You sum up a lot of truths of Utah life. Many family members grew up and married so early in Utah. Too much pressure for marriage before learning what their career goals. I grew up in CA and lived in Provo for a few years. Know that culture --- appreciate the good while you have it.
How's Provo? I'm actually moving to a suburb north of SLC after completing a grad degree but have lived in SoCal my whole life and have been in Colorado Springs for a couple months now. There aren't many job opportunities in this area (everything good is in Denver but that basically has the same costs as LA).
@@heathercommisso6197 I've drove for 4 years now and it is a breeze, I've never had a issue at all! It's the construction, if you live in Utah you'll just find it the easiest thing ever xD
@@minnie8996 i grew up in NJ...never had a problem...people use turn signals and know who has the right of way. Florida...is TERRIBLE! BUT for different reasons. People here don't use turn signals, cut each other off. Btw..whoever said i wasn't intelligent...i have a masters degree. They also park in handicapped parking without tags or plaques..entitlement??? I have a physical disability and it drives me NUTS! UTAH...is rated worst for drivers..COMMON KNOWLEDGE
@@heathercommisso6197 I honestly dont get why it's hard to drive in Utah, I do get that in some area's its is hard to drive in. And I haven't seen anyone telling you your not intelligent, some people have different opinions on roads. But to me personally driving in Utah is the the best state to drive in. I've switch between California, and New York city for college and family. Let me tell you I'm not coming back ever AGAIN. But love you!! I dont want to get into a arguement lol 💜💜😂
@@minnie8996 funny but obnoxios true story...there are so many..but i went to pick my daughter up from school...and traffic to pick the kids up went back 3 blocks..because a lady literally PARKED HER CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD...walked into the school to get her kids...took 15 minutes..because it was acceptable to PARK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!! I WAS SO MAD I FLIPPED THE BIRD inside my car...she didn't see it though. Unfortunately, the lady behind me saw it and kept apologizing because she thought it was to her because she honked. I had to smile and say..no hon...i was quietly venting at the crazy woman who parked IN THE ROAD. I have many friends here....lds and non. I get along well with people..and there are jerks EVERYWHERE! BUT...the jerks here...all have the SAME ENTITLED OBLIVIOUS SELF CENTERED PERSONALITY. I THINK some are just so mentally burnt out from stress they are oblivious..but many are VERY ENTITLED! I love most people...but can't stand the self righteous patriarchy. I actually got nicely kicked out of my apartment after a very invasive surgery...because I left the church when i realized it wasn't what i was told it was.
1) I had 3 mission companions from Utah and two of them were horrible drivers (not sure about the third, because our car was in the shop and we took the bus). 2) I moved to Walla Walla from Northern California and that was a culture shock. I think California's living a different style no matter where you go. Plus I believe Mormons in Utah live a culture while the rest of us live a religion. I tell people I like living the minority where someone's not labeled Mormon or Not Mormon. 3) as someone who wears garments, clothes are hard to find.
After many many years of living overseas I went to Utah in Oct. I can not agree to anything negative considering my experience. WOW! I was SO impressed with American exceptionalizm and SO upset with the American Haters tearing the true near Utopian society down. Go live in the Phil, Thailand and Indonesia for 20 plus years honey then judge. 3rd World NEVER changes and grows.
That was entertaining. BTW, I live in Long Beach. And for some strange reason I decided to search videos about Utah and came across yours. Nice one. And thanks for the info. I'm Asian, and probably won't fit in Utah, lol. But I might visit for a weekend just to check it out. Good luck to you :-)
You mentioned the price of your apartment. Where do you live - Salt Lake, South Jordan...? I may be moving soon and a three bedroom apartment at the price point you mentioned would be ideal. Thank you.
first off I do agree that the traffic sucks yes that's way I don't drive as because people hear are crazy but California is no better to drive in then Utah sec we tell people not Mormon that's because people stereotype us before even coming hear and just assume u are Mormon just because u live hear your whole life we like people to know we are not that way and they don't have to worry and be there self's around us third the not all girls who live in Utah are young and married and have five kids I do agree 23 is to young to get married and have a baby only the Mormon girls are like that and that's only because they are raised that way and really want to lose there v card if they have not lost it by 23 they think they are getting old and it will never happen witch dose make some very desperate girls but not all girls who live in Utah are this way good thing about hear ski and snowboarding hiking camping good jobs and also lots of transportation it's beautiful we have lots of land marks that u will have to see there are lake it's almost like being at the beach it I do love California but would never live there because it's way to expensive but it's a nice place to visit but the longer you stay here the more you'll like it it's not a bad place to live it's very safe good jobs and low income housing the only thing that sucks when u get hear u never want to leave but living home for the first time to move to the south hopefully I will like it there but Utah it's my home I live it hear and there no more beautiful place to be
Trucks have to go 60... they might pass you on the freeway, but they're not supposed to. My dad is a truck driver and they're supposed to go 60. The speed limits are not posted, but they are all trained to go 60.
