down some w tecfidera. Tysabri worked til it didnt. Tecfidera shocked me by unlocking my memories long thought forgotten in 3 months! MS has created challenges as a hobby gardener here in SC as the weather is punishing. I bought for coconut core and worm castings and hope to have more success than ive been experiencing this far. Hopefully ill manage to save enough to plant an avocado tree to help provide much needed shade after several years of pruning back and down all the bushes and trees that made the squirrel come to mischief around in my garden. Trying irish spring this summer to repel pests since you know how devastating it is to have a hungry visitor w how much effort MS creates 4 simple plessurefuĺ tasks like gardening out oem food.
A smith bless you all. I was diagnosed in 2008, but MRI showed lesions in the infant layer of my brain, and symptoms for sure began by 16. I understand what a joy and torture, gardening can be. As I write this I’m hurting terribly from a 3 day root pulling and planting marathon. It’s a good thing it’s stormy today, I am forced to rest. I have a feeling you know what I’m going through. May all our efforts be blessed. I know for sure that it brings me more joy than pain. 💕
I had no clue weak plants attracted pests! Thanks for all the great information and sharing your sunny garden with those of us who are currently in gloomy -20ºC weather!
incrediblelolo God has a way of eliminating sick plants. All of the de composers will be found in your compost pile. Once you start composting you really begin to appreciate God's cycles.
I want some worm poop! I didn't know about the worm casting tea. Also, I understand that worms do eat organic material so it only makes sense that they would provide nutrients in their waste. I didn't really think about the trace mineral aspect of it. The chance of getting worm eggs in the castings is also a bonus. Can't wait to give worm castings a try this season.
Thank you for the worm castings video. I didn't realize that worm casting would be so good for starting plants. Thank you for that information and all the other details about using worm castings.
Thank you very much for the warm casting video I'm new to the gardening and I'm just started a new Garden I've been wondering about the worm castings and how to use them and you answer my question is certainly appreciate that God bless you all
I did not know what worm castings were at all so learned a lot from the video. Like I didn't know you cannot use too much as it won't burn the plant. Very informative.
I started a worm bed with an old piece of carpet used munched leaves and put carpet down , this was last year, this year I went out yesterday lifted carpet and had tons of worms and lots of castings, just scraped the top couple inches put down more leafs and put carpet back down to let them keep doing their thing, probably got 40 to 50 lbs of castings, gonna age them for a bit . just an idea for making your own.
