Excellent video as usual. All your videos are clear and easy to follow and are by far the best available. I am enjoying learning how to sign . Thank you
subscribing to your channel because even basic signing can go a long way. I'm a hearing person in a group with a deaf woman, so it means a lot to be able to communicate even just a little
Hi 👋 could I please just check... Are your videos mirrored, or should I use the same hands you are, as if you were in front of me, so opposing to copying a mirror? Thank you for a super informative video, by the way. I appreciate the different angles too!
Awesome video as always! Can these signed be used outside of the valentines day context? For instance using "I like you" as a way of saying - "I like you because you are my friend" and using the same sign for "I love you" to end a conversation to a partner and to a parent?
Thanks for watching :) Yes, they can be used in other contexts. The sign for "like" can be used for affection towards or an interest in something, e.g. "tennis, I like". You can also use it about a person if there's a characteristic you are fond of, e.g. "Tim, I like, he's honest". The sign for "I love you" borrowed from ASL is very common between friends and family. The sign for "love" in BSL with arms crossed on your chest can be used synonymously with adore, almost as if you're holding them tight.
Heh, "I love you" is quite close to identical in Finnish sign language :3 it's just that in Finnish SL, you sign "love" by placing your hands on top of each other over your heart, not _that_ different from the sign "love" in BSL :)
Hands on top of each other is an acceptable way of signing love here too. There are many regional variations for signs in BSL, and there are many signs that can be signed in either slightly, or wildly different ways.
Hi! I've been watching your videos to help communicate with customers at work, but can't seem to find the BSL sign for 'receipt' anywhere on youtube, any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, I hope you and your family staying safe 😊
Thanks for watching! For receipt, use your index fingers and thumbs on both hands to form a rectangular shape (the outline of a till receipt). Start with your index fingers touching each other and your thumbs touching each other, then pull your hands apart. I hope this makes sense, I'll add it to one of our future videos too.
I want to ask someone "Would you like to go on a date with me sometime?" but all I know is "Date" can anyone help me? I'm learning slowly but I want to be able to communicate what I want to say to the guy I like.
I learn it because, I wanted to find someone that I can help with something or when I grow up I can teach people this like you do and create my little buisness helping. My mother is starting to plan helping Thai people with English and translating drivers licents instructions.
