I just came across this today. I’ll be entering my first competition at age 60 and thank you very much for posting this helpful video! 💪

Can you do a suicide grip on bench press or does the thumb have to be wrapped around the bar
@Trooper33
@Trooper33 3 года назад
4.3.3 The hands may grip the bar with a "thumbs around" grip, “thumb less” grip, or “reverse” grip. They may not grip outside the 81cm mark. Index fingers’ covering the 81 cm ring is allowed. If a lifter must use an offset or unequal grip, whereby one hand is placed outside the marking, it is the lifters responsibility to explain to the head referee and allow inspection of the intended grip prior to making the attempt. The maximum distance between the lifters index fingers using an offset grip may never exceed 81 cm, same as a conventional lifter. P. 28

@@RileyLefcakis thank you I've dont powerlifting in highschool the shaking wasnt an issue but I know when you get out into the Big Boy meets I know that's where rules can be more strict. I appreciate your advice.

Can you roll the bar when deadlifting?

You can roll it to your legs then lift it straight up

Love this info, but there’s no way letting go of a bar at hip hight is “disrespect.” In weight lifting (clean & jerk/snatch) they drop from overhead! That’s not disrespecting either!

This is powerlifting not Olympic lifting…they are different my guy 👊 in powerlifting they use very thin and calibrated metal plates that if dropping could damage the plates or the bar and since the equipment is extremely expensive and you only pay $100 to sign up it is disrespectful to the person who owns the equipment to possibly break their equipment by dropping or throwing the bar down.

@@milehighmuscle1451yes but further more it’s so you do not hurt your spotters. There are not spotters in the Olympic lifts due to its difficulty and impossibility to squat with a high Likelyhood of hurting the spotter if things go wrong. But I’m powerlifting, there will be multiple spotters, even up to 5 spotters for a squat over 600 lbs in USPA meets (I am a USPA referee). If the lifter drops the bar, you are far more likely to hurt the spotters and damage the combo rack and bar when the bar comes crashing down than an Olympic lift being dropped on the ground with bumper plates. Yes it could damage equipment, but damaging people is far worse and not worth it. This is why we ask the lifter to stay with the bar until the bar is re racked for the safety of everyone.

@@olympusathletics8335 he’s talking about deadlifts not squats, there is only one spotter on deadlifts so what you are talking about doesn’t apply to the question he asked. Good info for squat though

@@milehighmuscle1451 whoops, misread the comment. My bad! I had a lifters dump the bar last Saturday at a meet we were running so it was on my brain lol

@@olympusathletics8335 I hate when people do that as well! Definitely extremely dangerous for everyone involved!

Does the same go for IPL with feet placement? Does IPL require flat foot?
