As a parent of a child diagnosed as autistic/ASD I have to admit that I was very triggered, as "Why are they NOT mentioning Wakefield's conflict of interests and poor ethics!?" And then Part 2... Thank you. Also: big red flag when a researcher is disappointed with their findings. I'm not talking about mistakes or poor procedures, records or observations. I mean when everything is done properly, but the results aren't "what they wanted". That's just bad science.

The lawyers did not pay for this study. They first contacted him when the study was under way or afterward and Wakefield was only paid for expert testimony at trial which Lancet’s guidelines did not say should be disclosed as a conflict. Wakefield later reported this payment on his own. He was not “outed.”

1 in every 50 Children have Autism - they have special classes in Schools for them now and I feel it could be getting worse if Parents don't Protect their Children and really make decisions not what the doctor say or the Gov but what their intuition guides them.
@clickslefttoe
@clickslefttoe Год назад
If your intuition is rubbing cow shit on your 5 month old and throwing them in front of a car, should you? No obviously. You don't use intuition to see what's wrong with your car, you go to a mechanic. You don't use intuition to fix a broken power line, you get the power company to fix it. And, yet again, you don't use intuition to treat cancer, you let a specialist treat it. Intuition and skepticism can be useful when it is combined with objective fact.

@@clickslefttoe if you have car knowledge then your car intuition may be very good compared to some of those mechanics. This is all relative. The 10 authors did NOT retract the study. They retracted the “interpretation that was placed on it” that there was or might be a link between autism and MMR vaccine- or some wording very close to that. Note the study had explicitly stated (“from the the beginning”) that it did not establish a link between autism and the vaccine and that it could not possibly bc it was not designed to do so.

Wakefield was a Prof. of gasteroenterology. Prof. Walker-Smith, a world expert in pediatric gastroenterology performed the procedures. The GMC revoked his license too, but he appealed to a court which reinstated his license and had harsh words for GMC. Wakefield claims he did not have the money for an appeal.

First of all, we need to see who can benefit from it. Large companies that produce vaccines and bureaucracies that coordinate the distribution and management of vaccines. These people don't care about the health of children at all, even if they know that vaccines can cause autism, in order to make money or keep their place. These toxic things will definitely be injected into newborn children. One key point is that the incidence of autism is constantly increasing, and one day it will become too high for people to bear.
@markstuckey6639
@markstuckey6639 3 года назад
But you can say the same about Mr. Wakefield who has become very rich and has received the adulation of many desperate mothers. Most of the people who work in the vaccination industry earn nowhere near the amount Mr. Wakefield does (and they have to work for it). Also the universities and others who did the research into MMR safety subsequent to Mr. Wakefield's had nothing to gain by finding a correlation or not. The incidence of autism reporting has increased year on year (the criteria has also changed) but so has the consumption of tomatoes (about 4% each year); are they a cause? What has increased in line with the rise in autism is the age of initial parenthood, which is a well know factor in development problems of both the foetus and infant. This might sound unsympathetic: it's always easier to blame an external factor than accept there may be some flaw in the self.

There should be a khanacademylogic series with a video on straw-man arguments that points to this video. Very disappointing to use one study as the end all be all. Very disappointing to say over and over other studies have shown no link without even putting references in the description for people to crosscheck and do their own due diligence. Instead of drawing pictures, it'd be vastly more helpful to quote from the studies themselves. Ur students are smarter than that. Only 2 videos discussing this topic that people have been heatedly discussing for decades? U must think people are that dumb. First, what about UCDavis finding that people with autism have immune system issues and gastrointestinal deregulation, thus confirming the finding in the Wakefield paper, a paper which never actually explicitly said the MMR gave the kids autism. U mention conflicts of interest for Wakefield, yet fail to mention how the Jeanne Lenzer's BMJ article detailing how CDC has taken money from industry since 1983. Then you don't mention the whistleblowers like William Thompson and Andrew Zimmerman, the former saying his boss asked him to lie and throw out data showing a link between young black boys with the MMR and autism, the latter saying autism can be caused in rare cases by vaccines. You don't acknowledge how former CDC director Julie Geberding (now President of Merck's vaccine division) has admitted in a CNN interview that stressors like vaccines can cause autism-like symptoms in people with a certain mitochondrial disorder like Hannah Poling. You don't mention how investigative reporter reporter, Sharyl Attkinson, interviewed William Thompson's coworker/boss at the CDC, Frank DeStephano, and how he said vaccines can (rarely) trigger autism, not cause it, just trigger it. Actual difference or just legal wordplay? A proper series would not just talk about vaccines and autism, but vaccines and all severe adverse reactions. It would have a risk benefit analysis clearly showing the risks of severe adverse events (all medical procedures have risks) from actual data sources like the WHO vaccine reaction rates sheets vs the benefits using infection rates and mortality rates. A proper series would have Number Needed to Treat arguments and Number Needed to Harm numbers. A proper channel should have lessons on the history and politics of medicine and videos on Conflicts of Interest, for example, how tobacco science was used to convince people cigarettes weren't harmful. It should have a video on how Merck used fake journals and ghost written articles and had a hitlist for those critical of Vioxx, which killed tens of thousands before it was retracted. What about the BMJ tamiflu controversy, or the Monsanto and cancer controversy, or the Thalidomide and birth defects, or the most recent one with Coca-Cola showing how big business do fund studies but can silence the ones they don't agree with. Your channel has none of these. Keep making people believe medicine knows all.