I have lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Utah; and I love these places for different reasons. I love Utah because of the beauty that surrounds me wherever I choose to go. I love Utah because of the positive vibes I feel wherever I go. I love Utah because of its family atmosphere. I love Utah because I feel more encouraged to learn about other cultures. I love Utah because of the charity I see on a daily basis; people serving and being kind to each other. I love that I can get in the car, drive for 30 minutes; and have completely different surroundings. I love that everyone is so friendly. I love that I feel respected for who I am as an individual by people of all ages and genders. I love that I feel encouraged to go out in the world and do something every day. I love Utah patriotism. If I could change 1 thing about Utah, it would be diversity. I wish we had more people of different races, cultures, sexualities, upbringings, and ethnicities. Utah was founded by people who were escaping persecution and violence against their beliefs. As a Mormon myself, I would say that Utah is a safe place because it is where my ancestors took refuge from those who wished them harm. I can't say we have an understanding level of those of Jewish descent, because our persecution hasn't been nearly on that level. But we understand and are very loving, not just those of the LDS faith, but Utah as a whole. In fact, the man who established the LDS church, that led to Utah being settled has probably said one of the most inspiring things I've ever read: "If we would secure and cultivate the love of others, we must love others, even our enemies as well as friends. . . . I possess the principle of love. All I can offer the world is a good heart and a good hand. The Saints can testify whether I am willing to lay down my life for my brethren. If it has been demonstrated that I have been willing to die for a "Mormon", I am bold to declare before Heaven that I am just as ready to die in defending the rights of a Presbyterian, a Baptist, or a good man of any other denomination. . . . It is a love of liberty which inspires my soul." I think that's something that I, and many other Utahns would live by.
Perception is so different for those who don't drive who walk and use public transit. It's the best place if you fit in and thriving... Not great for many newcomers who didn't come in specifically for a decent job like Goldman Sacs people and many others. America is dramatically changing leaving many transient unmarried wondering where is a great place to live, work, and play. Really no where in this country if you're not already some place since housing is very expensive, wages very low, and competition very high with so much mean spirited narcissism, division, cliques, and hate. It's not what you know, but who you know...
Psalm 27:2 Exactly. I have no problem with other creeds of people but Utah being racially homogeneous is one of the reasons it's such a tight knit and peaceful place. Germany and Sweden used to have the lowest crime rates in the world but have experienced a huge influx of crime as a result of "diversity." Lastly, here's a pro tip for everyone: diversity is code word for less white people. Again, I hold no I'll will towards other creeds but some cultures aren't compatible, even if they're from the same race. the only thing an Irish man has in common with a Russian is drinking, outside of that the cultures are very different and deserve their own place with their own people to ensure a happy place for the next generation of said people.
Im from SoCal and I was looking for legitimate advice for my family to live in a different climate, instead I ended up wasting four minutes of my life that I can no longer get back. You make us Californians look bad.
I was really considering moving to Salt Lake City, but after you talked about that dress code thing, I got really turned off, that just sounds a little too crazy for me....I am an Austrian and I am living in California right now and just hate the hot weather and no real winter thing, its also to crowded, just way too many people and also too many people on drugs and to much traffic everywhere and I could not care less about the beach......I even get slightly depressed in the summer and really want to get out of here so I was hoping to find another much cooler and much greener state with snow mountains, I LOVE the COLD!!........Salt Lake City is so very beautiful, but I am a free thinker aka 100% non Religious, so I do worry about the religious freaks out there, so that part might actually stop me now from considering moving there...
This RU-vidr hasn't a clue. There is no 'dress code' in Utah. I am a rationalist and a local. Lots of people are religious (LDS), but I don't view that negatively. I personally enjoy being surrounded by those with opposing opinions. Who wants to live in an echo chamber anyways?? Don't believe the negativity. Utah is fantastic!
White Kita this girl was a fucking idiot Utahns are actually really nice and there is no dress code like if there is ever a festival down town girls are always walking around in pasties
Cari SoVery idk where you work but my boss is lds and the only dress code I have is business casual (no tank tops and short shorts) which you're going to get in any state. I've never had a lds member be mean to me just for the fact that I wasn't lds
Its NOT green here! If you like mountains AND green...I Would move to Pennsylvania, Virginia etc. I live literally 3 blocks from mountains...surrounded by mountains. Its May..and SNOWING!!! AND...the mountains are dry red rocks!! Its pretty for a little while..but I Would do almost ANYTHING to move to Pennsylvania...but you don't make enough money to move...a TRAP!! THIS IS A WELFARE STATE! I have a beautiful blonde elementary school daughter...and if one more polygamist male hits on her.....I'm going to EXPLODE!!!!
They'll run you over such as when walking through intersections. You know you'll never be a Utahn when you can't fathom why this nonsense goes on and on every day where you can't hardly take a single walk without left turners bullying as you crosswalk after you've waited for your light. I find it hateful, hostile, disrespectful, and very dangerous. What about old people and those who can't take evasive action to suddenly run or speed walk out of the path of a greedy selfish motorist? Just swept under the carpet as a minor incident and police report no one ever knows about?
