ikr, they also probably don't realize that it's trying to speak another language so they just hear a bunch of weird sounds with symbols on the screen but they're subtitles for what the machine was trying to say.
So basically, this guy's college roommate caught him with a 🔦 in freshman year and he created an entire ai and robot to fortify a lie. Well done sir, well done.
“Faking something to such a grand scale for the sake of clearing your shame is a great length that most won’t bother or just give up the hiding. The ones that pull it off and fool the rest is quite impressive.
I really thought this was something else when i first saw it. But when i wondered why the hell am i seeing this here?! I saw that it talks. Why would you.... oh... oh ok i get it now. So it's not that. Supposedly.
When you have the time to research random stuff and this stuff comes up. A machine that looks disturbingly erotic and makes noises you will only hear in bed.
I saw another video of him training it, and for some reason watching a Japanese man repeat "ma mi mu me mo" to a robot and get "ma muhmuhamuhmuu" back over and over is extremely funny.
He cries, knowing that he should not exist in this world. He screams for death, the world does not want him, he is the black sheep in this world of flesh and muscle. He cries for death
I don't know why but something about this makes me so deeply unsettled. I can't stop watching but it hits right in the uncanny valley for me. It reminds me of that one Magnus Archives episode.
I'm thinking that the strain from talking in a different language or accent comes from using muscles that you don't normally use. This project illustrates how much goes into the sound of a voice.
It's really interesting to me that the way we speak is being immitated by a robot that was designed to do that, helps understand the way we speak and make the sounds we do
I mean, they can't be cleaned, since their material disintegrates in water. They usually live under a bed, with only one purpose for leaving. I'd scream too.
0:35 I was waiting for the demonstration...now I don't know whether to piss myself laughing or run away screaming. But then that series of shorter sounds - "UUH, EEUWW, EUUWWWEEHHH, UUIHH, UUWWAAHH" ...ROFL XD HOLY CRAP they gave it a microphone to sing in THIS IS KILLING ME.
I know, I was joking too. The thing was not aimed to get recorded, it is extremely "unvideogenic". I got the same reaction as yours (maybe a bit more moderate). Then thought it was funny to imagine the guy who spent 10 years on the thing, finally come out from his shelter to proudly show it to the world, and the first feedback he gets is your comment (or the ones about blow jobs - by the way I don't get it, really, how can someone get excited on this horror? ...and the comments got likes! I wonder how many freaks subscribed to DigInfo TV!?)
boumbh Interested in hearing it with teeth. Imagine all the uses! Answer the phone, read and speak for blind people, sooth babies by singing.. I can think of a million other things.
zincink Voice synthesizers does not need an actual mouth... All you said, a smartphone can do... Is there an application for this device? I guess it can help understanding the way humans generate their voice, and help people with voice disorders.
Scientist: "I've made the greatest invention in human history!" Other scientist: " wow, is that a voice simulator?" Scientist: *zipping up his pants* "yea, thats what it is."
Vocaloid 1: I'm one of the first commercial speech synthesizer! Vocaloid 2: now I'm anime! Vocaloid 3: more lifelike than ever! Vocaloid 4: *_I CAN SUCK YA DICK_*
Truly amazing work. I did intensive research on human speech synthesis back in the 80s and I know how complex this subject is for engineers. Todays advanced electronics make it easier for engineers to design fixtures that mimic the real voice of human.
And it will end up being used as a cum dumpster. After all, we have robotic sex dolls so only makes sense. Technology and human ingenuity is awesome ya.
I need one for at home and then teach him thinks like fuck off if someone I don't like visits me. Just imagine coming into someones home and theres this thing just standing there singing
This might look and sound really funny, but actually, they're starting to do this for the future. We'll be able to appreciate it when human robots already exists.
Eventually someone is going to take all these bits and pieces engineers are inventing and put them together. It will be terrifying. With luck, it’ll actually work too.
