Today we are taking a look at another of the stalwarts of the Modern Format, UW Control. While it has been supplanted by 4 Color Omnath Variants have surpassed it as the best control deck in the format, its still very good in a meta where you can target specific decks.

Summary Dismissal helps with Eldrazi Titans, but it's also good against Valakut (Scapeshift or Cultivator Colossus). It also can help against uncounterable threats (like creatures cast off of Cavern of Souls). It's an awkward addition, but probably a card you are happy to have when you really need it.

If UW control ever manages to claw it's way outta tier 2 status, papa WotC just bans whatever cards that allowed it to do so, because the reddit man-babies can't handle a fair U control deck being good (MYSTIC SANCTUARY!!!!)

Isn’t summery dismissal mainly against storm, or is that not a thing anymore?

mostly good against amulet titan who have cavern and against tron that has ullamog and emrakul 13 triggers

Storm only very rarely shows up anymore.

UW is kinda good across the board when not facing 4c Control, and I think there is no reason not to play 4c control if you want to play a control strategy in modern. Its sad because i love UW as an archetype but man the value 4c generates is insane, they basically need to brick hard or you will loose the game everytime.

I think its fine if one matchup is your only true dog situation. In a format like Modern there are very few decks in history that can not have a bad matchup period. They usually get banned.
