V/H/S 99 (2022) FIRST TIME WATCHING!! MOVIE REACTION!! 

Was looking forward to your reaction to this. The game show one is very divisive. Either you love it or you hate it. But Steve Ogg tried his best and he gave a great performance. I liked the ghost rock band one. That song is super catchy hahaha Hope you feel better soon!

A great way I heard someone describe this set of films is all of them deal with how far someone is willing to go to get what they want

Honestly I thought this movie was great. That last segment was absolutely the best one. Also Mabel didn't turn on them, she just reminded them (very loudly) to hold up their end of the bargain, and they did. Honestly, for as dark as the last one was, it was surprisingly wholesome and Mabel was a real one. Best character in the entire thing. They made it to hell and back, had their freindship tested, made up, became bros, and even kept their promise to Mabel, who really helped them too. For a segment with demons, gore, cults, hell, and lots of murder, it still kinda had the power of friendship and all that other wholesome crap like some kinda anime. I really dug the juxtaposition.

Suicide Bid and To Hell and Back were the best segments for me in this film

Aw man I just watched this movie today myself and Rob posted a reaction to it? Doooooope. I honestly thought this movie was pretty good, a few parts were a liiiiiiiiittle too goofy for me and the cgi in a few shorts was absolutely awful but overall, I enjoyed the vibe of the movie and the stories they showed were pretty dope. They also nailed the Y2K aesthetic, that weird time period where everyone was clinging onto the 90s before the early 2000s really kicked off, man that was a time unlike any other lmao. Loved the vid Rob, hope you feel better soon!

ROB is back! :D I will leave you "my testament" regarding this movie... Then I will comment again when I have seen the video xD Although the VHS franchise is seen as a whole, it must be remembered that vhs 94 and vhs 99 are outside the universe that the initial trilogy proposed. It is a reboot ... The first 3 had this intriguing common thread where it wasn't known which group or entity made people go crazy to the point of taking such a magnitude, that later, adopting the digital form, it goes viral ... That uncertainty and the disturbing short films gave that atmosphere that was the success to the franchise... (the big mistake of the 3rd movie is to have reflected the beginning of the 2000s with inconspicuous stories and clichés) Without a doubt, VHS 94 was a success, but it self-devoured in the same movie...the common thread was interesting, the short films once again had that audacity by telling solid and dark stories...but in the end they reveal to you in the same movie who had caused all that chaos... Leave me with the intrigue, don't tell me that within the police there was a group of women who were fond of Snuff cinema... I want to keep those questions in my head... This is how you generate the mystery that VHS 1 achieved. And with respect to VHS 99, this one has a much more "teen tone". For those of us who lived in the 90s, nostalgia plays an important role. But there is no striking story as a common thread for the other stories shown in the short films. Are we entertaining? totally, but it doesn't frighten me, it doesn't shock me... it has its good moments with Ozzy's Dungeon and "To hell an back" It lives up to old series like "So Weird" "Are you afraid of the dark?" and "Goosebumps" that they had on FoxKid/Jetix. I ended by saying that the part that gave me the most sympathy was seeing again the directors and actors of "DeadStream" and the charismatic character of Mabel, I think it is the only story that left that little door open for a sequel, if they dare .Although also with the already announced VHS 85 many of the doubts that I raise in this comment may be resolved, which I doubt since VHS99 never raised these questions.

This one felt very Tales From the Crypt, a lot more dark comedy than usual from this series. I'm kinda mad that the behind the TV jumpscare in the last segment actually got me though, usually that never happens.

despite some dodgy cgi i enjoyed the first two & the final segment, I wasn't really feeling the other two personally. Thanks for reacting to this for us, and i hope you feel better soon!

The gorgon segment I think is a commentary on 90s comedy movies like American pie which seemed to normalise creepy behaviour for men when it came to interacting with women. The gorgon represents a woman taking back power in that situation and literally weaponisng the male gaze on her.

