I was watching Air Disasters (Cathay Pacific Flight 780) when this alert was issued, and I immediately lost my mind (with excitement) because I had never seen an EAS for a thunderstorm before. lol this was pretty nostalgic ngl because I was looking for this alert for almost two months and now I’ve finally found it by coincidence on one of my favorite channels. Edit: you can’t blame me, I was a six-year-old lol
Actually i hated KWO35 not serving Central Jersey’s capital County. It made Mercer County look like a Philadelphia-only county for WX Stations like WXL39 KIH28 and WXM60. And also on the transmitter propagation map of KWO35 I found that Ocean County was there. Making New Jersey’s Mercer useless to New York City and useful to Philadelphia instead. Which is sad. Considering that Mercer is entirely halfway between Philadelphia and New York and they serve both networks’ media. And this is true. Because it was good to hear Mercer on KWO35 but it was too little too late for them to change that.

Because the EAS is used for television, radio, and for wireless alerts, broadcasting these tones on television or radio could activate the EAS because an EAS station, such as a broadcast or cable system, will receive the tones. This has happened in the past, and the FCC fines heavy amounts for unauthorized broadcast of a government warning system.
@@SPCOakland48374 i am buying a wr400. If I play a youtube video like this on the TV, will it activate the device? Or do I have to purposefully broadcast it? Knowing my siblings they'd play this and then I'd get thrown in jail.
@@tacticalidiot175 good question. The short answer is no. You’re buying a NOAA weather radio, which allows you to listen to the government frequencies and channels used for NOAA weather radio all hazards. If you record a video of a EAS tone, and play it on RU-vid, it won’t activate the EAS anywhere in the United States. Only if it is broadcasted on the official frequencies (162.400 MHz to 162.550 MHz) will the EAS activate should a tone be played. Or if the tone is played on an official television network that’s airing the tones live. Watching a EAS video on RU-vid doesn’t broadcast the tones to the frequencies, so, it wouldn’t activate the device.
