A perverted kind of way to be a vampire: have heart-to-heart conversations with people, even cure them from ilnesses, only to drink their blood dry.

I love it because you'll feed on someone you didn't think was too important to only find out that you ruined the life of someone innocent by taking that person out of their life

Me and my wife have been playing it side by side on 2 consoles and we both love it its interesting to seen our different play styles I have spared everyone to keep combat difficult where she embraces the scummy ppl cuz the combat is to difficult for her its interesting to seen the different stories unfold and we have easily sunk 20 hrs into it already love it definitely worth buying

Honestly, if they had a bigger budget and more time to finish up and polish the game, this might've been one of the best RPGs. At the moment, the most people say "it's not bad".

In a strange alternate reality Jacob and Evie Frye failed to kill Starrick and he became a vampire with an even swankier coat.

I am thoroughly enjoying this game. Story, soundtrack, character dialogue, intriguing environment, and I personally love the combat. And playing it post covid makes it that much more intriguing of a story and setting.

Ugly user interface aside, i'm loving Vampyr so far. It has some interesting mechanics where your choices actually matter, the story and atmosphere are great and while the combat is not extraordinary its serviceable.

This is one of those games I play two game-throughs on: 1) Being the good guy saving everyone and only killing the needed few. 2) Have a f*cking blood fiesta on every person like; “oh you want me to help you do another side quest? How bout you show me the side of that neck? :)”

The loading screens put Skyrim to shame I sit there for like two minutes at each one

Just finished it last night. Great game, hope we see more from the setting. Amazing job for a AA title. Never killed anyone outside of combat. Ended at level 30. Upgrade your weapons and boost your stamina!

I've been playing this game for a year now and have never played a game with so many off shoots in story lines. Each time I play, I expand and play the character a little different. Engaging characters a little differently each time and woohoo it shoots off to yet another story with quests. Can't wait for the sequel!

Hi Gameranx! As always a big thank you. You're before you buy series is my go-to before I buy a game. I think I'm going to wait a little for this one to go down in price and focus on some other titles for now. I think the mesmerizing system was a very good idea though. I've only played thru this game once but it was absolutely beautiful and has become one of my all time favorites. I literally cried in the end because of the choices I made. Watching this makes me wanna give it another playthru

Playing it myself and I'm loving that we finally get a story that remembers vampires are frigging monsters, not angsty pretty boys or nightclub-hopping partygoers. That eventually rewarding the difficult to resist temptation to be a monster yourself is just icing on the cake.

I will request everyone to buy this game from such a small studio. They did their best what they could. If we can buy crappy games from big companies, we can sure help this small company too. I am playing this game and I will say they have done a great job with it. These guys made Life is Strange and as we all know Life is Strange 2 will be coming up. So they need all the money and resources to make that game. So please guys support them. Also DONTNOD replies on their FB page. So I will suggest you guys to give them feedback about this game and I am sure they will improve their games. Thank you!

After this review and ACG's review I will for sure be buying this. I was super interested when I first heard about it and now I'm stoked to play it

Really loving the game so far. I'm getting really like...first mass effect type deal. Rough around the edges but it's amazing mechanics and story to be had ect. I have no issue with the combat. The way the game works is amazing and how you sleep and things happen to people and such. I do not regret My purchase. I thing some people are being a bit to harsh on this game considering it's the first one. Made by a small team. Look not every game is going to be a AAA blockbuster and that's okay. It would be unrealistic to expect it to be.

Al in all, I think I am going to give Vampyr a chance after seeing this. I get how the combat might feel a bit weird in the beginning , but after like the first hour I actually love it. Very simple yet still very fun , there is nothing wrong with it

When you said generic vampire video game. And I realised there hasn't been many Vampire, Werewolf or and monster games. They should make some.

Whoever is claiming a "death of single player games" obviously isn't a Sony fan. Sony has been, almost exclusively, churning out single player games, and practically all of them have delivered, with more to be announced here in a week's time.

Short answer(and I know I’m late): THIS GAME IS AMAZING, seriously, start to finish.

I'm probably one of the many people that came here after getting Vampyr this month on the PSPlus but I gotta say that I have already seen this video last year and that it made me very hyped about the game. I almost bought it during one of the PSN sales this past year but lucky for me I decided to postpone.

Too much Blood not enough Borne. But I'll still buy it and play it.

Legacy of Kain must be revisited.

Its easy to go along with a doctor who specializes in blood as a vampire, because story wise, it could lead to him having a passion how to find new alternatives to satisfying his thirst for blood since it saves lives and allows other vampires to recognize his expertise and how to coexist in a city with humans and vampires working together. Could lead to a very good story where vampires can be everywhere without having to constantly have a mob rioting after them. Maybe the best vampires are all doctors since time isn't relevant to them and this is their way of "agriculture" or farming to upkeep their lifestyle. Makes you think if the last doctor who help you out at whatever clinic or hospital lives a hedonistic blood sucking life. Nah...that's just me imagining this.

This is straight up a great game and I hope to see a sequel and have the world, game play, and mechanics expanded on.

Loved Vampyr, so much so I played it through 3 times, got the Platinum, saw both endings and I am longing for more vampire games of this type, though hopefull with slighlty more polished combat and some bug fixes. I loved how characters reacted to certain deaths, and how districts we're impacted by the choices made. It made me feel conected to thr situation and like the reviewer made me very selective (on mt free for all playthrough) about who and why I chose to kill, on occasion the dialogue felt long winded but overall kept me engrosed and interested, as doughtfull as DLC or a sequal would be I would find either/both most welcome, and even though this title had a low budget they produced in my opinion a great triple A game, more deep narative single player games are needed.

