JCVD … made a corner for himself in Hollywood at a time when we had Stallone and Schwarzenegger and Willis … there is always a way to be your own unique self
Schwarzenegger and Stallone summed up the 80's muscle movie at their height, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Seven Segal rode their coat tails at the end of the decade, but really came into their own in the 1990s by adding a martial arts twist.
Man I wish I could go back because even tho I liked watching Van Damme and Steven Seagal movies I have a much bigger appreciation for them now that I’m 49 years old. Sometimes you don’t appreciate greatness at the time but realize it later.
This was such a great film. The story, videography, cast (ALL of them), direction, and everything was absolutely perfect. Lettich and JCVD should be most proud of *this* film. One all about saving a little girl and her traumatized mother. Oh, and don't forget the music. It truly was fantastic. Especially "Nicole's Theme". 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
He was great fighter actually we all do love his movies when he was on his peak..He destroyed himself when he started taking drugs ..But still my favorite ❤
The story is simple, to the point while being interesting and relatable. Fights scenes, acting by everyone, sets and soundtrack is great. This movie was made very well and it will always be great example of prime 80s-90s action films
@@tonylester3868 Yes, I heard, and I believe that in martial arts Bruce Lee will always be unparalleled... But I like the J.C.V.D. because his films extol human values and be more contemporary... thanks.
@@tonylester3868 Van Damme is more valuable than Bruce Lee because he is not chinese, he is belgian. In China it is natural for men to know martial arts because they are born with that, but it Belgium or america it is not natural, and that makes Jean Claude Van Damme great
@@AManOfFocusCommitmentSheerWill Technically speaking Yes. This one was in 1991. What led him to prominence was Bloodsport and Kickboxer in the late 80s.. Plus many of the other classics (Predator) were in the 80s as well. I should of said 80s/90s. Cheers.
Another childhood movie favourite of mine, always thought Cynthia and that blonde chick who tastes the blood was fiiine 😂damn 80's chicks was something else hahaha
Blood and bone is another level where both Jai White and Mullins are very good "professional" karate /taekwando fighters in real life. Also the HUGE bald guy who is fallen by Jai White looks straight out of a strongman competition. Loved it!
Sonny desperately needed a dear friend to pop out from the crowd and yell "Sonny! No retreat, no surrender!!". Had this happened, he would've been at max hit points and went on to defeat Lionheart.
Right on. Lionheart was great as well. JCVD is an amazing actor, too bad we don't hear from him anymore compared to back in the day. Would love to see him again on the big screen...
He did bet on Attila, he knew Lèon was badly injured going into the fight. He didn't want Lèon to take any extra unnecessary punishment in the fight and asked him to take a dive and he would split the money with him 50/50
Joshua didn't put the bet on him, the whole bet was on Attila right from the beginning which is what the lady did thinking she would win but she didn't
JR always had classy women around him. I still loved that shows arc Who shot Jr? The were at least 20 people that were suspects including his own mother.
@@moenibus its not silly Darling its just over exaggerated.... which is a great , tool to highlight the true qualities of manhood,,,,,,, you didn't study much English in school did you?
Lettich & JCVD's best, for certain. The entire cast and crew were all exemplary. Even the actress who portrayed Cynthia was EXCELLENT. Same with Leon's "manager", heheh. Underrated actor.
Great movie! Loved the fighting scenes decent plot the really good friendship with Leo and Joshua! I have the DVD and VHS! Joshua was in some stuff back in the day.
The one who was there just to cash in on sticking Lionheart in illegal street fights, and then bet against him in the Attila fight and lost all their money? Yeah, great friend.
When reboot happens, the crowd will be masked/distanced. As soon as the blood hits her, an emergency Decon team will swarm her with flamethrowers. Her dead, unrecognizable vessel will then be bagged in rice and deposited into an incinerator. EPA guidelines will be followed, of course.
