I'm really glad you're playing this game, I've loved what I've played of it so far. Just a note from what you said about exp: individual units don't have exp, but using the same one multiple times can eventually get them promoted. As far as I'm aware, this doesn't change their stats, but will unlock some other stuff later on. Unless you swap out your entire team every battle, you probably won't need to worry much about it.
The icons signify their classes. Kai is a Sniper and all snipers have that icon. Raz is a Shocktrooper and all have that icon such as with Zaiga. The others are scouts. Some classes are weak to others. Such as scouts are weak to Shocktroopers. . Tanks are weak at the rear (blue) square and Lancers.
Ok, Twit, some pointers: When a unit is moving, the other side will shoot them if they are in range. Scouts have more AP than other classes. Assault class weapons are inaccurate, but fire a lot of bullets. Don’t go for headshots. Really, only snipers should be head shoting. The tank radiator is a weak spot yes, but the main tank gun is still enough to hurt tanks a lot. Don’t go out of your way to move your tank so you can shoot the radiator, but if you must, don’t attack the radiator from the side, make sure the radiator is facing you full on. Same with anti tank infantry. Never fight a tank with a sniper. You can only shoot once per cp. after the shot, move to cover or hunker down. Never send a single unit off alone. If it’s like the one I played, a unit that gets killed can be saved if you move another unit next to it. Otherwise you lose that character after a few turns or an enemy gets to them. And finally, don’t be a idiot. Play things safe unless you’re forced to get reckless.
A few corrections. All units have an interception range, all classes have an interception range of 90*, while Scouts have a 270* range facing from the front. Scouts should also aim for headshots whenever possible. Anyone should go for headshots, really, whenever possible. Unless you can get a kill without requiring headshots, then, well, go for it. If the opportunity is there, always aim for the radiator. It usually saves you 2-3 CP. Common sense. Pretty much one of the first things this game tells you. Of course, you could also get into a good spot for interception fire. Scout Rushing, or, Shocktroopers are enough to live on their own for a good while. AI never goes for headshots, save for some mid-game bosses.
I've watched this channel for how long and I just discovered this playlist 2 days ago. I guess that's what happens when I watch mostly Neptunia videos from this channel along with not playing the game in almost 6 years. But that just means I have a full playlist of videos to watch, and with how long the playlist is, I better get conformable, it's gonna be a long ride with Squad E.
It's amazing how much character development there is in but a few words for every single member of your squad in this game. Please don't get anybody perma-killed.
I downloaded the Switch demo for this, and immediately thought this is a weird game. This is essentially "an anime turn-based strategy war game first person shooter", maybe even a bit of RPG in there :D Perhaps a bit too much of everything for my liking... perhaps. Interesting for sure, seems like something that haven't been done all that much (well, if you don't mind the apparently other Valkyria Chronicles)
Ah right. About units leveling up. There are two kinds of leveling. One is done in your base through "Training" option - it increases the stats of all soldiers of the same class. The other one is promotion ranks that are gained through using lots of command points on a soldier - these unlock side stories and character development. Getting a soldier to the rank of corporal will unlock a side chapter for three members of your squad - if you already have all three required soldiers, that is. More are introduced along the way. I think ranking up the other two before you do the event will unlock extra lines of text in their bio. You get the posh tea lady by amassing hundreds of thousands of in-game money later on.
Oh my God Twit is actually playing valkyria Chronicles!? I thought that test video was just that a test but no you're actually playing VC4 despite it being made by Sega. And right off the bat you're in love with fighting in a tank but you got pissed off because people were talking when you were trying to talk..... I hope that you're going to be enjoying the rest of the game especially since you said that you're enjoying it so far and the fact that you like Raz just like my friend who also likes him.
@@TheTwitGamer It sounds like it lol. In any event, I'll be keeping an eye on this one just to hear your thoughts on the game since this is your first introductory into the franchise and I just wanted to see your reaction to a lot of shit including some other characters down the road. Just be very careful where you place your unit after you end your turn.
Speaking of units, later on you need to pay attention to the characters "personality" traits, they *will* have affects on the battlefield(some are harsh).
I feel like this is definitely going to be a learning experience for you this time around probably expecting people to give you tips if not already lol.
You really should try out the original, the first game, i loved that playthrough and i think you would do well with it. One of my favorite characters was Isara the pilot of the MC's tank
@@TheTwitGamer found him, Keith Ballard, 29 videos in his LP of the game, may they help you in your own LP, well, on to episode 2 of your LP for the fourth game
Friendly fire exists in this game, twit. Also their are a few general class types that your squad members can fall into. Scouts, Shooktroopers, Lancers, Snipers, Engineers, Tanks and the new ones introduced in VC4, Grenadiers and an APC. You only get the second tank late into the game. For example: Raz is a Shooktrooper, they have the second lowest AP of any class but their rapid fire weapons more then make up for it. Nico is a Scout. They have a fuck tone of AP allowing them to move the farthest of any infantry unit. And finally, Kai is a Sniper. The long range specialist. They are squishy so keep them in the back and out of harms way. P.s. Just a friendly side note, but you might need to do some grinding of screen so you can afford to level up troops and afford better weapons and equipment for them as you go. As soon as you get past the half way point the game kicks the difficulty from 10 to 1000 and it only gets worse from that point onwards.
This game is basically the cold war re-imagined. I've also been binging cold war movies lately. Atomic blonde Bridge of spies Tinker tailor soldier spy The man from uncle The good Shepard So tired of it but so good.
Oh Jesus Christ... Alright, I have some knowledge about this series. If you want to know a bit more about classes, weapons, guns, etc... Just let me know.
@@TheTwitGamer good just be prepared for the later map they can really kick ass if you not careful also shockthoops are the best when it comes to taking out enemys while they are moving on there turn
Ahhh, I've heard about Valkyria Chronicles 4. I'll put my hands up and say that I've only played the first one on Steam and it was very good, never got to play the second and third one though.. So I'm very interested to see how this one goes. :)
24:08 Probably the first time i heard you wish to miss. 25:54 Or a "4" rank? 26:15 I don't think it was called "Europan" as a typo. Probably a fictional version of the world since the first VC is set in alternate version of WWII.
+TheTwitGamer in valkyria Chronicles 1 and 2 you had to move your tank with two CPs now in valkyria Chronicles 4 you get to move your tank one CP also I think valkyria Chronicles 3 move their tank 1 CP
I hated this game. It felt like a series of minigames strung together under the pretext of some micromanaged starcraft campaign.then again, I guess some people likes that sort of thing but for me it counts as an insult.
