Im sure you're aware lol but Eddie Alex and Michael have been professional musicians since the early 1970's And Hagar has started his pro music carrer in the mid 70s as well, Thats around a quarter of a century of experience, on top of the raw natural talent they've had since they were children as well LOL
One of the best things about this; everybody is watching the show, not too busy looking at their phones trying to take pictures or record it or checking twitter and crap. You bought tickets to see the show, not talk to someone else or see what the latest status update it. You were there in the moment, watching incredible musicians playing their hearts out! And you have that experience forever in your memory! That's how it should be!
Well at least we dont have the risk of burning our hand from cigarette lighter whenever there are ballad song...hahahaaa...but you were right! I have to totally agreed with you
Wow,,it will be ok just run to your safe space and tell your dog that you are scared of lighters and everything will be alright...@@kamaruzzamannordin3675
...Yeah, agree with you 👍. These days with mobile fons in their hands most pple only enjoy like half the shows on the price of what they're actually paying for....with the other half of their mind so lost in their fons...taking pics, shooting vids, chatting & so on. Such a waste!!!! Huh!!....
Look Eddie was Eddie... but can we talk about how incredibly gifted his brother was as well.... a criminally underrated drummer who no question is one of the absolute BEST to EVER play.
@patriciadailey447 Technically, yes, but ED could write a song, and YM couldn't. . Everybody knows VH and can name VH songs because Ed could write.......
I will say it a million times, and mean it everytime Being a guitarist myself, I know what EVH was to me. Everyone else here knows what he meant to them. You can throw out all the superlatives you want about The Master, but there is never going to be an argument about his mastery of his chosen art. No else had players around the planet going "What the F is that". From his grin to his fingers Eddie was born to bring us joy through his expression of his art, and you can thank whatever god you believe in that he shared his joy with us. ALWAYS #1 UNPARALLELED. When the master emerged, from the opening chords of you really got me, every player knew the sonic landscape was changed in a way that was unheard of up to that time. Eruption smashed his foot onto your throat daring you to try to emulate him. No one can. do you know why? You cant be Eddie because you don't think like Eddie. There was never anyone like him, and there will never be another.

It was after my senior yr of high school.... I had turned 18 about a month and a half before this show. I heard about it, but of course couldn't go. If I remember correctly, it was the very next summer, '96....August, and I saw this show available on the old school cable PPV lol. I ordered it and then recorded it on the ol' VCR! Lmaooo..... I lent the VHS tape to an old buddy, another huge Van Halen fan, and I don't think I ever saw it again. So, thank goodness for RU-vid... in that respect. I'm 43 now and still jamming out to this on my drums, and even learning some lead guitar finally. After all these years gone by... this is still most likely the BEST I have ever heard Van Halen.... the whole thing, the tones, sharpness of each note, the vibe, the energy, the time Alex is keeping on the kit, Michael, Sammy, EVERYTHING!! BEST EVER! RIP EDDIEEEEEEE 🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨🍺🍺🍺🤟🤟🤟💯💯💯💚💚💚🙏🙏🙏
There will never be another! This band was one in a million. Who ever lived in this generation lived in “the best generation.” The concerts, the bands, “Van Halen”........the best of the best. ❤️❤️❤️
I seriously think this is one of Van Halen’s greatest performances with Sammy. Everybody is honestly firing on all cylinders here. Sam’s singing and playing his heart out, Ed’s playing like the king of guitar, Alex’s drumming like a monster on par with the likes of John Bonham in his own way, and Michael Anthony will always be the unsung hero of Van Halen with his continuously fantastic backing vocals and bass playing. And this night in particular shows the band had just as much force with Sammy as the unstoppable early days of Van Halen with Roth in the late 70’s. Not as energetic, but as instrumentally fantastic as ever.
OMG... Well, Well said... they WERE a force and WAY on fire! Michael Anthony's bass playing was so solid for Alex to play the way he did. NO offense to Wolfie, BUT, it's great to see an "offspring of the Van Halens to play in the band, but in NO way did he really fill Michael Anthony shoes. Van Halen was a MONSTEROUS BAND
Beach Sunset i think Wolfie played bass fantastic with a unique and original style, but he could never get the vocals quite as spot on. He’s a great singer, just doesn’t have the “trumpet” sound Eddie called it. Michael Anthony had that sound, but he was also a 70’s rock bassist and played like one. Wolf’s a better bassist in terms of technique, but doesn’t sound anything like Michael on bass. Just two different great styles of bass, but only ones the best backing vocalist.
