Valkyrie is great, but I liked the old version more 

The biggest nerf was the change on the 'hands off' execution

I think the real reason people don't play Valkyrie is because when you take the time to really understand her fashion you realize that underneath her skirt she is wearing shorts. Now, you can appreciate the thigh gripping shorts for what they are, but i think that a skirt over shorts is something that truly hurts Valkyrie as a hero.

her bash is most comparable to chargeable bashes like warden/warmonger/cent and hito. Since it’s delayable and “feintable.” Adding the light after the whiffed bash would be like adding a light after missing wardens bash. Might be too strong

I have quite some time with Valk and the followup after the bash is strong, but is no stronger than other bs we have in the game so they could give it to her. Still not essential for her kit to be viable. In my opinion what she realy needs are undogeable heavy finishers. Lights might be too op. Heavyes are cluky af right now. Half the times they hit and half they phase trough an enemy. Plus the sweep is reactalbe (animations are cristal clear on that move) so it's basically a "Plz daddy, f**k me" move in a 1v1 scenario. It only works in ganks. This would give her more opportunities to let stuff go and play in an aggresive manner and not only heavy to feint ad punish a baited dodge attack or bash. Also it would make my ass less burned out when compared to shaolin. At the moment he has a better sweep in every way, shape of form. An other way of thackle things would be to give her the ability to dodge out of her sweep. It would spice things up without giving too much freedom.(Ideea just campe up. Might be fun for some sweet deflect montages like old orochi's multiple deflects) Also, very important QoL. She needs a fix on the lighh finisher push timings. If you are too close to a wall even if you push an enemy you won't get a heavy and most of the times even a light. We have Afeera, Jorg and Nuxia. They all can get thier heavy after a displacement wallsplat so it would be fair for Valk to get hers too.

Personally I think old Valk was more fun and a much healthier character for the game. Her old soft feint animation into bash looked so good and it was much easier to punish than Valk right now. The only reason to dodge attack Valk really is if you're making a read they're going for a guard break or you go for a guard break when they enter full guard. Id prefer old Valk bash but let her have her neutral forward full guard into bash. I just really miss old Valk tbh haven't had fun with her since and she was one of my favorites

Honestly for fashion my fav so far is the Fjara armor set with the carrion eater weapon set. Combine it with a red material and it looks kinda like a desert warrior. Smack some desert, fire or sand effects on it (like riches of the deep) and it looks pretty slick. I use no ornaments but I haven't experimented with it a lot...

I love the skyward sword music lol, takes me back to memories playing with grandma as a kid.

I liked the old Valk more than this "new" one, but she's still one of my highest reps, and a comfort character to go back to every now and then.

When they took the light away I stopped playing valk all together, a good way to implement it would be that she could only do a top light after the bash so that it’s similar to monkey man

My valkyrie play slow down the moment they removed her charged headbutt, I used to have a combo with her that if done with the right teammates you could 100-0 people in like 2 seconds

I think they could add recovery cancel dodges like orochi's, or undodgeable heavy finishers, or one side unblockable heavy finisher, or make 2 options of dodge attack, with light and heavy, or make some bleeding pressure like PK. I said "OR" ... one of these things should help her kit, but I like to play her anyways... I like the superior gard dodge with gb, glad they didnt remove that

The thing I miss most about old valk was her old bash. The soft front looked amazing and was a lot more useful then her current one. Not to mention she had a forward dodge gb like raider, which was guaranteed after a deflect, but since they changed the bash input she no longer has that option. I still love the character and have mained her for 2-3 years, and she’ll always be a comfort character for me, but he rework took some getting used to and I wouldn’t mind some of the old changes coming back.

