The "alligator hanging from the ceiling" thing is so common it has its own TVTropes page. But you usually get that sort of thing in places that are supposed to be mystical and magical, not really the opulent look this room was going for

Been playing this over the weekend . Glad I'm not the only one who didn't realise I needed a safe zone to eat in and wondered around and around the bar. In later scenes things can escalate insanely fast. One minute you're a vampire detective, then you accidentally progress the story and everything is irreparably effed up. Would love to see you all play more of this even though it's... eh. You make everything so much more fun.

@@khamjaninja. I'm a VTM fan and it hurts to admit that this is not worth full price. I'm going to finish it but I honestly can't recommend it. It has its moments but also way too much tedium and overly-complicated, poorly explained things the game expects you to do to succeed.

I could see Jane as a Toreador, Mike as a nosferatu, Andy as either a malkavian or ventrue, Ellen as a tremere or a Gangrel because of animals, and Luke I could also see as Gangrel or a brujah.

@@gsesquire3441 Huh. I'm pretty sure you can refer to trademarks as long as you don't genericize them or claim to be endorsed by/own them/compete in the markets for which they're registered? And copyrights wouldn't really be affected by whether you say the name or not, although the company could have their own policy of pursing enforcement only when their brand is mentioned. Either way especially a story-heavy video game could technically forbid all LPs on copyright, but do publishers still do that?

Just the other day I was browsing AirBNB for entertainment with a friend and we found a place for a humble 30k a night that was filled with life-sized animal sculptures in every room, including orangutans hanging from the ceiling and a camel behind the master bed. Perhaps this place and the vampires share a decorator.

I was considering preordering this game, until I saw some pre-release footage. So, they released a tripple-A title with the grapics of original L.A. Noir. Especially the facial expressions. Now I might consider buying it in ~3 months, when they start selling it for around $20.

If you want to watch the VtM tv show. Watch KINDRED THE EMBRACED. It was a short lived Fox tv series that was only cancelled due to the producer dying in a motorcycle accident since he also wrote and stared in the show.

🤔 Sooo… a question for all you more vampire-savvy than I: if vampires don’t have reflections, how do (the ones that bother to) manage to dress and groom themselves to look so unusually attractive and stylish? Just picture them if they were outstandingly sloppy and odd-looking in their appearance, trying to seduce humans to prey on! Do they help dress and style each other? Do they all just have servants that handle that? Is it some supernatural fashion-sense? Has this ever been mentioned or explored in sources of vampire lore? I’m genuinely curious. 🙂

Not necessarily. Alligators hanging from the ceiling were common in illustrations of cabinets of curiosities.

Those pictures on the wall of Richard Dunham's apartment are from the TAT (Thematic Apperception Test). They're like Rorschach ink blots, but instead of asking people to identify what object they see, psychologists ask the test-taker to tell a story based on the images. The people in the images are often quite androgynous, and the situations and/or relationships depicted are extremely ambiguous, providing the person taking the test a neutral yet charged source of inspiration as a jumping-off point for their story-whatever the test-taker brings to the story (rage, sorrow, joy, indifference) all comes from the test-taker, not the image itself.

Only just started watching this but I agree with Andy, the vampires should have developed some form of blood alternative by now. I mean they did it in true blood and that was atleast 15 years ago ;) I love how Andy tells Jane to put it all in sexterity ♡ still definitely a stat!
