So this is a complete rebuild on the Best boiler vaillant ever built in my opinion. In this i strip it down from start to finish and start to rebuild.. In the upcoming video you will see tests performed and generally rebuild and possible faults rectified etc. It was all carried out .... now i need to work out whether its worth the next video.. If enough interest i will carry on... Ps any ideas for the complete unit ???

I agree the best boiler Vaillant ever made. In 22 years of operation I have only changed two air pressure switches and I circuit board on my own boiler.

Thank you for filming and posting. I was with you up until you started fabricating new components, then you pressed the accelerator and went into the stratosphere. Proper old school engineering mindset. Stay strong (mentally and physically) and thank you once again👍🏾

Epic! I still bring boilers home (10 years in the trade) and strip them down to bare parts. I call it my post-mortem

Great vid. I hope there is a part II. I got rid of my TurboMax about 3 years ago and replaced it with. Worcester Bosch Green Star. I prefer the TurboMax personally. The GreenStar DH water temp is all over the place and you have to run it quite fast to be remotely stable. I guess it's not the GreenStars fault. It has to play by different rules and try to be all eco friendly. The TirboMax went because after 18 years of reliable Service, it had 3 faults in a year. As an engineer the Bath Tub curve spung to mind and decided it was time for it to go.

Best video I've watched this year that boiler will come up better than new when your finished meticulous work and the patience of a saint.but in all fairness those were built nice with quality components but vaillant learned their lesson later on with the rubber hose fiasco got their fingers burnt and had to revert back to the old and trusted copper flow and return pipework the only weak looking component seemed to be the heat exchanger was the green verdigris just cosmetic

Thanks appreciate the comment. All of them seem to get that in the corner .. no idea why green and a dab of soot.

Great video, its a good way for people to learn and build experience. Have you always been a gas engineer ? I was a CNC machinist and now repair and improve schools my back ground was a great place to start. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Thanks buddy, no I haven’t always been a Gas engineer, have always fixed stuff tho. Being a fixer or machinist is an amazing skill set.

That was an excellent to watch a video Dr pipe thoroughly enjoyed it how many guys will go to this level of workmanship Down in my area Brighton you’ll be lucky if you got the expansion vessel topped topped up with air pressure or the condense trap cleaned out most engineers to just not interested in doing it anymore what has happened to the industry!? Have you seen Mark rays video ‘vaillant boilers replaced for no reason’ It’s quite interesting to watch and you will like it

That all came apart a bit too easy for my liking, it as if you greased all the rubbers up before starting, when in the real world your swinging on the electrical pump connections with 18” Stilsons because they won’t come apart! 😂 Another good video dr pipe, keep up the good work and up the content if you could 👍🏻

Def real world that one , I dont do Fake just smash n grab. Putting it back together u will see me cock it up as I had forgotten where the bits were and how it goes back after 18 months, very different when u do it all in an afternoon than years later !! all the best bud

Clap for nhs lasted didn’t it 😂 now it’s get jabbed or get sacked. What a thickle set of people we have. Lovely vids tho mate. It’s a shame boiler manafacteurs and bosses push engineers for new boilers. Seen Worcester’s replaced because the prv had gone from lack of servicing from the same company who fitted a new boiler!! Crazy

Obviously not practical in a real world scenario but imagine if this was how we serviced all boilers - the install game would crash overnight hahaha
@drpipe
@drpipe 2 года назад
It may become practical if spares become difficult ?.. and boilers more expensive ?

@@drpipe I meant from a time/cost point of view - I'm all for it myself and wish we could be doing this more often but I wouldn't even know how to price that!

I was under the impression that if a boiler was even slightly dusty it needed replacing as "its showing its age", "its beyond economical repair", "you cant get parts for this model anymore" etc. etc. It does seem funny that you seem to be wanting to restore one whereas my fathers been conned into getting two in the last 10 years. Still, he was only a pensioner......
@drpipe
@drpipe 2 года назад
Still get spares easy, beyond economic repair is down to whether you want warranties on a boiler or not .. only parts go wrong on that boiler are fan, Diverter, odd Gas valve.. generally well kept they go on and on. It’s a little like being advised by the government... some do some don’t...