I like this so much more than the 2004 concert that had a stage with too many gimmicks. Just straight ahead great R&R for me please. What a difference a year makes!!!
Eddie has touched so many lives over the course of his 40 plus year career it would be impossible to put it into words. I had said in an earlier comment, Eddie was our Beethoven, Bach, or Mozart and the ability to keep Van Halen going on a consistent level with 2 different versions speaks to not only his guitar playing, but also his song writing.
What a great point! Thank you. I am so heartbroken and I can't come to grips about the fact that he is gone. But his spirit, music and memories are here as well as his sweet soul that lives on in his son Wolfie.
I saw both lineups, and this tour. Roth was the Show. Van Hagar was the Band. This is is heaviest tune they ever did, and tightest as a band. Phenomenal. Long live EVH.
Alex’s drums sound like gun shots going off every second and ofc that classic brown sound. King Edward Van Halen RIP we love ya at the time he was going through hip problems but still kicked ass his guitar tone is absolutely magnificent as always!! Sammy on fire his vocals are just incredible! And Michael well can’t match the vocals the voice of VH!!🤩🤪 Love you guys!!❤️
Rest in Peace Eddie, may your legacy forever live on. We love you, and we'll miss you. The greatest guitarist to walk the earth, and a hero to not only me but millions of other players. God bless you.
Well stated !! It sums up a lot of peoples feelings of Ed. I saw Ed up close in 78 early on that tour . I was a 17 year old guitarist at the time. I played classical piano when I was young. The best display of musicianship I have ever witnessed. I saw Eruption before I ever heard it on vinyl. Ed will be studied for centuries, like all of the music greats. Giant influence
Yeah Eddie, there will be no other like you kn future! I'm sooo sad you don't seeing live performing, but i'm still loving you and your personal genius and playing 100 % Performances for the rest of my life! Rest in Peace, thank you for your special gift. This hounor time is only for you! May God have lots of love for you and blessed you forever!❤❤
If anyone ever loved & embraced his fans it was Eddie Van Halen I honestly believed he knew hard times in life never forgot the love of family growing up and gave back to his fans for all he embarked in life couldn't of been without we the fans ! Bless you Eddie Van Halen in whatever realm of your journey's chapter your in right now .....🙏🏻🖤🎸
@@kimchapman4547 Amen it still doesn't feel real the radio stations are constantly playing there music I was so looking forward to seeing him spoil his grandchild with so much love imagine being at a concert watching Wolfgangs son or daughter walking across stage to give granpoppa a hug on stage I know Eddie was ready because in the RU-vid video here Eddie & his son being interviewed and right at the near end he looks at Wolfgang and ask when you going to have one and Wolfgang replied not right now pops not right now ... Eddie misses out on his sons wedding and being a poppa grampy he will see them from above but it won't be the same... Love to Wolfgang I'm glad Wolfie worked with his father and uncle all those years together is now treasures within Wolfgangs heart & mind and soul ... 🖤🙏🏻🤘🎸🎸🎸
Very kind, sweet emotional tribute to KING EDWARD RIP Dear hearted patient soul, riding on the wings of a dove flying across the ocean, forever smiling.RIP Those were the best times of my life, when VH -1 was first released. Cheers,I know it's rough going as a real long time fan ( I feel the pain really rough. All I can I say again is if you were there during those times you were lucky,( most that comment are) If not, never too late too be a VH fan
I heard you first when "You really got me now" And now your passing has made me question how Many years have passed with time not on our side To tell the truth, I never thought you would have died. Girls have no concept how much you meant to me, And now swamped by deadlines and reports, O back then I was free. Crazy I live in the place where you and your bros made shaking music, Dare I say, I membered my first girl then, Ooo! How we'd lose it. We all lost more than just a rifting tune, We lost a part our history from many a moon. I sit hear and ask like you all now, why me? Then time passes and ends all greats like Eddie It "should all mean a little, a little bit more" Than a long forgotten tune from a place and time of yore. I know all too well All good things come to an end, But your tunes were my salvation, from that I cry now as if I lost a friend. But as I cry, I pray my time has not been a failing, But I thank God, I was alive when I was able to hear Van Halen!
