Wait, what? They want to remove 4 lanes (the two upper decks) to add 2 high occupancy lanes? This doesn't make any sense.

This would be awesome, especially if the university would be willing to pay for it. I could see an investment like this paying off for them over time

Why should UT pay for it? The road isn’t for students. It’s for everybody. Taxes should pay for it.

@@AJXOXO-vz1pn I just mean the cap and plaza above the highway, not the road. Use it to build amenities for game day visitors or more student housing

The smart thing to do would be to upgrade the existing overpass, adding the new lanes to the existing overpass. That would work and would take less time and spend less money.