If she could light after bash it would have to have a really long chain link time or you couldn't punish it with a GB

what seems weird to me is that the finisher lights are dodged with the same timing as the sweep. What's the point then? People always dodge, and there is no reliable punish for a dodge. A dodge can be either a dodge attack or an empty dodge. Against some characters you can heavy->feint->light to hit both dodge types. Make either the finisher light or the sweep delayable such that people cant easily option select the sweep and the finisher lights. Or something simpler -> finisher lights to 600ms and undodgeable. Slower players can then still block it if they don't go for a dodge on the sweep. (500ms undodgeable that leads to a wall splat seems crazy op on slower reacting elo ranges.) EDIT: My own post made me think and I went to training to check: After hitting or getting a chain heavy blocked, the opponent cannot dodge the finisher light (regardless of guard switch). So nevermind my comment lol. I only find this out now xD

I think she needs un-dodgeable heavy finisher and a better opener. As far as button inputs go for sweep, she can't feign it or exchange it with guard break (only season 1 valks will understand). it isn't the 50/50 it used to be. having the slow and punishable bash makes sense if it was only one of those things. I know what you're saying when you say that valk is a pub stomp character, she can be brutal against people that feed and can't read. I personally liked her better when she had soft feint bash. It encouraged a more aggressive play style. She has the least customization out of every character in the game and she is one of the oldest. We should start a petition for more armors.

More skins? I'm more into advokating for a more consumer friendly customization. We got using scrap for an option as a hotfix, permanent gear "blueprint" unlocks too would be nice, we can "rotate out" the old stuff so it becomes free or slap on a permanent discount when new seasons are rolling in, as an option as well. (That way people will be able to create some awesome stuff without going bankrupt, and content that ubi made emplyees put "hours" into for the fans, actually gets a use too). I'm personally on the "no pre fab skins" side, since it really has no place in a game centered around character customization. So I really disagree with adding more of it as a solution to this problem. Since it's not actually adressing the issue at large. Which is, it's too expensive and time consuming to be truly worthwhile to do. So SolidSol, please. I don't think its a good to give ubi the idea that skins is the way forward, when I think most of the playerbase just want the game to respect the players time put into it, and pay out accordingly.

if we are talking about fashion throw a bone to me boy berserker, I have never seen a berserker that didn't look like every other berserker in the game

the only thing valk needs is to deplete a bit of stamina from opponents when bashing maybe 10 & for her back all guard to return so you have a higher chance of dodging attacks then catching them with a bash like jj or nobu plus its just more fluid in general

Love hearing someone other than me say that they were upset after her rework. I had Ben maining her for like 4 or 5 years before she got a rework and I was so unbelievably angry!! Didn’t touch her for months (almost a year) after her rework. Now that I’m playing her again, I’ve realized u do in fact have to know what ur doing to play her. Still miss her soft feint bash and original full stance!

I didnt think there was any problem with her. I played her the same way i played her pre rework and it still works.

Honestly the problem is the last rework. She was always alright before then. All she needed was a bit more damage, and they literally took out the chain bash and forced her to go into stance. Playing her is so slow unless you’re literally spamming or zone baiting and it’s actually awful. (27 reps for me, I loved her since launch.)

hey sol I’d recommend using bounty Hunter instead of deadly. You can combine it with remedy perk and get 30 health for every kill. Also if you wipe their team with fury and fire flask you get all your health back lmao. It helps in anti ganks more than deadly does. Rapid refresh is also great on her

As a rep 22u Valk main with a total rep of 38 that has been playing on and off the past 4 years. I am sad to say that I am very displeased with this nerf. I think she was already nerfed enough after her first nerf / rework so many years ago. And I wish she would be restored to her former glory.

Went into hero tactics to learn her moves and mix ups. It doesn't even tell you about shield bash😂. Her kit is basically just light spam and sweep spam

I feel like if you remove the gb punish from a whiffed bash from valk, the scales tilt a lot in her way and her bash will be the safest and most viable offense there is in the game, the only buff i would give her is maybe the 20 dmg on the hit since it was nerfed on other areas and maybe increase the range on the bash

Tbh no bash in the game should have a chain ligh after a whiff. Like you went for a move and failed, it should be punishable, you shouldn't be able to get out of a guardbreak because you can light after you failed a bash.

I hate, absolutely HATE how there's not one Valkyrie piece that doesn't have either fur or horns. And also it's a crime that we still don't have the angelic/godly/whatever-type skin for her as a valkyrie from norse lore.

