I've got one, no, two Bugeras. They are truly excellent amps. And I think they are beautifully designed. Industrial design at its best. I can't think of an amp that looks as good as the Bugera.

Well, actually Matchless Chieftain CH-212 looks identical to Bugera V22 and you'd save yourself a few grand without compromising the sound.

I play with a rotation of 7 different guitarists, and 4 of them use this amp (or maybe the V55, not sure). Either way, that definitely says something for the versatility and quality of Bugera!

Can anyone tell me if the power supply on this amp is 110volts or 220volts? I'm asking this because I live in Brazil and I'm going to buy it in the US. Thanks everyone :)
@behringer
@behringer 8 лет назад
The V22 INFINIUM Amps are able to run on 110V or 220V, depending on the fuse you have set in the compartment near the IEC receptacle. After switching out the fuse with the correct value for 220V operation (630mA) and using a 220V IEC Cable you should able to use the V22 INFINIUM with standard 220V outlets.

johno doh It's ok. I can. They don't sound the same on clean channel, OD channel, has less difference. Different circuits. I own a V55HD and I used to own a V5. They did NOT sound the same, as smaller/bigger versions of the same amp. Definitely voiced differently.

As a guitar player, I can be expected to have a certain level of technical knowledge/ability - and when something needs to happen that exceeds that, I make a trip into the shop. For example, I used to take my guitars in to be set up... but once I had the correct tools and knowledge (truss rod adjustment, action modification, mechanical tuner) I can do those myself. These auto-biasing tube amps aren't needed. In most cases they create more problems than they solve. What's wrong with using a bias probe and making adjustments, when needed. Does that seem complicated to anyone?
@Scoaster86
@Scoaster86 4 года назад
I agree that a certain level of technical abilities come in handy from time to time as a guitar player, but I wouldn't call it a necessity. After all, there always are professionals who could do the job for you. When it comes to things like a set up for your guitar there aren't many dangers and in my opinion pretty much everyone should give it a go first before taking it to the shop everytime, but in case of biasing a tube amp I would strongly reccomend against trying it yourself, at least if you have no idea what you're actually doing. Some amps don't really have obvious probe points or ones that are quite difficult to reach and in most cases you have to work with an entirely exposed circuitboard in order to do so. Without a healthy amount of knowledge and experience with stuff like this, it can be very dangerous to temper with the inner workings of a tube amp since there are capacitors on the inside, which can hold a deadly amount of charge, even when the amp is unplugged. Touch the wrong thing and your own amplifier might kill you. When you try to set up your guitar, the worst thing that could happen is that you screw it up a little and need a professional to get it right again. When you try to bias your tube amp yourself, the worst that could happen is you being killed, so auto-biasing tube amps might have a reason to exist. Beside it being much easier and faster which could be a big help if a tube decides to die 15 minutes before a gig.
@juanvaldez5422
@juanvaldez5422 4 года назад
Jason Perry why is self biasing bad? How does it cause probs? Honest question
@PerryCodes
@PerryCodes 4 года назад
@@juanvaldez5422 I'm not going to be the best guy to give you a technical description, but it comes down to the fact that "auto-biasing" is not an automatic version of amps that require actual biasing when switching tubes. It's a marketing name for cathode-biasing. Many folks will tell you that tone suffers and in some cases when switching tubes you might still need to verify the biasing and change the value of a resistor if the measurement is too far out. You should Google fixed vs cathode biasing for a better explanation.
@Phoenix_cataclysm_in_2040
@Phoenix_cataclysm_in_2040 2 года назад
@@PerryCodes I think you've created a problem where was none. Telling people to smarten up and do autobiasing themselves invites moral responsibility if something goes wrong (electric shock and perhaps death), and for what? So you can save a few quid by not going to a proper amp specialist? I've replaced all valves on my Bugera V22, it done whatever job it meant to do with its autobiasing system and it sounds as it ought to - great. Just give it a thought that there were smart people who created these amps, and who knew exactly what they were doing at a fraction of price of such lookalikes as Matchless and Bad Cat etc. Makes you think what those makers charge people massive money for as I haven't noticed better quality sound coming out of those amps.
@PerryCodes
@PerryCodes 2 года назад
@@Phoenix_cataclysm_in_2040 If you can’t follow simple safety instructions on draining a cap and using a probe, then I guess you fall into the group that finds that “too complicated.” Personally, I find it mind-numbingly simple. Does that make me smarter than you? Probably not, but yes... I will have a few more “quid” in my pocket at the end of the day.

Easy, pick up a vintage tube organ from your local facebook marketplace or craigslist for free or 10 bucks, pull out the pushpull dual 6v6 amp with 12ax7 preamp section, change a couple of values, maybe install a bias adjustment circuit to make it grid-biased for more wattage, find an old 12 inch speaker cabinet for 70 bucks, get a weber or some speaker that you want for 120 or so bucks, 10 bucks for some mounting hardware and you got an amp that will smoke this one for same or cheaper, with NOS tubes and parts and will look way cooler.
