The world lost one of the Greatest Rock guitarist of all time yesterday. How that man could make a guitar sing like he did was just on another level. A true musician. In 1978 when I was just 16 years old and playing drums in a garage band here comes VH. I was hooked. Been following them since. It's been a rough year. First arguably the best rock drummer of all time Neil Peart leaves us and know Eddie too. Very sad. Rest in peace Eddie.

Before posting "Dave is crap now" comments, I want you to bear something in mind, right before/at the start of the show Dave was "baton twirling" the top half of a mic stand, and that is an open/hollow piece of pipe in that state, and caught himself right on the bridge of his nose, splitting it open to the bone. He had a roady superglue the wound and strap it with a fabric band aid and got on with it, it being a live show with millions viewing on tv and the internet because in his mind the fans came before any amount of pain he was in, he was in ER right after the show and needed several surgeries after the fact to fix the injury properly, A singer can not sing correctly with a cold let alone an injury of this severity but he just did it anyway. K got that? good carry on.

Gotta be honest I think Eddie did get robbed in the rankings. He holds 13 patents, invented tapping guitar style of play, and is the 6th of all time for albums sold I believe in total. On top of all of that disco was topping to charts kind of pushing rock back out of the main stream in the late 70s, it was Van Halen who them all on notice. When the band came on the scene he completely reinvented rock n roll. Why? Because in the words of DLR “We rock the house, but you can also dance to the tune”. When Van Halen came on the scene, everyone before him was irrelevant, and those who came after wanted to be him.

Many haters gave Eddie shit for replacing Michael Anthony with Wolf and while it certainly would have been awesome to reunite the original band completely, Wolf does a fine job on the bass and his backing vocals are phenomenal! What Dad wouldn't want to be onstage with his son especially if the son had the chops to be up there. I don't begrudge him one bit. Especially now that he's no longer with us. Wolf will have those memories with him the rest of his life and deservedly so. R.I.P. Eddie made it look so easy. Hands were barely moving yet the sound was flying a million miles an hour. Incredible dexterity, intensity, clarity, phrasing. And most of all, groove. He will be studied and copied for generations, but never duplicated. Thank you Ed. RIP

For years and years everyone was crying how they wanted David Lee Roth back in the band, and when he came back he single handedly ruined every single song by singing out of tune and out of time, with the wrong phrasing, and forgetting lyrics. Someone doing karaoke could've done way better. At least the rest of the band sounded killer.

Brayden Jones Eddie looks So MUCH better than he use to. He looks healthy and happy and very handsome for an older guy (no homo)

Eddie is the all time master on the lead guitar. Who knows he may be even better than he used to be.

It's actually not that hard to play most of his stuff. It takes a lot of practice for sure, but it's possible to learn. Making that stuff up is a whole different story though. Eddie is the greatest rock guitarist of all time. By far.

In the short soundcheck footage of this show he walked out into the audience area while wailin' on the guitar to check the sound everyone would be hearin'.

Eddie was truly a master, just wish I could say that about DLR, he’s a legend in his own mind. He was too busy flopping around. I was not impressed with his performance whatsoever but the band freakin’ smoked this one. Wolfgang is amazing as well.

Yeah that baking track really makes him sound awesome. Oh you didn't notice it. Put on headphones and crank up the volume. The 2nd track you hear with all the mistakes is Eddie!

@@SilentKnight43 That was actually a volume check to make sure Eddie wasn't as loud as the backtrack. I take it you have never worked in the music industry or at a live concert? lol

Dave was SO much better when he had an edgy sneer instead of a grinning "can I sell you a car" game-show host vibe.
