Tashkent, capital city of Uzbekistan, is often overlooked in favour of the Silk Road cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva; but watch this video to find out why this is a mistake.
Tashkent is the BEST place in Uzbekistan to get an urban flavour of the country, experience life as a local, understand its linguistic connections to Turkey, and meet the local people who are some of the friendliest in the world.
So, is Tashkent cheap? Can I really become a millionaire? How safe is it really? What is the weather like? What are the best months to visit?
For answers to all these questions and more, dive into this episode and let me know in the comments what you think! 😉
😉😎

@@ToyyinnAuslander Bro, I am from Uzbekistan, but haven't been there since 2014. Even your accent sounds British. @@fadialdajjani9314, there have been a LOT of changes in your country since 2014! I visited the first time in 2016, when I returned last August, parts of Tashkent were unrecognisable. Regarding my style, I did promise myself when I started that honesty would be a guiding principle and good and bad are two sides of the same coin. Sometimes, my perspectives might inspire, at others, they might offend, but as long as they have integrity, I'm fine with that. So, should I pitch my channel to the BBC? 😂 But, seriously, thanks again and as you said, may my channel be blessed. 🙏🏾

why call it a stan country? it sounds derogatory to me personally as an Uzbek. There are several countries in Europe and other continents which share the same ending "-land" in their names, such as England, Scotland, Poland, Finland, Iceland, Switzerland, Thailand and some more, but nobody calls them "Land countries", or one of the Lands. Generalizing countries is not really ok
@ToyyinnAuslander
@ToyyinnAuslander 2 года назад
Thanks for your perspective, let me explain: When we refer to 'Stan' countries, we are not categorising necessarily on the basis of a name; rather, we are doing so on a unique set of attributes common to the countries of Central Asia. The 'Stan' countries is a convenient moniker for that unique region which straddles the old Silk Road and is composed of a continuous Perso-Turkic ethnicity that is geographically disparate from the old Ottoman Empire. Their culture, history, and languages form a unique monolith...of sorts. Certainly, generalising countries with malice is not okay, but there are lots of categorisations like this in various parts of the world (the Low countries, the Andeans, the Balkans, et cetera) that derive from names, geographical similarities, and other shared attributes and have no negative connotation. There is no intent to demean or reduce. 😉

Hmmmn, I'd definitely say that there is a lot more to Tashkent than politics. In fact of the several times I have been, none of my encounters had any kind of political vibe and I think Tashkent is waaaaaaaaaay more than being an interesting and dynamic place just because the president lives there. 🤷🏾‍♂️
