I actually run 🏃‍♂️ by there 11 o clock ⏰️ every night , in front of Da House. No lie, I ve seen a phantasm there last week. But not creepy at all. Good vibes. Oh oh, fun fact: The Vancortlant actually have a very famous, offspring. Hippie Rockstar, David Crosby. His full name is David Van Cortlandt Crosby. Peace ✌️ ☮️

When facing the statue of Porter, 700 feet to the left you'll find a century old White Ash tree and not to far south of it you would find a clone of it which is nearly as large. And just beyond the Ash tree you will find the Grand Central Stones, stone samples to access the effects of a New York winter on the samples of granite, limestone, and marble that the railroad and its architects, Reed & Stem and Warren & Wetmore, were considering for the exterior curtain wall of the head house of the new Grand Central Terminal

The van Cortlandt’s have a manor house up the river where the Croton River enters the Hudson. The Croton River was damed to allow New York City to grow as the Croton Dam & Aqueduct played an important role in the history of New York. The manor house that I mentioned is older and it is not the one you mentioned as being in Yonkers. The 1st Lieutenant Governor of New York State was Pierre Van Cortlandt - he was actually the de facto governor as the true 1st governor was actually a general in active military duty during the Revolutionary War.

That bed would have been nice and warm in the winter but I can imagine it was very hot in summer

Are you talking about the oldest section of Sagtikos Manor on Montauk Highway?

Really good video, Chris. It always amazes me to see countryside in NYC. Why? Because I tend to think its all been paved over. But refreshing to see wide open spaces there.

Chris… Sir…that rusted old fence…that was most similar to the fencing round Gracie Mansion, Carl Shultz Parl…the time Mayor Lindsey’s guests took pity on me…a hungry young girl…Chris, 1916 in New York was a splendid year… WWII… the City was watching …the folks..the wealthy folks were going to be high rollers…the John’s Hopkins Medical School just won the Contract, beating out John D. Rockefeller…the first Anatomy and Physiology Book was published…and Penicillin was just around the corner…KruppIndustry was manufacturing the Weapins … and… The armed Army took Russia…Bolshevik’s in power…White Russians (me) hiding in Asia.. anywhere… with what was smuggled out… Welcome to my World VA Chris, sir!

I honestly started this one thinking I would only watch the first minute or so…not sure why, but maybe because it was NY. But I really loved this one! Thank you! And may I recommend “The Book of Lost Friends” by Lisa Wingate, given the very end of your video?

Very interesting exterior of the house, looked up more about the prison window, which supposedly came from The Old Sugar House, used as a prison by the British during the occupation of New York during the Revolution, comparable in its cruelty to Andersonville or Libby Prison later on… Also, the blue and orange color scheme was combined with white on the flag of Prince William of Orange ( King William of William and Mary fame)

In classical Latin there was no letter “J” - they would use letter “I” & in Italian they use the letters “Gi” like Giuseppe. So when you see an Italian name like Giovani, in it is pronounced like JOE vahn EE not Gee oh vahn EE - as Americans usually would think.

Mr Chris’s, now we dial down to the “Music”… because every fine lady in NYC had to play an instrument… and yes, sir…age three…self taught piano…Greensleeves”… we were Jewish…we were Catholics… if we didn’t eat… it was our own fault because we didn’t earn our little monies… taught we we…