I don't wanna spoil anything but has anyone ran into the dude that's a werewolf and you find out the hard way when you try to feed on him? The right choice can lead to you having werewolf and vampire abilities ..crazy but very innovative

The more I play the more interesting the game gets, I really enjoy talking and learning about all the different NPCs.

This review coupled with the fact that it was on sale for 34.99, I picked it up and subbed!

The voice acting in this game is pretty solid. I don't remember any stand-out moments, good or bad. The dialogue itself can be a bit circuitous with optional dialogue like asking a question, receiving an answer, then proceeding with the primary option only for the character to ask the same question he just got an answer to. That kind of thing really got under my skin and began to feel like those extra options were just wasting my time. The combat is enjoyable at the best of times and rage inducing at the worst. Blinking from left to right while a lone human desperately tries to reload his crossbow in a dark alley is pretty exhilarating; it really captures the feeling of the nocturnal apex predator. However, at least on the Xbox One, enemies have a tendency to close wide distances between themselves and the player during attack animations that result in unfair hits. If I had a dollar for every time an enemy started an attack from across the street and slid into me for some cheap damage I'd be as wealthy as a Dawson (ha). Stamina is a vital resource in this game's combat system and you want to use it as judiciously as possible. If a target is outside of melee range, you don't want to waste stamina by dodging or parrying an attack that shouldn't have a chance of hitting you. Sometimes that works, but a lot of the time it doesn't. A lot of the deaths I suffered during my playtime were a direct result of this particular enemy behavior. The game was under a tight budget, so it's understandable for the combat to take more of a backseat role during development. It definitely feels more functional than it does enjoyable. Sometimes it just feels like filler between story bits. I would have loved to see the combat and exploration expanded into a more stealth-action style like what we see in titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn or Dishonored. Walking down the same street and encountering the same group of baddies just got a bit tedious for me. I'm about 90% of the way through the story right now. Looking forward to finishing it. Just waiting for the game to recover from it's latest crash. :P

I really liked the whole environment/mood and gameplay. I love single player games (usually stealth) with this kind of vibe. I play a lot of smaller/less popular ones which i loved (the 3 Dishonored games, Call of Cathulhu, Sinking City, We Happy Few etc) and if you're like me and enjoyed these games i would definitely recommend Vampyr!

This is a channel I just found recently which I just got another Xbox one S at Christmas (had one after Xbox one launch but had to sell, years since I played). But I used to get frustrated in trying to find a review, especially with Xbox gamepass, in deciding whether I wanna actually try a title out. This channel does a review as it should be done, roughly 6-7 minutes, no bs. I will note the metal gear solid V phantom pain review was bias and generally a review should be emotionally separated. He said he's a huge metal gear fan and after spending hours upon hours with it, it's great.... I downloaded that and will be playing tonight or tomorrow. So even his one *biased* review sold me. Seriously though, I enjoy it and subbed immediately.

I would have preferred walk being the default with a run button on the trigger just to hold Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Bloodlines was freaking awesome. I went into it not expecting much, but have actually played it multiple times with each class just to see how each class played out. Malkavian by far was the best, but each had their own merits. With that being said, every vampire game I play will be undeniably compared to that one.

As a new gamer I watched a fellow gamer play around on it and although it wasn’t my friend’s kind of game I truly am looking forward to playing it for myself. For as you said us one player gamers it’s perfect for figuring out strategy of where exactly to hold the gray line.

I've been awaiting the release of the game when I saw gameplay on PSN. Picked it up on release day and have not been disappointed. The dialogue is what keeps me interested and just the same, I pick and choose who to keep alive or who to snack on.

I think the combat is great. It feels fresh and new. Adding in new moves from upgrading with XP points. It's a nice form of gameplay combat it's really really good in my opinion.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver for me. This one looks like my kind of game, though.

I'm on my 2nd playthrough and that's rare for me. I have to really like a game to even get to the end of it once. This is up there with the Witcher 3, God of War, assassins creed odyssey, resident evil 2, as one of the best single player experiences of this Gen. I got it for $20,its free with game pass if you have Xbox but it's one of those games that after I finished it I would say for sure it's worth more than $60.i feel fortunate to own it for $20 and have recommended it to everyone I know

I just played it after the ps+ and the game was good. I was really surprised by the depth of every each charachter in the game and the dark and gloomy atmosphere is great. Although the combat was quite bad sometimes but the main feature of this game is not all about fighting. This game isn't scary at all if your a bit of a scardy cat like myself i fully reccomend everyone come and check out the game

This is my first vampire game and so far I’m loving it. It gives me Bioshock, We Happy Few, and Bloodborn vibes.

I don't really understand why people dislike the combat.After watching reviews I went into the game expecting the combat to be terrible. To my surprise I loved the combat! The ability to stun and bite your enemies, gaining health, and the option to choose different abilities to fit your playstyle is a great mechanic in my opinion. This game is very unique and fun, I'd give it a 8.5/10

I had the opposite reaction. I had way more fun fighting then exploring in this game. I didn’t kill any interactive NPC for experience and was living off of mission exp and had a wonderful time fighting. After running around the map for the 100th time and sometimes to give out medicine to the sick, I got tired of how difficult the map was to get around to the various groups of civilians. I also had a lot of loading issues on my Xbox One S. Long load times and a lot of loading screens mid map.

Game is on sale on Steam for 15$ until May 11th.
