Uhhh....wow. Probably the second best performance of this song I've ever heard...second only to the original.

You are not just technically going through the motions, but are doing it with the groove and musicality that the song requires. Great stuff!

40+ years later, and this song and playing style still sounds as fresh as ever... awesome job Rocco and OwnHammer, the tone and the playing is perfect... and long live the virtuoso genius of Edward Van Halen who was playing this amazing style back in the mid 1970s, spawing generations of future great players.

Insanely accurate. I doubt even Eddie has played it so perfectly since the original recording. This is amazing.

It has been said that if Eruption did not exist, this song would be Eddie's masterpiece. A masterpiece it is, nonetheless

Awesome performance, an excellent example of what perfection is. I congratulate you, it is clear that you have dedicated many hours of practice, the technique is excellent, after seeing this cover I have two conclusions, # 1 that there are truly talented people on RU-vid like you, # 2 Eddie was a virtuoso both in execution and creativity, I could watch this video 20 times and never get tired.

I don't know you Rocco, but that was about the most solid copy of I'm The One I've ever heard or seen!!! He blew all our minds back in '78 and made a lot of us just kind of sit there and say...."yeah, I'm gonna' go to college now." Something to be said for practicing 10 hours a day for 10+ years. The world is a better place because his parents DIDN'T discourage him.

and he wrote this when he was 17. People think of Van Halen 78-79 but they were gigging since 74 as Van Halen, doing small clubs and backyard parties. I'm 50 and one day I'll get this song down. One day.

Nailed it…what an awsome job! I was in high school when this album came out, and this was my favorite song. It was the precursor to everything VH was about to do…and the Monster act they would become. The vocals, harmonies, tempo changes and of course, Eddie shredding his Frankenstrat…and You did it justice. Bravo!!

The rhythm riff you understand perfectly and you worked to nail it. where you changed it up was in the spirit of the song and the tone. i'm glad to see young players 40 years removed from eds debut taking their precious time to learn what really is valuable music. the things you are learning are standard repertoire much like a Mozart piece played by millions of students. van halen is unique. no song is really alike and all composed in a way that exploited the potential of the electric guitar as a solo virtuoso instrument of great harmonic power like no other and to be taken serious by modern composers as a resource to be considered. Rocko you only showed a little of what you can do. Give us some more! but never let anyone see all.

Maybe the cleanest version of this song I've ever seen/heard. Brilliant reproduction! As talented as this guitarist is at reproducing this track, I can't stop thinking how amazing Eddie was for conjuring up this in his head. Genius is an understated term when it come to the GOAT.

Amazing everyone thinks that evh played a Strat on the first album. NOT. The tone came from evh himself and one other factor.... GIBSON tone, EVH used a Gibson Destroyer to record much of the first album, meaning 24 3/4 scale tone. Not Fender Strat. ") Great job!

It can't be overstated just how far ahead of Eddie's time and outside the box this style of playing is given the time period when nearly all other bands where still playing Chromatic Blues scales and riffs. Early 1978 no less.
