Just realised, Half-Life 1 released in 1998, and Opposing Force released in 1999 which is a 1 year gap. Blue Shift released in 2001, 2 year gap from Opposing Force. And Half-Life 2 released in 2004, 3 YEAR GAP! (From Blue Shift) Crazy right?
What makes it even funnier is that modders technically made half life 3, I'm talking about Entropy Zero, which got so big and popular that it got released on Steam and has playtime that is comparable to half life 2 itself (not counting episodes, however still amazing quality and absolutely for free for all half life 2 owners) huge respect to those modders for making a huge half life 2 fanmade spinoff
@@YourhomieTarek True but if I'm being honest. They took the story to that MILES further than I ever expected. Honestly yeah it would be nice to know where the 2 team ended up, but the 1 team I feel had a good ending, provided one thing. I do wanna know if they're still on the bridge.

The closest we ever got to Half-Life 3 was the announcement of Half-Life 2: Episode 3 in 2006. Then they cancelled it 11 years later after almost no progress being made.
This was back when Illumination actually took 1 risk, and now they've been coasting off that one risk forever. One of these days, Valve is going to make Half Life 3, and if not them, then they'll at least publish it. Then again, everyone who worked on TF2, Counter-Strike and its Go counterpart, Portal, and several other games, including Half Life, aren't Valve Employed anymore, and the ones who are still working for Valve aren't the ones who'll be open to continuing the Valve games because they've jumped on board with Virtual Reality, are not the same people with the same creative vision for Valve games, meaning that even if they wanted to create and continue the games they may not even be the right people for the job, even if they wanted to be, and finally, how Valve fundamentally works would make that logistically impossible anyway, so even if Valve wanted to get off their asses and get back to what made them the company name they are today, it that would be a monumental task to ask everyone to do so and it would take an speech so inspiring it would singlehandedly unite and inspire every single person throughout Valves' communities that it is a good idea. This level of charisma is impossible to achieve however. Just ask Valve to get someone else to give a fuck for them, and we'll have our Half Life 3.
I’m not the biggest halve life two fan but I feel the pain I’m still waiting for portal 3 like no matter how many times I beat portal 2 I still find my self coming back to beat the game like I’ve beat the game like 7 times already

Portal 2 ended the series perfectly, and in essence Portal 1 was a tech demo for Portal 2. Left 4 Dead 2 should have been DLC for L4D1, it released less than a year later and L4D becane abandonware. Half-Life has had 8 games. Half-Life: Alyx came out 4 years ago, was a full campaign lightyears ahead in design and immersion, and effectively fills the role if Episode 3, setting up the series for a true sequel
Only people over 30 care about half life like that due to how long they’ve waited. I am 25, born in 98, so even HL2 is before my time. If they wanted to keep their fan base for it alive they lost their chance by waiting too long.
