My arrangement of this great song by Laufey. The first time I heard it I literally thought it was a jazz standard that I somehow had never discovered before. Sheet music: / valentine-piano-104104089
Tysm for your interest! Currently, there's no sheet music available, but once I hit 100 subs, I'll be creating and giving away free sheet music for the most-liked video. I might continue this at later milestones, possibly even counting donations as additional "likes." Since I'm still in the early stages of building this channel, it'll take some time to figure everything out. I hope you stick around in the meantime :) ♥
@@honestkeysHi, I also love this arrangement! I had a go at transcribing it, but I am quite new to it so I am sure there are mistakes. I hope it’s okay to post here but please let me know if not, I’ll happily take it down. Subscribed and excited for your next arrangement :)
@@henrydennis7669 Hey there, I'm honestly thrilled that you enjoyed it enough to transcribe it! Tbh, I'm a bit conflicted as I've got plans to eventually release my own sheet music. That said, I think you can keep the video up - it might come in handy for someone in the meantime before I release mine. However, I would appreciate it if you could refrain from uploading a pdf version. Thanks for your support :)
Yo Im kinda drunk af but thaks for the best piano cover of Valentine if you will again. The triplet trills in the final verse, the arpeggios are all so beautiful, please keep doing what you do
Lyric by Joe Hirakawa : I've rejected affection For years and years Now I have it and damn it It's kind of weird He tells me I'm pretty Don't know how to respond I tell him that he's pretty too Can I say that? Don't have a clue With every passing moment I surprise myself I'm scared of flies I'm scared of guys Someone please help Cause I think I've fallen In love this time I blinked and suddenly I had a Valentine What if he's the last one I kiss? What if he's the only one I'll ever miss? Maybe I should run, I'm only twenty-one I don't even know who I want to become I've lost all control of my heartbeat now Got caught in a romance with him somehow I still feel a shock through every bone When I hear an "I love you" Cause now I've got someone to lose The first one to ever like me back I'm seconds away from a heart attack How the hell did I fall in love this time? And honestly, I can't believe I get to call you mine I blinked and suddenly I had a Valentine Valentine
Thank you so much! I'm not sure if you mistook me for someone else since I've only made one Laufey's arrangement so far :P but I'm definitely planning to do more!
what in the world did i just watch, im literally in tears. i discovered this channel through ur arrangement of amore mio aiutami and love all of the arrangements youve posted here, but this is by far my fave. the way you play the jumping bass fifths (is that the right term) together with the arpeggiated chords and melody simultaneously so smoothly is just mindblowing, or idk maybe its just bc i only play guitar/bass and which is why i feel so amazed by your arrangement. anyways, theres something about it being so full yet not overwhelming which some pianists do (sorry to my bandmate HAHAHA). man, this tune made my day. this channel deserves to blow up. good luck on your future projects and remember that you are creating great music.
Yo be careful my ego can only be inflated so much 😭 Thank you so much for what is probably the most passionate comment I've received on here. I still have a very long way to go but I'll keep your words around on my lowest days. Btw, I think the "jumping fifths" you're referring to is a left-hand technique called stride.
@@honestkeys OOOOO i just searched examples of strides and yes, you're right, it was what i was referring to (it sounds very bossa nova-like bc of the rhythmic patterns of the root note and chords, its kind of addicting). this has got to be one of the first things i'll be learning once i get my piano back hdgshjdshg
I’m sitting on my couch in absolutely disbelief with what I am seeing and hearing this is beyond beautiful!!! Please don’t stop you have a very very rare gift and u deserve to show the world this your incredibly talented. I’m not that good on piano but I’m considering learning this to perform at school for my first solo after watching this I just have no words I’m speechless. Your genuinely an inspiration ❤ I can’t stop rewatching omg
Sounds amazing! By any chance, how do you recommend learning songs by ear? I'm a pretty proficient classical pianist in terms of technical ability, but I don't have much of an ear or theory knowledge.
Thank you! I'd suggest starting small and learning songs you like that have 4 chords or less. Play them as simply as chord on the left hand and melody on the right hand. Try to get good at that first before moving on to songs with more complex harmonies and learning to voice the chords better (some notes of the chords on the left hand and some on the right, for example). Hope that helps!
May you please do Bored by Laufey? I have a talent show in a month and me and my friend were planning on preforming that song- I play and she sings. It would be awesome because from what it seems there's not any great tutorials on it yet. It would be extremely helpful. Thank u for your time :)
Hey! I just listened to Bored and it's a really nice song but I have a few others in the work atm so I'm not sure if I can get to it anytime soon. Best of luck with your talent show regardless!
hello!! can I use this to audition with jazz vocal to a contest? it’s only for getting accepted into the contest like a pre-selection and I’ll definitely give you credit as a backing track :)
@@honestkeys heyy tbh I don't know why but I cannot share the link, but you can check the record I shot from the last video on this channel, I share my covers here :) thank u sm again!
It's a bit difficult to write a chord sheet for a solo arrangement like this because there usually are too many of them and sometimes the line between a chord and the next is not exactly clear. I hope you understand :)
These are not exactly the chords in the video (and yeah, as honestkeys said, it can always be a bit ambiguous where you draw the line between chords), but, by ear, it follows roughly this chord progression. Intro: Ebmaj7 (I) - Edim7 (#I) - Fm7 - (ii) Bbadd9#5 (V) Verse: Eb (I) - Bbaug (V) - Ebmaj7 (I) - Bbaug (V) Eb (I) - Gm (iii) - (Gbm) - Fm7 (ii) - Bb7 (V) Gm7 (iii) - C7 (VI) - Fm7 (ii) - C7 (VI) Fm7 (ii) - (you can optionally do a walk up from F - G - Ab - A - Bb here) Bb7 (V) - Bbaug - repeats.. (not exactly the same but it would take too long to write out the whole song..)
