@@KeziaTv I play occasionally, but nothing keeps me hooked like this. Games get better at battle passes and worse and worse in gameplay each year.

I wish halls of torment has as much content as I love that game also but finished with it quickly

@@malazan6004 I haven't found that game to be as refined as Vampire Survivors. It does nail the atmosphere though.

It's the kind of game that doesn't take itself seriously, anyways you can "beat" the game but it has tons and tons of unlockable stuff. As for characters, I think some have skins, but pretty much all characters have their own stats and starting weapon.

@@jdecosta Yeah it's one of those games that's hard to explain, it starts out hard but gets easy after a bit. It's mainly all about just creating pure chaos and having fun with some modes like Limit Break. xD

There is no story... most of the game is unlocking new characters, which each have their own parameters for movement speed, base strength, projectile speed, etc. Also, each character has a gimmick that gets stronger as they level up and most characters have their own unique starting weapon. A successful run usually lasts 20+ minutes, sometimes up to 45 depending on the stage. There is meta progression as well, giving permanent bonuses to like 25 stats. Most or all of the characters have an alternate sprite as well.

You get weapons in game but your starting weapon and buff depends on which character you pick

The game will switch to the new engine tomorrow on PC (August 17th). I've been using the beta channel already which had the new engine since last year and it's silky smooth and uses less battery too. I assume the switch version is running the new engine which is why it gets decent performance.

I can almost guarantee that! You basically need a dpad/analogue stick and one button to play, so joy cons are plenty enough 😊

Dlc adds quite a bit. Lots of new unlockables and it's literally just spare change to buy.

I think it runs perfectly fine and I own it on steam for my deck / mobile iOS and now switch.

@@Matchaddict82I do notice it barely lagging on the Switch at times, but it's not bothering me at all. I'm curious to see how it can handle me farming for gold on Bone Zone, though. xD

Outside of some UI differences maybe, no I dont think there's any difference in the actual gameplay and the way it controls.

as far as i know the only major think is switch has local co-op. for me, that's worth buying it despite already playing a ton on ios.

. Supposedly some UI updates, graphical updates, along with the multiplayer update.

I'm genuinely curious why you prefer mobile over the Switch. According to this review, the Switch version also offers touch screen controls similar to mobile, so you could always disconnect the joycons and treat your Switch like a small tablet if you prefer to play that way. Mostly, though, I'm confused why anyone would prefer touch screen controls over joycons in a game requiring halfway precise movement. Would love to hear your thoughts.

@@nicked_fenyx Vampire survivors very well optimised for touch screen. I think it doesn't necessary joycons for progress. For example it's impossible for me to progress on emulators with touch screen, without Bluetooth controller. I do prefer mobile version because mobile phone is more compact, portable than the switch :) sometimes i really feel uncomfortable carrying switch on trips, same goes with steam deck, i have that too. Plus phone screen (at least my phone) has better much better touch response than the switch

I suck with touch controls but if you're younger than 20 you probably grew up with touch controls and it's less of a problem.

I thought it looked like a flash game from 20 years ago. Yes it does, but it’s still really good.

It's stupidly cheap. Less than $10 USD will get you everything, even DLC. I spent almost 300 hours on Steam Deck playing it and I'm gonna spend 300 more on the Switch version. If you really can't wait, or really can't afford it, it's 100% free on mobile (still gotta pay for DLC however). No microtransactions, and the mobile version only gives you an ad when you wanna revive in a run. An unneeded but appreciated feature in my opinion

you can try it on your phone since it's free. I played a total of 20 hours till my save got corrupted because of my storage was full but I kept playing lmao

I agree with you in that there's definitely an oversaturation of the genre but I will say vampire survivors is well worth it. I've put over 400 hours into Isaac, slay the spire and hades and this game is definitely still worth it. Plus it's literally the price of a coffee you can't lose mate.

I've played numerous roguelikes too but this is way comfier and satisfying for me to play literally at any time. I feel like with hades and it's a bit too stressful sometimes and this is more like satisfying grinding. I've heard people call it a bullet heaven with roguelike elements since it's not exactly the same other roguelikes and it's the opposite of a bullet hell since you are the one spewing projectiles.

Yet many people have way over 200 hours playing this and not bored. Also there's the DLC and they are still developing it

Brotato is super addictive I just wish it had talents and things to work towards like spirit hunters and Vampire survivors

@@malazan6004 I hear you. I think for me, the things I work towards in Brotato are unlocking new classes, completing challenges, and trying to complete a level 5 run with all characters. That said, I usually prefer games that are a bit heavier on the "roguelite" side, meaning they offer more permanent unlocks between runs to eventually get stronger overeall. Brotato has weapons that get permanently unlocked, but no skill tree like the other two games mentioned. In some ways I miss that, but on the other hand, I also like knowing that when I do better, it's because I personally improved my skill, and not just because I made my character stronger. Both types of games are pretty awesome, though.

Make fun if you want, but once you start playing you won't be able to stop 😂

he said the performance issues were from an older pc version and that the switch handled it shockingly well. plus it is getting a new engine so it should be better for all platforms now

You literally only use the control stick and dodge enemies, while your weapons auto attack and bullet storms the enemies. It requires very little input, and yet despite this youre still constantly engaged with what's happening.

I haven't played Vampire Survivors yet but Army of Ruin looks better graphically and has tons of content without having to get dlc but I think with all the dlc Vampire Survivors might have more content. Brotato is good too because unlike the other two you can't just grind to get strong enough. There are some unlockable items to make the game easier but to get them you have to win on at least the easiest difficulty with different characters. It's much more of a roguelike. Also Spirit hunters is okay as well but out of those 3 I have played now on Switch I would say it's my least favourite. I think it will end up Brotato, Army of Ruin, Vampire Survivors, Spirit Hunters for me but all are good if you like the genre imo. I haven't even seen many reviews or even mention of Army of Ruin on Switch which is a real shame.

@@kcant65 My issue with Brotato was the lack of space. You're confined to a very small area. I like to go exploring.

A demo would be great, because it doesn't seem to have the same spice as Binding of Isaac does.
