Valkyria is a very under-the-radar game and deserves more flare. It honestly combined RTS elements with third person shooting damn good. Aside from VC2 being the shorter and lesser game, i think that Valkyria Chronicles is a very consistent and well made series.
@@CatisFinetoo yeah, i agree. the gameplay (or gunplay) is very clunky when compared xcom or other similar turn-based shooters. the game functions more of a puzzle oddly enough, especially with the absolute bs grading system which promotes cheese. what valkyria chronicles 1 and 4 do very efficiently though is the feelings it conveys. it feels very down-to-earth, especially in the original where basically everyone was militia and knew each other and was just fighting for their home. you don't really see that much in movies or in anime.
I guess shooting game and people that can tolerate anime doesn't really fit together. which is why most people that like anime isn't interested on this genre, while those that liked this genre got turned off by how "anime" the story is at times
@@CatisFinetoo yeahh, totally, l got atracted to the Franchise because of story telling, soundtracks (very special ones), that WW1/Erupean kingdom ambient and the aesthetic look, gameplay was last on the list, that only proves how good is the concept despite a forgettable gameplay.
I feel like VC4 had a little more exposition, let's hope it help the licence being a bit more popular, futhermore now that games like Fire Emblem seems to have gotten popularity to strategy game ^^ !
@Tommy Guo I understand all of that. VC1 set a very high standard. It was a very solid game. VC3 was(in my opinion at least) the best of them. I personally really liked everything this game did, but I know it's not for everyone. Sometimes things dont click for others when they do for me and that's understandable. We all have different opinions and viewpoints. In myopinion, VC2 was not as good as the rest. It may have gotten better, but I just couldnt get into it
@Tommy Guo I agree this cheesy moments were ruining the game for me too. Overall I think sega needs to put more faith and better ideas in this franchise. 🤨
1:11 This leitmotif gets me every time it is used in this game's soundtrack. From the music in headquarters, to the more somber takes of it in songs used later in the game. I will always associate it with the courage of Squad E and the Federation forces, and the sacrifices that were made along the way.
Sequel is guranteed guys!! :) Just look at Sega's Amercan channel how many views it got the trailer!! Here's the Link : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-COm0gNo2-T0.html
Matthew Brandt I already have. I got the Memoirs of the Battle edition. it came with these two DLC's, a little statue of the Hafen, a controller skin, and an artbook of the game.
@@heinkelboy0551 i know the concept art book if you look real closely it is a real journal i found that out and its an awesome read, and to have squad 7 in my squad what more can you ask for that makes it GOTY for me.
Matthew Brandt True. But still, as good as I find this game, I still love the other three games, including VC1, which is still my favorite. I hope they actually do another game where Squad 7 takes the lead again.
The only downside in this game is that you can't give the Edelweiss custom parts. But other than that, everything about this is as good or even better than the original. And I LOVED the original.
You might not have noticed the sudden change of pace(from serenity to a more agitaded rhythm) but your brain did. All I did was give that final push. Suddenly it all makes sense, eh? :D
Me playing as troops invading a massive empire on the Eastern Front before being smashed to ribbons in a bloody counter-attack in the height of winter.... "Are we the baddies?"
Raz was great, surprisingly human character and leads to the best moment in the game in chap 16. The whole main cast was great, its a shame alot of fans give claude and riley a bad rep.
@@jsh020 I mean, the game as a whole is great, but people kinda disliked the obvious love dynamic between them. After playing through about half of the game, I can kinda see why
I still absolutely adore this series, i honestly hope they make another one at some point. Maybe one we will get to play from the side of the empire. That could be pretty nice.
Hitoshi Sakamoto has done several amazing VG soundtracks. He's done the other Valkyira Chronicles soundtracks, the Tactics Ogre soundtracks (the PSP one is fully orchestral), Final Fantasy Tactics and FF12, and the Dragon's Crown soundtrack. If you like this check out any of those if you haven't already.
Still, VC3's OST feels more badass... Idk, after playing VC4 I just decided to refresh my memories about Nameless, and once I opened PPSSPP and heard that epic main title I realised that there was no better game in series than 3rd one...
Imo, Even if the game was easy, It was an amazing experience, i need more game like that (VC3 was a mistake but i forgive the devs because VC4 was good)
My "friends" hate this and call it trash cause there's no multiplayer 😂😂😂 and get this command and conquer cause nobody plays it btw they haven't played both
