I found out recently that this watch doesn’t have anti glare crystal, the date slowly changes over so is not fully legible at times and you can’t adjust the seconds hand. That’s three really bad things for a holy trinity.
Checking in from the future, and the line "Oh yeah, you can actually buy this watch at retail with no wait... for now" sure hits different than it did 3 years ago.
@@ezzabdel-hadi7989Not anymore. Market prices for the blue dial are only a few thousand Euro above retail now. The silver dial is already below retail. Been to the boutique last week and they said that for the blue dial this year is indeed realistic.
Tom Khong it sure does! Look Rolex makes some quality watches, albeit overpriced compared to other high quality watchmakers. But Rolex will never make a watch as high quality as this in their existence.
I have had this watch and the chronograph version on my wrist at the AD several times. I refer to the current Overseas as my all time favorite especially in the blue dial.
I absolutely love the 4500v, it'll be my next watch for sure. Congrats for the video, i'm not exaggerating saying that it's one of the best watch videos i've watched, the quality is outstanding.
Nice video! Design aside (which I think this VC example looks terrific), this iteration of VC Overseas is the most state of the art watch over Patek Nautilus or AP Royal Oak. Able to swap from bracelet to strap with no effort is a big plus and adds more fun / practicality. Size of the movement is proportion to the case size and the gold rotor is a thing of beauty. I think this example from VC will be my next watch. I will be debating blue vs brown dial...
Great review! This watch is beautiful, elegant and really underrated, maybe thats better, more exclusive and under the radar. I think with some AP and PP vulgarity has taken over.
What a fantastic looking watch. It's actually the only one I've ever seen, other than the Cartier Santos, that features a quick change strap system! Very ingenious, I hope more brands start doing this.
Great video. I have owned this watch for over a year now and its versatility and beauty is just stunning in any use situation. Two comments: Indexes and hands are made of white gold. If I had one remark: the seconds hand cannot be stopped when adjusting the time, so its mostly „almost“ precise. But you know what: that‘s ok.
This blue dial is mesmerizing, I have a rare chance to compare blue and black dial side by side, and placed an order for the stainless steel 4500V blue dial instantly, it is the color exclusive to VC boutique, waiting time is longer at 9 months here in Singapore. IMHO, it wears and looks better than Nautilus, Aquanaut and Royal Oak. I heard production quantity is expected to be down by 30 percent in 2021 due to COVID-19 disruptions. Therefore, unlikely can acquire one with walk-in nowadays, considering the limited production run on stainless steel models.
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas is one of the most beautiful watch in the world. I like the Vacheron Constantin transparent case back showing the beautiful gold rotor. I like the VC maltese cross case and beautiful maltese cross bracelet with the quick change bracelet. I like the VC beautiful dial.
So, I bought a VC OS black dial after watching this take....all I'll say is, it's perfect! The best mix of pedigree, detail, and versatility. Not to mention it's damn handsome...thanks to you, I'm officially a watch addict....hooked
Stunning watch - great review - and the last five seconds made me smile :). I’ve been keeping an eye out for this used because I keep hearing about VC depreciation - but I’m not seeing it with this piece assuming most are buying with a discount - not that it’s easy to find used...
This is my grail watch, and this is my favorite video on youtube of this watch! Great quality shots both in sharpness, clarity, and composition. What camera do you use? And Might you make more videos of this watch? Maybe a "day in the life with the Overseas" type video. I could just watch this video on repeat haha!
Great video, mate. New subscriber here going through your back catalogue and enjoying your work. I just want to say that they’re polished bevels not bezels. I wasn’t going to say anything but, like you said in your video, we’re watch collectors and we’re particular.
Stunning watch beyond doubt, beautifully crafted 2nd to none and probably the best looking every day wear to date. There is a grand Seiko that begs to differ of course. Unfortunately being a stickler for accuracy the fact that it doesn’t hack is a massive detail I cannot overlook. The Breguet Marine 5817 in steel with its silvered solid gold rose engine turned dial lacks the same hacking yet for a lot less money down. One could even pickup a Blancpain XXII 10Hz which hacks as well ,with some determination. VC ,sort it out.
Great video. I love this watch, have my eye on the white gold ultra fine version. I'd also like to add that it is part of the 'Holy-Trinity' of Swiss Watches and is the oldest of the three companies :)
Beautiful watch. Wonder how a Geneva seal finished watch, both inside and out, compared to those with the Credor seal made in the Micro Artist Studio, the latest being the Grand Seiko SBGZ001 and 003 with the latest 9R02 movement. If only someone could get their hands on one of of this to show case.
3 years later.................. This watch is like rocking horse shit in AD's. Oh, how I wish I could walk in now and buy this watch with no wait list.
Way out my price range but OMG what a looker! Normally I change out the bracelet, but I may be tempted to keeping it on. Quick change?!? Stunning watch.
The quick change bracelet system is safe? Or you can realise that you lost your watch in the crowd because you didn’t fix it good? Sorry if my question is dumb
I’ve seen the black dial one in person but and it’s beautiful and if I decide to use my brain, this is the watch that I need to buy. But Like you said by pictures alone I’m pretty much zoned in on getting a pre owned aquanaut can’t explain why. Thanks for the vid beautiful work
It is gorgeous and it does tick the boxes, the lack of display back on Royal Oak is terrible, but it also has to be said, if we look at Overseas 2, from just 4 years ago, the design looks dated, several things on the dial already, while Nautiluses (or is it Nautili?) or Royal Oaks from days gone by still look great and even Rolex designs are timeless almost no matter which model from when we look at. Not saying that's the reason but Vacheron also tends to not do too great value retention wise. On the other hand, on the Chinese market, VC is considered above Patek in terms of prestige and exclusivity and China is now a mature, knowledgeable watch market.
This is my grail watch (the one I’ll always want but never afford). I wish it had hacking seconds, especially now that Patek has quietly added it to their latest Nautilus. I hope VC does the same, introducing hacking, without requiring a new generation, because I love the gen 3.
Excellent review. I have this very watch in brown, love it and I can tell it’s incredibly precise also. So the movement is not only beautiful but works extremely well. And yes the lack of hack second is the only real disadvantage of that watch (with the 2 years guarantee - Rolex and AP give 5..). But the fact that you can go to your AD and just buy it in a relaxed way without premium or 5 years waiting lists makes the all experience very enjoyable.
