Valkyria Chronicles 4 Extra Story: The Two Valkyria Selvaria Route 

I think despite being one of the main characters her potential popularity was severely underestimated by SEGA. So the only thing left for them is to add DLCs with her in every mainline game and always make her a playable character. Aaaand keep making figurines of her. I'm also thinking that If they knew how much love she would get from the fans they would keep her alive. Selvaria died in the fortress to live forever in our hearts as best Valkyria.

@@sorokabeloboka8818I’m no experienced writer, so bear with me on this and offer advice: They can retcon it so that, in Valkyrur history, there has only ever been one instance of a Valkyria that actually survived using the Final Flame, at the cost of her losing all her memories of her life and having to once again reawaken to her powers. Surrounded by people that actually cared, she eventually regained most of her memories, but chose to leave her powers dormant for the remainder of her life. Make it so that history repeated itself and Selvaria was the second to survive. With no memories, and no one nearby to help her (and I highly doubt a search party would’ve gone to the site due to the massive explosion), she wandered alone for some time until she eventually found someone to take her in (who had little to no knowledge of the Valkyrur’s history). She probably regained some of her Imperial memories, since her caretaker(s) would likely talk about some of the events of the war, but not enough to remember that she was a high-ranking general. Make it so that she decides to join a local militia (that didn’t know what Selvaria looked like) to protect her new home, eventually joining a war, and starts regaining some of her older memories. During a climactic moment, she remembers the powers of the Valkyria and pretty much all of the events of VC1, and eventually reawakens her powers to save her new friends and family.

Selvarias position as icon of the franchise despite having perished quite early in the series lifespan reminds me a bit of Darth Vader and how he gets marketed in Star Wars. That they are both supernaturaly powerful, right-hands to their emperors/prince helps too. Hell, both their masters even get thrown into shafts to their death, though it would have been more karmic If Selvaria did the deed and not Faldio in his contrived manner. As added food for thought, imagine how pissed the Star Wars fans would have been if Palpatine were a similar dick like Maximillian and had ordered Darth Vader in the middle of the third movie to make a Holdo maneuver against generals Ackbars fleet and sacrifice himself with it like Selvaria did. That would had made not many people happy I presume. Sadly, Selvarias shitty past does not leave much room open for a prequel like with Anakin.

@@HuttsonKill To be fair, I'm pretty sure the other games show Selvaria to actually be a very reasonable and caring commander, which leads to her troops being fanatically loyal to her. I think in one of the DLCs for one of the other games, she even had a Potential that triggered a stat boost for her if an ally was either attacked or killed near her. I believe her only detrimental Potential is that she gets a debuff when she is near tanks, but that still doesn't really mean Tanks will do much to her. :P And then there's the stat buff she gets if she is reduced to less than 50% health....

@@SuperMilkbox one of the main characters of VC1 was a lancer^^ and she was a scout in VC 1 too and scouts have the highest AP and she needs the AP so i dunno. probably that. or its a acknowledging the meme of how op scouts are as a class so might as well make the most op character scout as well^^ look up order stacking on alicia in VC1 for the true brokken scout experience^^

Selvaria is basically a fusion of a Scout, Shocktrooper, and Lancer all rolled into one, and she has more health than an actual Tank to boot. She's downright broken.

If you are referring to Johann (The engineer in the VC1 DLC), pretty sure that the name is different because that's a different soldier. Johann met Selvaria at the beginning of the invasion of Gallia, this takes place two years earlier

@@anonimo2932 In first game, she treated like trash. Even in sequel or prequel or side story, she still treated like trash in the end because the first series is unbreakable canon. I don't mind if they (the creator) make her as the worst villain, but she definitely deserve better ending.

they making VC3 have a 2 route, but VC1 only have 1 route... i mean there's a flag you can choose before MC (Welkin) getting romantic feeling with Alicia and another chance is after 2nd battle right before Welkin prisoning her under the fat ass commander and do suicide bom... yeah i hate how they treated her like trash and fan service bait ughhhhhh

Yeah but Oswald joined Selvaria's squad two years later. This takes place before EWII

@@andrewchern9032 It's not terrible, just off. I think Welkin and the others were much worse IMO. I think the new woman's voice maybe just wasn't deep enough. Without being able to hear them give the same line side by side it's really hard to pinpoint the real issue. Either way, it couldn't have been THAT hard for them to hire the same woman.

I was under the impression that X-0 had been around for a while due to Belgar with Chiara and Nikola as the initial members, and that their introduction in VC4 was only really Walz getting inducted into the group. I mean, you don't get to build a super submarine for a group like that out of thin air if they were just a newly made group.

@@andrewchern9032 Normally yeah, but since she places so much trust in Maximilian, you'd think she'd use his standing to get people like Belgar ousted, if she claims to know the pain of the other valkyria firsthand, you'd think that it would motivate her to pull all the stops to halt these tests. The fact that she still decides to pursue their plans and go along with it despite the hell they put her through just makes her far less sympathetic than how she was originally portrayed. Then again, tbh I feel many of the returning characters from VC1 were written with somewhat conflicting personalities with their original ones for this DLC...

@@andrewchern9032 A fair point, since he did say he wanted revenge against them and was using the invasion of Gallia as his way to climb the social ladder. Either way, her love for Maximilian was selfish...made her do a lot of awful things.

I mean it is true, but can you really blame her? She did want to be treated normally, like a human, yet there was no one to do so, and she found Maximilian to be the closest case and was willing to do anything just to have that little bit of sympathy. Her love for him was more like the loyalty a dog has to it's caring owner. She simply has no another world and knows no other way to live because she never experienced one. And she probably ignored all of that for the sake of being loyal to Maximilian as well, believing he will bring justice, until that image was shattered during events of VC1. But back then in her eyes he was the only person she could exist for in this world, having no one else. Maybe she would have had a chance to redeem herself by becoming some kind of Jedi mentor to Alicia in terms of Valkyrur powers, having realized that Maximilian is no different, but she may find "family" in a person bearing same fate. That is If she overcame the love for Maximilian and realised, or If someone at least once told her that he doesn't deserve her loyalty. But as the plot dictates, seems like she wasn't able to withstand the betrayal of the only person she worshipped and has sacrificed herself more out of feeling that there is no point to live, rather than Maximilian's order. Kind of makes me sad she was wasted like that, could have been taken in many directions as a character. As of ignoring the crimes of the laboratory, I cannot add anything to what was already stated above. There are no chances one person could deal with an entire state controlled process of such importance, and it probably would be a hindrance to Maximilian's plans as well, so, here's that... We could make some parallels with Jack from Mass Effect series here. She also tolerated Miranda and agreed to work alongside then-Cerberus-affiliated Shepard for the sake of a goal, despite Cerberus breaking her into becoming biotic superweapon.

Also the fact that she did her best to make sure her men and Alicia's team will make it out alive, fully knowing that the existence of another Valkyria could easily end Maximilian's plans, does show she gets somewhat of her own opinion eventually. Could be a sign of her growth between these events and the VC1 war, or could simply just be an element of poor writing on VC4's part.

@@Alte.Kameraden Yeah only Colleen O'Shaughnessey reprised her role as Alicia Melchiott out of all Squad 7 members in the DLC. Guess it's no surprise that April Stewart was also replaced. Still disappointing though.

@@huaxiong1990 Japanese Studio's are renown for not trying too hard to get the same cast even for sequels. I remember how hard it was getting used to Char Aznable's voice change, 3 different times......... 4 different times if you include the original VHS version of The Gundam Movie Trilogy.

I should give the Japanese audio a look, I usually do if I have the option :3

The Japanese voices are utter trash. The english voice work is better