You're cute XD I'm also from SoCal and thinking of checking out Utah for the low living costs and job opportunities. Our state really needs some policy changes if I ever move back (currrently in CO so it shouldn't be too different in UT).
And...the reported crime rates..are fake. They only have to report murders. My best friend...a college student...was stabbed repeatedly here...for NO REASON!!
@@heathercommisso6197 there's some tech companies in UT where I'm starting at around 15/hr with benefits which isn't too bad considering the cost of living. Sure the same job would pay 20/hr in CA but rent would gobble up over half a monthly salary there. Not saying everyone can get lucky a find a decent paying job but they are there...
@@heathercommisso6197 Yeah I've seen so many homeless camps in UT, so no doubt that some contain crazed addicts particularly SLC, WVC, and Bountiful but outside those areas seem pretty safe. Which area did your friend get attacked?
Hi Cami. Good stuff, your video made me laugh. I have a question for you and I hope you answer because I really want to understand it better. Why.......do you live in a place that you don't like so much? I live in a place that I don't like and I AM MOVING and sooooo glad to be moving :)
I'm from here and Honestly moving to Nebraska. Houses are 1/3 the price of Utah and the people are actually hospitable. But the number one reason why I'm leaving Utah to Nebraska is so I can GET AWAY FROM ALL YOU STUPID CALIFORNIANS THAT ARE RUSHING HERE LIKE THE PLAUGE!
Tall Glass of Cami, as a Californian your first mistake was to mention you are from Californian. You, gotta keep that under wraps. You should have picked another city to originate from, like Des Moines, something nondescript. Yeah, I myself do miss the rainbow also, there are a lot of white people here. Just watch a Jazz game on T.V. and look at the audience.
So I added her on Snapchat and said hi. Next thing I know I'm block. All I wanted to know what are nice cities to move to in utah because I want to move there.
Lmao at all the older conservative Utah people getting offended at this when it really isn't even offensive. I live in California and spend a lot of time in Utah and I've found literally everything she's said to be accurate. And yes, the drivers in Utah are worse. Might have something to do with the fact their test is open book, unlike California.
Rofl go drive around ANYWHERE in Jersey, NY, Orlando, Philly. Hell any EC major city. Utah is a dream compared. People will actually cut you off then shoot at ya in Philly.
Utah is like the easiest state to drive in bro! And I've been driving for 4 YEARS! You guys just need to stay in your own country if you dont like it 💖
@Rulya Mórrigan Ard Mhacha lol like everyone that are not from Utah for some reason complain about the driving...um younger than nost if my friends and I've never been in a crash not got a ticket for 4 years. C'mon I live in Eagle Mountain and have to drive past SLC and Provo to go to school..plus right now it's just the construction that's holding people to traffic NOT the drivers. But Utah is literally the best state I've ever been to in America xD
Alaska drivers are worse than Utah drivers. I kid you not the roads up here are ice in the winter you'll have some guy doing 80 in a 35. And forget about stop light and go through stop light when it's red green yellow doesn't matter you got to wash your butt here. A lot of cars here have damaged a lot for the number of people that are here it's too much damage done two cars .
lived in California my whole life 30years. I ride a motorcycle so what you said about the driving scares me. but I'm looking forward to the pretty blonde Mormon lady's though lol. st George will be a nice change of pass for me.
You had better know the "4R's of Success",Race, white people.Religion, mormon.Republican, only one political party.Relitives, better be related to someone. With out the "4R's of Success" you are NOTHING!
Utah Drivers Suck!! I've lived here all my life and have been driving for 30 years. The worst part is; Utah Highway Patrol cops are just as bad!! They don't enforce the driving laws well enough to get Utah drivers to drive more safely. It's very frustrating for the safer drivers out there. One big thing I never understood is why the hell did they increase the speed limit on the freeways in this state if Utah drivers are so unsafe?? The majority of my time on the road is calling everyone a UTARD. OK aside from all the bad stuff. Here are some things that you pointed out on your video that I should reiterate. As far as the diversity goes in Utah. It all depends on where you are. The metro areas from Ogden to Provo the majority of the state population resides is mostly white. However, in certain areas of Salt Lake County for example; Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, Indian (Asia), live on the west side of the valley. Rose Park, West Valley, South Salt Lake, North Salt Lake and Downtown Salt Lake. The majority of the white, asian live on the east side of the valley.
Actually...tinder here..is used by the cops for drug informants to snag. Its a tool for DL drug deals. I work on the government side....not drug side...but thats how i know.
@Jim Caponzi no. Mormon girls stay pure...not used up chewing gum...however..non lds have limited resources for dating...unless they go to bars and coffee shops. For a single non lds woman to go on tinder..there are many single mormon men who are looking for tail..not a relationship..because they only marry other members...99% of the time. The women are NOT the hussies...they are DUPED!!
Actually Utah isn't bad at all, and I've lived here for like 20 years now! People like her who don't live in Utah and are acting like her...uh you might want to be in Utah to actually know that Utah is to me the best country. But it's very beautiful there
