Every time I see a Van Halen video there has to be this group of people that feel the need to piss all over David Lee Roth. Nobody goes to a Van Halen concert to listen to Van Halen... they go to see icons strap-on instruments in front of them who can't play quite like they did 40 years ago. Everybody including the band knows this. David Lee Roth is 63 years old and literally destroyed his body and his voice living in such a way as to entertain the fantasies of all of Van Halen's fans for decades. And now, when he doesn't sound like he did back in 1982 all these people got to get on here and gripe about what he sounds like, throw him in the gutter, and blab about how they should get some no-name, cover band singer to replace him on tour. The man did more for rock and roll in the first cut of their first album than anybody on here will ever do. You want to hear what Van Halen sounded like back in the day? Buy the damn Van Halen II CD and listen to it. Other than that show a little respect and shut up.
Yes, Yes TT... You are so true. I've been with these cats since 77'. Now with the loss of EVH and the cornerstone of Rock music he brought to the mix, we stand in deep respect and appreciation of the "Van Halen 4" These disrespectful punks should bow down to the these men and their 45 year show that is like no other. Copied by every other rock band but never duplicated. The Van Halen 4, have a hit list longer then most bands song list. To Quote another singer... don't test the boss Because David Lee got this sewn like Betsy Ross You can floss and front, you can taunt and tease But you can't fuck with songs like these. The music lives on, after the creator is gone. Grand thank you's to DLR... He is the Greatest showman of the Greatest show on earth.
🙌🙌🙌 I saw them on this tour and cried like a little baby! I’m 56 years old and this is the EPITOME of rock for me. Anyone who disses Roth, please, let me see how you’d do better.
PLUS He's actually singing this song!! Instead of being a drunken idiot NOT singing, which was generally what DLR did in their heyday. Granted, as a kid who knows the albums backwards and forwards, in the moment, a drunken Dave was part of the party on the stage. It was annoying, I saw his first solo tour, and all he cared about was his ballet spin kick and bouncing on the phallic inflatable microphone. Hagar sucked; Van Halen is with Roth only. Take the good with the bad. Personally I found Dave pretty good on studio cuts, like this song!
One of the last times we would see Eddie. RIP Shredder. You look good here, your son with you and that smile. You were happy there, thanks be to God. You played a lot around the city you grew up in. Like you knew things we didnt know. Why do we want to know what was happening to him those last 5 years? Or what Dave saw saying that there wont be a Van Halen. But I'm happy for you, that your son inspired you to climb out of the pits of hell. Made peace with most.
And they STILL KICKED ASS! We lived through the greatest Renaissance in music and saw it in living color and blasted it through car stereos...we'd hop those up big time! LOUD VH IS THE BEST
jimboagassi91 One of my favorite tunes by them. Hard to believe last time I heard this tune was on the album _turntable_ at my parents house way back in the day- almost 40 years ago LoL!
Wolfie does well on this one. He has about the same range as me. This one is still in the human realm. Other tunes like Jamie’s Crying are out there in Only-Mike-Can-Do-This-One Land.
No matter what anyone thinks of Dave, he wrote the lyrics to all of the songs and the collaboration of Eddie/Dave is one of the most powerful song writing duos in rock history. The change in VH when Sammy took over was vast. It went from powerful party songs to rock love songs and ballads. Not bad, but not Van Halen.
Sam is an opportunist businessman, so he doesn't really have a conviction beyond making a lot of money and being famous. Dave actually had a vision. No, he didn't have the sheer talent of Eddie or even the managerial business instincts of Alex or Monk, but he had the willpower and the heart. Persistence. There is no VH without him. PERIOD. Case closed.
Dave should have remained a songwriter because he was never a singer? He did okay in the studio but anybody can do good in the studio. Sammy Hagar is what you call a rockstar it's he fit right in perfect with the rest of the band who are rock stars.
@@BlueberryStinkFinger62 Oh a age person? Look at Sammy, Aerosmith, Ozzy, Megadeth, countless bands in their 60s-70s that still sing great and jam well. DLR trashed his voice many years ago in his 40s!! Smoking and drinking a lot. After Vai left him it was a slow death to his voice
@@davidpearlactorteacherbizman You're nuts, when I was in my 40s I was in great shape playing the drums. Now 55 I've slowed a bit but also don't play much like I did either. Buddy Rich played excellent into his 70s before he died of pneumonia in 87 smh
This is the beloved Eddie, the happiest naturally I remember. I still need to catch up on all their newer stuff after F.U.C.K. Catherine is so beautiful, I ache for Eddie then and wish we could've helped more as fans. Eddie was always that smiley kid, but as with life, everything can beat one down. Dominus vobiscum, my friend and hero.
sbrave thats what I think as well. And if he'd break out a bottle of Jack he'd be more like the old Dave but Eddie will end up in rehab so he can't party like he used to
yeah well when he does it lower it like he is Talking & NOT singing, Roth just has gotten worse at singing Live,I saw them in 2012 Loved the show Love the 2012 Different kind of Truth CD,they didn't play Light up the sky when I saw them.
Hope they go out again in 2018 with Mike Anthony. Eddie's playing on these 2015 videos is the best is has been in years. I would love to see him play live once again.
Off all their songs this one reminded me back when, way back then, VH was unique. I could harmonize to this on my Walkman at 11pm, just before bed. In the shower, THIS SONG kinda drove my mother nuts! Fuk all that 80s Hall & Oates garbage, Van Halen ruled!!!
Such great clarity. Good filming :) I saw this concert as well. I've seen them every tour as well since 1981. So weird to see them this old though. But still rockin'!! It just isn't the same w/o Michael.
Don't say shit about Dave. He was the ultimate alpha frontman and nobody will ever touch him. The strut, the attitude on stage, the physical nature of his shows. For whatever reason there's no good footage of vintage VH.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yxfx0JcBWR8.html But the kick in that vid at 2:30 is an example of his chops. It's also one reason his back is shot now. He did it for you. RIP Eddie.. legend.
Part of Dave's appeal were all the gymnastics. That's gone...just like his voice. The Van Halen boys are still tight and sound great. Still miss Mikey.
Funny how Dave keeps doing these running then sliding moves ....20.. 30 years ago he did a lot of cool death defying kicks and jumps ...I guess we ain't young forever ....early Van Halen with Roth still the greatest ever
"where have all times gone:" ow! I don't know 'bout u but, 'enuff, is enuff, is enuff, I can't gone on, I can't go on much longer! Is it just me or, how do u smell, I mean spell, Libarachi?
What a shame it is to see how totally different VH is now. Roth used to do splits in mid air jumping off the drumset. They're only a shell of what they were in 1979 - 1984. I saw them back then and i wouldn't want to see them now.
Considering DLR has more bad days vocally than good, this was probably one of his best. The guys as a whole sound fantastic! Wolfie does a great job with the highs-there’s only one Michael Anthony-but considering that WVH sounds pretty damn good. EVH and AVH, what can I say, they’re brilliant. RIP Eddie
Yeah, Roth is so late and not so great anymore but better than never in his showing with VH......BUT, BUT, my only beef is that this long long waiting for the band to reunite for the fans, could not freaking go the extra mile and freaking bring back and INCLUDE their freaking bassist, MICHAEL ANTHONY!!!
I'm looking at this and I'm laughing a little... Not on them, but the situation... They move like they are afraid to hurt themselves. Just crazy how they were jumping around for an hour and a half, and now, they still play and sing quite marvellously, but with, I'd say, less "entertainment".