I missed the premiere, but I did get to watch your reaction while eating my macaroni and cheese with buffalo chicken, so that was even better. I wont recommend viral this time, but I will recommend Siren, which is a spin off movie from the first VHS

Totally didn't realize you had reacted to this one and I got really excited when I found this vid, I think 99 was corny, but that doesn't mean i think it was bad! It was just more Horror Comedy than all the last V/H/S movies. I loved the first segment's concept, and the rest of them were alright too!! I'm glad I watched it and I'm glad you enjoyed it too

But in segment 4, the monster is clearly inspired by the ancient Greek myth of the Gorgo Medusa, who has there were snakes instead of hair and who turned her enemies to stone with a look into her eyes. According to legend, she was killed by the hero Perseus.

Woah I thought they stopped at vhs 94. This is new to me!

You liked this a bit more than me. Aside from Viral, this is probably my least favorite V/H/S film. The stories all have seeds of good ideas in them, but only one of the bits works for me. A huge step down from '94. *Shredding:* Too predictable and they don't really do much with the concept. *Suicide Bid:* Once again, way too predictable. You called it instantly in your reaction. The film just yadda-yadda-yaddas its way at the end, with a hard cut to the Sorority girls in coffins. The whole thing fell flat and never felt authentic. *Ozzy's Dungeon:* Lots of concepts on display here, maybe too many. The TV show bit makes an effort, but just doesn't capture the look and feel of those Nickelodeon game shows. And then that twist into torture porn was jarring and hard to believe. It ended strong, but that's after shifting tones fifteen times. *The Gawkers:* Why are all of these stories so simple? It's like they come up with a very rudimentary concept and then just fail to flesh it out. I hate everybody in this short. *To Hell And Back:* Easily the movie's highlight. This probably could have gone crazier and more over-the-top, but it mostly works. This segment helps to save what was a fairly pedestrian film.

This may help explain some things including the wird translations. On the audio commentary for the movie they explain its basically all on the same tape. So the wrap around story with the plastic army men at the beginning is the start of the tape. Then the 4th story is apart of the wrap around story basically the younger brother was. Doing the filming with the plastic army men then the older brother took the camera then the 4th story began. That's why the stuff with the plastic army men jumped around. Because parts whore recorded over for the other story's. That's why after the 5th story it goes back to the 4th story an you see the camera battery die. Because it's one tape that somehow got to all those other people no explanation given about that. But story's 1,2,3 an 5 recorded over the original footage on the tape. That's all I will say because other then that it's basically your standard stuff. I personally like this one more out of all the official V/H/S movies. Because I still count the one you help make as part of them. Because it fits in with the others perfectly. But out of the official ones I like this one more because only two innocent people where involved. The one died in the 2nd story because she just wanted to join their College sorority. Then the girl got hurt in the 3rd story but every one else had it coming. Even the ones parents in the 3rd story because they whore just using their daughter. To try to get money an a new car they didn't care about her at all. Because when it came time for here to make her wish. Her mother said remember to wish for X amount of money an a new car. Whare as loving parents would say something like now here's are chanes to fix your leg an make it as good as new. But the parents only cared about the money an the new car. So everyone mines the one collage student an the ones daughter with the messed-up leg. They all got what was coming to them unlike the other official V/H/S movies where innocent people were harmed or killed. What can I say I like seeing people get what they deserve. Like the saying goes if you play stupid games you win stupid prizes. Along if you are a ahole carma is going to kick your back side.

Man also hated when i poor characters is in a coffin because you know things gonna be bad second and glad those girls who put that poor girl in a coffin got what's was coming to them. 😡 I was surprised, Medusa was in this. 😐.

Ozzy's Dungeon and To Hell and Back were the highlights of V/H/S 99. The rest were meh. The Coffin one at least tries and it's better than The Craft 2! If V/H/S 94 was the Final Destination 3 of the series, then V/H/S 99 is the Final Destination 4 of the series. Here's hoping V/H/S 85 is the Final Destination 5 of the series.

Only seen this the other day, didn't feel this one,maybe cause wasn't in the right mood,thought the weakest out the whole series.

Oh no this is the worst in the franchise imo, even worse than Viral.

This is the weakest of the VHS films. I think only the final one was really worth watching.
