Uzupis, in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, is the smallest republic in the world. Everything's different in this republic of artists. Article 16 of the Uzupian constitution even guarantees everyone the right to happiness. And for those who find they don't like being happy, Article 17 provides them with the right to unhappiness. I live in vilnius and i come here after school on fridays to hang out, really a great place. But the soviet buildings ruin it a little :(

In most countries, there are probably no issues if you call your own house a republic or kingdom. The problems instantly appear, however, when you declare this "smallest country" in your tax return. Then it turns out you don't even have a square inch of independent territory.

rabit818 no. Never was or will be before rest of lithuania legalises. And btw uzupis is dying because wealthy people are moving there, artists no longer can afford to live there as it used to be
