I love HEB coffee. I have my sister in law who lives in Texas ship me up Texas Pecan. I got my vacuum sealer at a yard sale for $3 dollars. Best $3 I ever spent. Great uses for it! I never thought of sealing a whole rifle.
For things with hard sharp edges, protect them with packaging cardboard. The stuff that cereal boxes cracker boxes, etc works well and can be converted to firestarter or writing surfaces.
One thing you left out was dry tinder. Get some hamster bedding or maybe some pencil shavings and vac seal those. Bring along a zip baggie for after you open it though (no way to reseal easily after you open it when bugging out). Tip: get a ladies' eyebrow pencil sharpener, the one with both sizes. You can shave small twigs to make small tinder. Weighs next to nothing too. ANY tiny manual pencil sharpener should work in a pinch.
One thing with sealing really hard things like ammo and firearms is any contact at all with another hard surface even other sealed metal objects is that it makes tiny little holes in the bag and you lose the seal pretty fast. The dings are so small you'll never see them but it happens without fail especially with the cheaper bulk food saver type plastic. Get some thicker mylar type bags for something as critical as a firearm. I also stuff an oxygen absorber in the magwell just make sure that it's not full of grease or oil.
Strike anywhere matches and striker or the whole box whatever you prefer in my opinion it is best to make two packages out of one box of 300 matches that way if you have open one pack and ends up wet you still have the other
One piece of advice I have for mags, when setting them up for long-term storage (caché stuff), I half load, or 2/3 load them to try and preserve spring life.
Good video! I just check on Amazon and those sealers aren't expensive! How long does the food last sealed and do you have to worry about the plastic contaminating the food over time?
@@ronfreeman75 I just started a few months ago myself. I just use oxygen absorbers. I researched it for about a week before I dove in and I don't recall any videos or articles referencing Diet tenacious earth but the oxygen absorbers are a must.
I'm going to have to explain to my boss why I keep bringing in random gear and vacuume sealing it with ours at work. Trying to make the most of everything anyway or anywhere I can 😎👍
Batteries, dressings/bandages/gauze, tourniquets, electronics, ammo/mags, firearms, the options are endless....this is a necessity and highly recommended if you have not yet taken the plunge.
I'm vacuum sealing a few carton's lol and I see you've done that, but do you think it's dangerous to fully suction seal the lighter? Another good thing to seal up is medical supplies
Yeah you’re smart guy. Have you forgot the biggest thing medical all your medical supplies should be individually vacuum, sealed but yeah your family can dry jerky your Johnny cakes think about those. Thanks.
