We spent a full day exploring the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier in San Diego, California and this is a fast walk-through of the areas below decks, captured at the very end of the day when it was the quietest.
I also captured the earlier part of this day as a time-lapse in 360° if you want to see more of this ship: • Time-Lapse of a visit ...
"USS Midway (CVB/CVA/CV-41) is an aircraft carrier, formerly of the United States Navy, the lead ship of her class. Commissioned 8 days after the end of World War II, Midway was the largest ship in the world until 1955, as well as the first U.S. aircraft carrier too big to transit the Panama Canal. She operated for 47 years, during which time she saw action in the Vietnam War and served as the Persian Gulf flagship in 1991's Operation Desert Storm. Decommissioned in 1992, she is now a museum ship at the USS Midway Museum, in San Diego, California, and is the only remaining inactive U.S. aircraft carrier that is not an Essex-class aircraft carrier." (Wikipedia)
This video was recorded using a GoPro 10 in 5k @ 60fps for maximum detail!

Thank you for the video. Midway was my home for two years, 1979 to 1981. It was nice to see some of the areas that I remember. I have been back aboard twice, once before it was refurbished and once in 2006. I would love to go back. I served on five ships and Midway was my favorite. Of the five three are now razor blades and one serves in Turkey. Again, thank you.

I'm there 2-3 times a week now training as a Docent. Really love this amazing historically significant ship. Best part is I get to hang with all the amazing veterans of this ship...and others including aviators. I have a classmate that was a Top Gun aviator and flew f-14 Tomcats. As you walked through I was naming all the spaces - good practice for me - thanks.

It’s also crazy to think that, if this ship was thrown into a dry dock for a few months, it could be out defending our country again, and it STILL would be a better carrier than most countries have today (cough cough admiral kiznetsov lmao😂👍)

It’s sad to think that all the other Essex class ships that looked identical (mostly) to this ship are either now refrigerators and pop cans, or at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean 😢 I know it’s a blessing that we managed to save 5 of them, and I also know we can’t save every single warship, 1, because our coastlines would be chalked full of unused ships, to the point of being unusable, and 2, because even if we did manage to save all warships with some sort of prestige due to battles won, we wouldn’t have enough money to keep them all in museum condition .. they’d all just rot away slowly, like us Texas did before she got 100,000,000 dollars worth of reconditioning It’s just a shame that we throw these hulks away like they’re nothing.. uss nevada is a prime example of a ship that damn well should have been preserved.. she went through hell during the pearl harbour attack.. hundreds of sailors died in her hull, and she was literally raised from her grave, like a mid 20th century Lazarus, repaired and pressed back into service to show the Japanese that even our ships that were considered destroyed beyond repair are still capable of returning from the dead and killing everything in front of it, like the reaper himself .. yet, at the end of the war, we painted her completely red and dropped a nuke on her head like she meant absolutely nothing (which, to the admiralty was probably true.. all she represented at that point was gunnery target experience).. a ship like that deserved to wear and show off her war medals to the country she served and protected for a few decades 😢😞

As I understand it you are referring to the three dimensional address of each space or compartment I visited, painted on adjacent walls. I assume these were there but I did not know to look for them. Thanks for the pointer I will look for and include these any more videos I do like this one in the future.
