Valve Guides Explained! Installation and Machining. Cylinder Head Overhaul Part 1 

It's good too see young men taking a craftsman attitude towards their work. We really need many many more of the younger generation to take such attitude toward everything they do, not just want to rush to the top's of their professions without any of the hard work thats involved gaining the knowledge and skills needed to be successful.

Great video ! I ask a machine shop owner that had 37 years experience , rebuilding cylinder heads if he can installed only the valve guides first and he said that it will not work , The valve seats comes first 🤔 We got into a big argument .

Thank you, sir. I was just getting to pull a head off my sbc 350, that has remanufactured heads. I'm replacing the lifters, and was looking inside the intake ports, where I saw two of those valve guide inserts protruding down about 3/32". I thought they were falling out. Whew. Moving on.

If we pay attention with your explanation and your so-called Chicken scratch drawings that I understand is no problem also you have fairly older equipment that let you explain slower with more detail and checking and double checking which helps the viewer also on a slower pace thank you well done.

I have one quick question . Is it possible to heat up an aluminum head in an oven and put the vale guides inside a refrigerator and installed it together once they are ready so it wont create that hour glass shape inside the valve guide ?

How difficult was it to find a set of valves, springs, and retainers that are the proper height to function? I would have thought that if the engine never had an 11/32 valve option, you would either have to get custom parts, or creatively mix parts from different engines.

Hi brother, I am from India, Bangalore. RU-vid recommended your video just today. I have a Cummins KTAA19G10 engine for power generation which recently dropped its exhaust valve in 6th cylinder and its piston, liner, valves and injector all have got damaged even though all schedule maintenance were done. Can you kindly help by making video on why valves drops and how we can prevent.?

Without being a machinist and a mechanic and not of limited intelligence to think someone would do the valve seats first before the guides ? seems idiotic just like trying to replace a valve seat only using a worn guide.