I will miss this guy! Eddie was a happy go lucky and very talented person! I hope he knew how much people really loved the way he performed and entertained us all.... I hope his brother Alex also knows how his talent influenced my drumming and I still listen to these guys all the time. Love both Alex and Eddie. Great musicians! Thank you both!
I saw them open the tour in Pensacola fla. Then saw them in Atlanta. Watched this live on pay per view. All 3 show set lists were different...and that's what I love about them they are so f-n tite as as a band can be. We will miss Ed.
Being born in 87, Van Halen was my entire life! I started guitar at the age of 10 after hearing the first record. After that I was HOOKED. Now I follow Wolfe’s journey to watch Ed’s legacy continue through his offspring. The kid is PHENOMENAL! Just like his father!!! Rest easy to the GOAT Edward Van Halen!!!!!
Van Halen songs will always be good. They will never seem outdated or old and tired. There music will always be in style even a hundred years from today. People often say stuff like thete will never be Another as good as this guy. This is the only time i beileve that that comment will always be 100% true an accurate untill the end of time!!! As far as guitar innovation goes there will never be another guitarist who comes up with anything that Ed hasnt already done better than anyone else. He absoloutly took guitar innovation and guitat sound and tone and technique as far as it can possibly go. Ed will always be known for the most amazing cutting edge solos in history and tbat fact isnt even debatable people. What Ed dosent get enough praise about is his incredible rhythm playing. Ed is and always will be the greatest rhythm guirarist that the wkrld haz ever known!!! Real guitarists like myself who have been playing there entire lives know that this is 10p% true and accurate. The hardest thing there is to pull off in a live concert setting is can your 3 piece band actually sound more like a 6 piece band when playing live? The answer to that is hell no!!! I was always completely blown away everytime i saw Van Halen live. I saw them 7 times. Eddie was able to write music and play songs that when you saw them live seened like there were more people and more instruments being played than just Ed and his guitar. Nobody has ever been able to play every song by themselves and make it sound like a huge band with many instruments. He always was able to play every song and create all of the fills and nuances of a large band including the most outrageous solos that have ever been heard or played. Ed was and is by far the greatest guitarist to ever live and its not even close people. This is and always will be a 100% accurate and true fact that can never be debated by anyone at anytime ever untill the end of time!! And, beyond!!!
The problem people have with Sammy is he's not David Lee Roth. Sammy is incorrectly blamed for Van Halen "going soft", using more keyboards and doing more ballads & "love songs". I remember after 5150 came out, someone wrote into Hit Parader, saying "Sammy Hagar turned the greatest band in the world into Journey."
My heart hurts everytime i see Eddie anymore. Its just still so painful. Seeing what Wolfie is doing tho makes me happy knowing Eddie is guiding his fingers and voice to become a rock legend in his own right.
They are all on fire. Ed is playing at a career high. So is Al. Sam is singing at his best. Mike is also singing at his best and holding down the eye of the hurricane like the best of the best. They never played live better.
I watched this live on pay per view and saw the opening show in Pensacola, then saw them live in Atlanta. In all 3 shows on this tour I could not sense one bit of animosity in the band. They were as tight as the all the previous tours. Me and my friends are big time fans. I'll miss the music and cohesive playing of the brothers. The music is part of my life story. I'm privalegded to have grown up with these guys. Thanks....thanks... thanks!
