@@felixluna6992 @TechnicolorMammoth not saying they're a small team rather acknowledging that the matches between US and Ghana have always been tight so this is a shock. Whatever the case seems US outplayed Ghana by far.
lol. How many times in the last 4 years has Gio been healthy at the same time as Weah. I mean seriously, both of them spent like 50% of the time injured over the last few years. There was almost no time when playing Gio centrally wouldn't have meant putting someone weaker into the winger position. And besides that, Gio is maturing people.
That indirect was so cool great first half followed by an average second half seems to be a theme lately… although I will say I’m glad to see Gregg let some other guys get more minutes, finally putting together solid squads
The 2nd half was trash because in both games Gregg reverted the formation back to his usual 4-3-3 system. Not a coincidence I think. Wonder if Gregg will finally see the writing on the wall and get rid of Berhalter ball. This window clearly showed how much it stifles our team's attack.
@@j_james_01We tied with England and Wales at the World Cup. We also won back-to-back Nations League titles. We're not on the same level as Brazil or France but we're definitely trending up the ranks each year.
Weah's development has been great to witness. I still think he can be even better if he worked on his finishing a bit more. Dest has great potential too I hope PSV works out for him 🙏
Our starting XI is good. In real games we should keep it for the majority of the match and sub a few players as time goes on. Obviously since it’s friendlies they sub out a lot of players at once but good game from the first team players
@@XxAlex530xXright. From now till World Cup 2026 Gregg’s job is to find depth because in tournament you need depth. Wish Tillman wasn’t injured, and a healthy Tyler back so we can rotate, him, Musah or Wes in midfield. Johnny playing well is encouraging and our left back situation when Jedi is not available or can’t go the distance in every match.
Germany game proved that the first XI's backline needs tweaking. Dest will always be a liability defensively and Richards shouldn't be starting if he's out of form bc he's not getting club minutes. Dest may be better deployed as a backup winger and there's too much depth at CB not to use it when Richards is out of form.
@@XxAlex530xX That's the modus operandi for every team in friendlies, my guy. Their clubs don't want these guys getting overworked or injured in these games.
Balo was incredible in this game they were definitely finding him more and he was getting some great opportunities and he was also great at creating opportunities for himself
yeah might have finally found our Striker... and the Pepi kid seems to be a good alternate too. (speaking of... really thought Sargent was going to be our guy.... but damn, he obviously seemed to be a bust).
WISH THO DEMPSEY, DONOVAN, and TIM HOWARD was in this generation/squad. If we had them 3... well especially Dempsey and Howard... We would be a complete team and dangerous AF for an American team wise...
Germany taught us some things about ourselves. Good response. You can already see some of the improvements defensively. And it started with the effort.
@@j_james_01 I ain’t getting carried away with this win buddy. But structurally you see the corrections made. That’s all I ask. Improvement from game to game. Attention to detail, better defensive effort and organization. And then how quickly can we use our pace to strike.
You mean Futbol😂 you ignorant clown. At least spell it right. Football is an America spot where they throw the ball. Soccer err Futbol isn't spelled football anywhere. They didn't teach you anything did they root for a sport you can't spell, genius. 🥳
this was a stage performance...Ghana was acting and not really play football. A bought out event. Ghana is a serious nation team, this is not the real Ghana at all.
@@am5790Ghana had the youngest team in the WC2022. So they’re still developing. That being said, i expected the likes of Kudus, Iñaki, Partey and Ayew to give us problems. That clearly wasnt the case. But calling it staged is pure cap
Saludos! fans americanos.
According to Washington Post, "The fourth goal came under unusual circumstances: an indirect free kick in the penalty area after a dangerous play by a Ghanaian defender. Balogun touched the ball to Pulisic, who left it for Reyna. With a tangle of players before him, Reyna drove a deflected shot into the top of the net in the 39th minute."
Watched the game. The Ghanaian defender was on the ground after sliding to stop the ball in the box, then saw pressure from the US and reacted by corralling it into his legs and effectively sitting on it while in the box. Sitting on a live ball and preventing the other team from being able to play it is an illegal play; I guess the rule book calls it making a "dangerous" play because US would have to kick through the defender to be able to get to the ball (versus standing to control the ball where any upright player could get to it). This type of foul is not considered severe enough for a direct free kick (which is a penalty in the box), so an indirect free kick in the box was awarded
Seems like everyone explained, but to reiterate, the ref made the proper call to offer a free kick, but indirect. It’s dangerous play when the Ghana defender held the ball in his legs and denied the US a chance to play the ball.
Here’s the best answer I think you can give to explain it: A penalty is given when a foul is committed in the box. For example, a defender kicking an attackers ankles. An indirect free kick (what you saw above) is when the defending team breaks the rules inside the box, but it’s not a foul (like how kicking someone’s ankles is). There are several ways to break the rules in your box, actually, the most common one is for the goalkeeper to pick the ball up from a back pass. That is not allowed. However, the rule broken here is you are not allowed to incite “dangerous play”. The Ghana player incited dangerous play by sitting on the ball, meaning the attacker must literally kick him in order to play the ball. It’s not a penalty, but it’s an indirect free kick.
Gio didn't play well until Gregg benched him. You've obviously never been a coach. The Gio that was playing against Japan and in World Cup absolutely deserved to be benched, to say nothing of the fact that he's still not fit enough to be a full 90 minute player.
@@celebrim1 I know he's not 90 mins fit right now you ignoramus. Gio didn't play that well until Gregg stopped trying to force him to be a winger and force the entire offense to whip in crosses all day. Thanks for saying you're just as delusional and egotistical as Gregg without actually saying it.
@@tonyvilla3 actually he did, but you clearly don't have any idea how much his presence changes the tactics and formation. And he only played 45 because he is not fully fit.
Can’t believe this Ghana team almost beat Portugal if not for the Ronaldo pen and beat South Korea, in the World Cup. What the hell happened to them especially considering most of their players are in laliga and the Premier League.
Anyone that follows international soccer would know Ghana is a shadow of their golden generation from 12 years ago. Ukbekistan is probably the stronger side, but no one in the USA soccer community gave them any respect because they can't find Uzbekistan on the map. I mean they probably can't find Ghana on the map either, but at least they know of them.
Ghana has team management problems and unsettled issues….it’s not the usual ghana team. Well done US. But play again with a better team for better assessment of your team. 👋😊
We're OK. I feel we are a legitimate top 20 team again after like 10 years in the wilderness. But we still have a long ways to go to be a legitimate top 8 team. I just hope the fans are patient with the journey as long as we continue moving in the right direction.
