It's interesting to note that whilst the common stereotype of Elysium is a large building, tending to be a museum or skyscraper, the inside full of polished marble, chandeliers and exquisite works of art, the Kindred inside dressed in the finest well tailored suits and cocktail dresses, languidly sipping vitae from crystal tumblers and champaign flutes. That doesn't have to be the case, Elysium is what the Price makes of it. So if the Prince wishes Elysium to be a rundown dive bar at the ass-end of the city, where the custom is dressing as punk rockers or even a 50's themed diner, where the local Kindred are encouraged to wear zoot suits and dirndl dresses. As a storyteller, feel free to come up with whatever outlandish and unique thing you want, something that suits the style and mannerisms of your Prince.
I played a game where the city's prince was a Nosferatu(he played politics really well), so he didn't like to have Elysium in public places. It normally happened in either a garage at the local Dump or at a warehouse facility in the industrial section of the city. All of this to the bitter contempt of my Torador character, it was a fun time.😂
This is extremely nicely put together, although I never liked the whole rigid social structure that got introduced in the sourcebooks, which I also have little time for, figuring that the elders in each locale would resist giving up whatever arrangement they'd worked out, being too entrenched in their own customs and protocols. In any V;tM settings I devise I have a prince and his or her enforcers, and a group of influential elders who may be called the primogen but more often than not do not represent each of the seven Camarilla clans.
I had to watch this twice: The first to admire the 1st Edition artwork and soak in the feel of the WOD. The second to pay attention to the material. Great ep!
I remember when I played 3rd Edition the storyline was New Orleans by Night I remember the Elysium where my Camarilla Ventrue character brought up to the Prince her vigilante antics aka both sating her thirst for Vitae and at the same time fulfill her innate desire of protecting the innocent humans by carefully stalking and drinking the blood of human criminals including corrupt city officials and insuring there's no evidence of her vigilante feedings left behind by revealing the truth that being she wanted to protect the innocent humans, and that like all Ventrue she had a specific taste but hers was very rare that taste being she can't drink the blood of innocent humans, but can only drink the blood of criminals and the Prince okayed her vigilante activities stating while it could be argued a violation of the Masquerade but the finer details means technically it's not a violation for several reasons one is her bane that being her unique palette aka she can only drink the blood of criminals as she is unable to drink the blood of innocents, two she covers up the evidence of her vigilante feedings meaning there is no trace back to her, and three it can be seen as a win-win she's as the Prince stated "protecting the innocent Kine like she wanted, and her being reported as a unknown mysterious guardian angel means the Masquerade is technically still being upheld as the innocent Kine think of one their own is doing these vigilante acts and not even suspecting a Kindred doing these acts." And was granted by the Prince the title Gatekeeper meaning she was the one who would if need be personally insure that no wicked vampire within the Sabbat, Anarchs, or traitor to the Camarilla breaks the Masquerade by injuring and murdering innocent humans via feeding.
Every time I laugh at how dang Medieval the Camarilla actually is. From Prince to Seneschal, the titles and positions are very legitimate to when the Camarilla and Masquerade was invented. Which is more ironic given the 70s, 80s, 90s vibe and setting often used.
I would love to see you cover more of the nWoD/Chronicles of Darkness series. The only one I see that you’ve done is Changeling: The Lost. Will we see Requiem and other nWoD splats in the future?
