The Saturday night show was one of the most 'on' performances I have seen from a band, ever. They were in a zone! Definitely one of my favorite concerts ever!
Everyone getting louder as the SF, Oakland, Almeda, and obviously Berkeley lyrics came up during Step was my favorite part of the show. Great vibes all around.
Totally agreed! Loved it as a starting song and would never have thought to use it. I believe it’s the drummer who is really good at picking set lists.
I’m so glad you sort of “got it“ because they are fucking phenomenal! Sure they could join the sound of all the pop bands but they do their own thing and it’s amazing. I’m 40 and they came out right when I was in my mid 20s I suppose maybe a little before actually andfrom day one they fucking rocked. They had their own sound and I love the Afrobeat, the experimental or I guess unique rock with some classic with some everything in there. I can sort of say this since I spend some time in New York in Long Island but there are a bunch of idiots, and I’m specifically talking to the people who love to hate Vampire Weekend. I sort of feel like it’s a jealousy thing and it’s half of the simple things I met over there who wouldn’t understand the lyrics because they’re not basic enough. Would you rather have some simple crap or a group that you feel like you’ve taken it music, appreciation class for all the different instruments and maybe extra credit for figuring out how to put them together and sound amazing! I thought it was a really cheap shot giving them shit for going to Columbia. I mean it’s clear that there’s just hatred because of some jealousy. Or a Wiseman said that they hate us because they ain’t us. Say it quick and it’s better lol

Fuck yeah I’ll take Vampire Weekend over over here. I mean this state is nuts but so is New York so I’ve been to both of the crazy ass states in the US. I really don’t get why people got worked up over the preppy thing. People got way too much time on their hands and clearly we live a Kush life these days if that is what is going to bother us. They were in my top groups to see, and I missed out on their last tour and for some reason, I thought they weren’t gonna tour again so I was freaking down and then I saw this so I locked down the tickets way early and ended up with just the perfect seat but really is there a bad seat at the Berkeley Greek? Rhetorical question because hell no there isn’t. Love that place and also the sound was on point! Plenty loud, but not chaotic.
@@Kyle-tu3ie I'm a little older than you so I can kinda see where the haters are coming from. The preppy trust fund kid was hated by all of Gen X. If you watch old John Hughes movies, they're usually the villains. Face value, that's what they look like to a lot of people. I think a lot of snap judgments were made. VW also has ska roots, another thing that people love to hate. =\

No problem but quick question, why do you love it? Personally it's my most hated venue. I hate the walk through campus to get there, the stone seating is terribly uncomfortable, the audience is usually rude and loudly talking, the staff fumbled an emergency I was part of...
Yeah I went to both Berkeley shows and they played Diane Young, Step, Worship You and Ya Hey on Saturday night and then Diane Young, Hannah Hunt, Step and Unbelievers on Sunday. So six different songs off MVOTC! Still, you got Giving Up The Gun off Contra which I love! And Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa and Oxford Comma the same night in LA is pretty cool, too! But wow the Berkeley shows were great and Saturday night was off the charts! 🎉
Thanks for this upload! What a great setlist, was fun to hear Ya Hey live too, and the vibes looked to be immaculate there--makes me want to try getting to their NYC show in the next few weeks, even if Ticketmaster prices are being a pain as usual...
Both Berkeley shows were great but Saturday night was unbelievable! Ezra even told the audience, "I think this is the best Bay Area show we have ever done." I hope you get to make it to NYC!