In Dutch, we would say: De beste Rock n Roll-jamsessie ooit vindt nu in de hemel plaats. Eindelijk in Jezus Armen, Eddie! 🍃🕊🍃 Translated in English: The best Rock n Roll jam session ever is going on right now in heaven. Finally in Jesus Arms, Eddie! 🍃🕊🍃 What a lovely humble man that was happiest when he made others happy! Eddie just being himself and not trying to impress anybody ended up impressing everyone. His smile, that beautiful smile it's so heartwarming. I will hold good memories close to my heart! Knuffels & Zoentjes, Hugs & Kisses, from your Dutch friend, Katrinka, San Francisco Bay Area🌺🌴 I will miss you Eddie, always💞
One of the greatest concerts of all time among ALL bands. The whole tour was like this man. It was so good, my buddies and I went twice at two different cities in less than a month, and that's only because we had jobs. If we had the money and the time, we would have followed them to every US tour date in 1995! On the way home from the second one, I was driving and got pulled over by a deputy on a rural highway in western Kansas. The cop asked what we were doing and if we had been drinking. Of course, we had not been drinking or anything that day. He searched my car and found nothing and asked about what we went to Kansas City for. When I told him we went to the Van Halen concert, he just said that's cool. Just do me a favor and slow it down, and let us go. I was speeding too, almost 80 in a 65 zone.
Kip, I got you by one time. 12 times Ive seen the Mighty Van Halen, and got to meet Eddie 3 times. Last time was at the Smithsonian in DC when he was inducted into the museum of American history for re invention of guitar.
i first saw van halen when they open for black sabbath in st pete fl then with sammy in greensboro nc i like sammy alot i remember when he open for boston in st petefl i love van hager i love van halen
That sound check of “One Way To Rock” at 1:10 kicks so much ass!!! I remember hearing that when I bought the pay per view and and wishing they would have kept on. What I wouldn’t give to hear the whole sound check from this show.
how cool to be such a guitar legend, but also to get to play with your brother all those years!!!! RIP and condolences to all the family and friends...
Eddie Van Halen a legend sometimes we taken for granted and now he's gone I always love this music plus she ready God bless you Eddie Van Halen how is your true friend love you brother
I was turning 14 when I saw this tour in Columbia Maryland. A few of my friends and family. They were on top of their game and top of the world. Eddie was great. I remember though Alex's drum solo was phenomenal. The power he has as a drummer is unbelievable. Never will be another group or band like them R.I.P. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I call it "pis-pis" because his drums are so wimpy and emasculated theres never any thundering bass it's kids splashing around in puddles after a spring shower pis pis
Oh yeah you mean like the pis pis in hot for teacher or the weak bass that starts running with the devil. I'm not sure I understand. I'm not sure if you understand
@@dougstubbs4351 Michael Anthony got to count off with some monotonous notes in "Running" then disappeared, and Alex got to end it with his trademark pis pis. Alex was able to use those hokey 80s drum pads because they're fine for pis pis. "Jump" competed against songs like "Karma Chameleon" in the 84 charts why? Because it's got pis pis. "Owner of a Lonely heart" had a heavy metal ntro to rival that of "Running" haha but it ha more bottom than "Jump"
Running was recorded in the 70s grasshopper. Go check the pre chorus of unchained, that rhythm and groove might make you take another look, or the rhythm section behind Eddie's solo in summer nights. Or go check out As is off a different kind of truth. Oh yeah wasn't PIS the name of the band who did owner of lonely heart. I'm pretty sure that was their only hit.
Eddie Sir Rip your music carry you been mist now heaven pain free amen.Sammy you done great job this song can't stop liven all time greatness you lead sing van halen family bless Praters lose sir Eddie. Bless wolf
Saw them on this Tour Van Halen Baby Whoooooo. RIP EVH man oh man this tour and all the Van Halen Tours that I have seen I still have all of my Ticket Stubs. Van Halen the music I grew up with. I still have Jump as my Ringtone.
They played jones Beach 2x on this tour... was there for both... there was not a better concert performance EVER than this tour... they were so darn great.. we were in awe every minute there was. Only concert on par....RUSH
It's extremely rare for any band to have even one shot, one hit, one heyday. The VH Brothers had three. Dave, Sammy, and then an encore with Dave, & Wolfgang by his Dad's side. Now Wolfgang is carrying the family name & torch as his own man. Lightning in a bottle that struck time & time again. No disrespect to any other great bands, Beatles, James Brown, Stones, anybody. But these guys, everything considered, all 3 tweaks in iteration, we're the Greatest Band of the 20th Century and no one has taken their title yet. With all the prolific computerized changes in music, maybe never will. Rock in Heaven, EVH 🎸