This is an unfortunately annoying trend with Sol where he plays a character for a little bit, finds the natural flaws, and decides he knows exactly what the character needs to be better, despite admitting not having played crazily with the character and happened to do well. A total of 15 reps on the character likely doesn't qualify you in knowing what the character needs. Not to mention the gameplay was mediocre at best for a majority of the time. What makes Valkyrie more difficult to play has to do with her attacks not having any properties. No UD's and no UB heavies. All she has are displacement light finishers, which are avoidable on the same timing as the sweep, and enhanced dodge lights. Sol's quality of life change asks to reverse the light on whiffed bash nerf. He must have forgotten how safe it was or something because Valkyrie has some of the most versatile defense in the game. At the highest levels of play it was problematic to say the least. The bash is unreactable, so that's one read the player has to make. After that Valk had multiple options: Any side light, any side feintable heavy, or soft feint back into Full Block for another bash mixup. It was particularly oppressive against OOS opponents and even made failed bashes in ganks entirely too safe, given that you could just react to having whiffed and perform any of the aforementioned options. Orochi and Tiandi are less oppressive by comparison, but after Valk's nerf she has no oppression at all after a whiffed bash, but that's just because her bash can guarantee a lot of damage. The devs likely concluded that being monstrously powerful in ganks AND safe was too much. They didn't ever do the same for Orochi and Tiandi because they're very much comparatively weaker gankers. Gryphon was in the same boat because his and Valkyrie's mixup is the same. Asking why certain characters can continue offense from whiffed bashes is tricky. Could be character politics, could be an attempt at diversifying the cast, actual balance concerns, etc. For Valk's case, she was too safe. That's why she can't chain on whiff like others can.

i hate valk, mostly because her sweep it feels way too easy to pull off, it's really hard to dodge, and it guarantees a free heavy. With a character like centurion you have to hold down your bash, making it super easy to dodge/interrupt, to knock people down and get the guaranteed heavy. Doesn't seem fair.

I've been playing valk since her original rework and I love that she's never gotten an undodgeable (though her heavies have like, half undodgeable properties tbh) or an unblockable and I think this makes her really special when compared to most of the cast. I'm also happy less people are playing valk because I gatekeep and girlboss and don't like playing a character I love and being called a meta chaser.

People complain about powercreep, then want to buff a perfectly viable character like valkyrie for no reason. Valkyrie is fine, and is a especially powerful noob stomper. Buffs to this character is just increasing her power for the sake of it. Just leave her alone, theres so many other characters that need attention

I have been playing this game since it was released. I was one of a very few select individuals who mained her and attempted to master this character. I like to think I know Valkyrie very well. There is no character in this game who has been treated worse both by the devs and by the community than Valkyrie has. They changed her entire emote animations when marching fire released and no one noticed. I didn't like when she was first reworked, and I certainly don't like her rework now. They took so much away from her it's ridiculous. Go ahead and look into what original valk could do. You'll be in awe and wonder at how anyone with her old kit could be considered a bad character.

How would Ubisoft make her look good hm?? Valkyries are known to look dull and boring, except in every fantasy lore where they have valkyries. I really like her kit but somehow it feels awkward and linear to play her. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong though.

Valk has fallen victim to the high level comp dominion nerds. I played her so much before she got this rework. Once I saw it I hated it. Once I played with it I was so bored. Strong and boring. The new standard for characters and reworks nowadays.

Nah Sol, you crazy. That the first time i say this but you might not know how to properly play Valk my dude. Have vou ever seen a optimal player with her? Do you hate fighting a good WL? Because she is stronger in pretty much every aspect while playing similar. Said her bash is unreactable for most people, i checked for it, it's unreactable for everyone, if someone can find footage from Antonio or some other reaction god reacting to her, please show me...when she was able to chain after bash you had to make a read after making a read do have a chance, the damage was 100% overtooned. She is still S-tier every mode, she needs nothing. The biggest difference is that before she used to be more attack oriented and now she is defense oriented.
